In California you have to get your bachelors in science then apply and study one more year to get licensed.

Hi Rosa! So after all the prerequisites you took (micro, chem, english, a&p, etc.), you still have to apply again before the clinical for your program for the lab training? You got accepted with a 3.0GPA. Is it a overall or is it the Science GPA? I'm taking the prerequisites right now, but I think my school program required at least a 2.8 Science GPA to get accept in.

Yes you can check the bridging program in Canada for cls. You can immigrate there go and Google it every thing is mentioned on Canada's immigration website. 🙏🏾

Is there any certification we have to do inorder to become CLS OR MLS or just masters in science major is enough?

you need to go through a MLS or CLS bachelors program and take the certification exam called the ASCP BOC. If you have a masters degree in a different science major you can look at job listings and see if they will take you with your degree and still train you. I hope this is helpful.

If you’re on the east coast, you can apply to get your license and work as a medical technologist. If you’re on the west coast, you’ll have to go get a second bachelor’s in medical laboratory science.

I live in a small area and the only MLT Programs are community college based. Nothing is really being offered in the universities around where I live. Is their pros and cons to going to a community college? (It’s a 2 year program btw)

Pros: saves money while you are in school Cons: you will get paid less in the long run I would still choose to go to a bachelor's program. It makes more sense in the long-term. I know it is hard to leave home but thats why loans are there for financial help and you will only be away from friends/family temporarily. Best of luck I would love to hear an update!

Yes, it’s possible but you might have to take additional classes or speak with the jobs because someone will not.

Have you thought about opening a clia lab? Very lucrative and you can do covid testing

@@RosaPerez definitely. You can essentially get relationships with the doctors that do testing like cancer testing(pays the most) then send to larger labs. I provide working capital in the medical space and a few of my clients are making 500-2m per month doing exactly that.

I believe so but you should honestly find a job in biotech! You'll make so much more money! You have the experience so you should go for it.

Do not go to a community college first. You will struggle when you transfer. Community colleges are cheaper but they do not teach you as much as you’d learn at a university, you’ll be underprepared and most likely drop out once you transfer to a four year school.

ehh I think it depends. I feel like sometimes I learned better in some of the community college courses I took over ones at my 4-year. Its different for everyone.

One of the problem I encounter is that the university is not taking the community college algebra courses anymore and I took 3 of them. Now, I have to take one of their algebra courses again…. Frustrating. Is like repeating all the 3 courses again.
