Started shooting Aboywers this year... nice heavy 1.5" wide 2 blade. Used a KME broadhead sharpener and strop to get them razor sharp mirror finish. Drops whitetail like nothin. Broke two far side front legs right in half on quarter away shots. Will be buying more!

Do you think bleeder blades on my Magnus stingers will effect my penetration much?

Have you thought about converting a couple of your magnus heads to single bevel? I've been playin around with doin that on some tusker aztecs. They have been comming in around 15 to 20 grains lighter than the unsharpened head. the aztecs start at 175 grains and i have 125 grain steel inserts in them.
@SamkoTradBow
@SamkoTradBow 3 жыл бұрын
I have not. Main reason is I think the blade thickness matters in the bone splitting capability and the magnus heads are too thin to get the same effect. I could be wrong, just always been my thought is a single bevel needs thick steel to get the big bevel to twist right.

I Have built my own cedar arrows but would appreciate your suggestions about a good glue on or other type of broadhead for deer hunting, thank you Ron in WA.

Well you must have made this video before Thursday because now you have killed with a single bevel. Awesome that you have a left bevel and interesting reason because of the feature nose contact. I'm lefty to so those are good helpful tips for when I start shooting trad. Btw just noticed over 22k subs that is awesome. Your a hard worker

Yeah I dont like right wing feathers. It's not horrible and I'm gonna use right wing on the tuffhead as it has to be being a prototype. But I for sure want left bevel!

Will you make a video about gluing broadheads to adapters and lining them with the string or however you want. Im struggling. Some spin great some don't and I can't seem to fix it.
@SamkoTradBow
@SamkoTradBow 3 жыл бұрын
I will. Make sure you are spinning on a hard surface or using a horizontal spin tester. Also when I put my heads on the adapter I also twist it a quarter turn or so to make sure its seated well then press the tip against a hard surface to help it mount straight.
@jarridcarter5001
@jarridcarter5001 3 жыл бұрын
@@SamkoTradBow I have a horizontal spinner. My problem is I glued my inserts in before I spun it. I used hot melt on the broadheads but when I try to reheat it to turn it some the arrows im using dont hold up to heat well. I normally use gold tip but went with easton trads..worst mistake ever lol. Also do you line your broadheads all the same way?
@SamkoTradBow
@SamkoTradBow 3 жыл бұрын
@@jarridcarter5001 I align with the nock as I glue them on before I dip them in water to cool. If yoy have to reheat only rehead the broad head ferule. Not the shaft ever. I use archery hot melt glue as well. Dont use crafting hot melt. Get it from an archery shop or online.

Man I like the look of that abowyer. I shot my first deer with a single bevel this year and was amazed at the blood trail. Two deer shot w with single bevels now and both produced much more blood than I expected. How are you liking them now that you field tested them on some live tissue?

What is a great beginner traditional broadhead tou recommend? I shoot a Bear 62in 50lb recurve bow. Also is a 31in 500spine carbon arrow good for recurve?

Great bow!!!! What is your draw length on that bow? Will need that to determine best arrow set up. Any broadhead will work, but you might need to wait to pick thst until you get your arrows tuned and see what head weight you arrow set up will like best

You ever had trouble with adapters failing? Bending or glue/Apoxy coming loose.
@SamkoTradBow
@SamkoTradBow 3 жыл бұрын
Never had a adapter failure in steel or aluminum. Matter of fact the abowyer on an aluminum adapter just went thru a shoulder blade, ribs and split the opposit leg bone inn half right at the elbow on a huge doe a couple days ago. the aluminum adapter is perfect and straight. the head has a very small chip in the blade that I had to fix with a file. But the adapters always work great on animals. I have no reservations using steel or aluminum personally. I have only had glue fail a couple times over the years when shooting broadheads into 3d targets on very hot days. probably 4 times out of 2 or 3 thousand shots. always on very hot days and i think the extra heat generated buy the traget stopping it and then me pulling it out fighting the foam poped the head off. But never had glue fail in the field.

Is it that big of a deal to shoot right bevel with right helical fletching so straight won't get a single bevel to fly right
@SamkoTradBow
@SamkoTradBow 3 жыл бұрын
Straight fletch you can use either right or left. The reason you want to match bevel and helical is since the arrow is already spinning one direction in flight the head with the same bevel will continue that spin and work in the same direction. Rather then stopping the left spin on impact and then trying ro spin right.
