In this video, I tell you what the car air recirculation button does and when you should be using it. Believe it or not, many drivers simply don't know what the button does but it plays a super important role in keeping your car at an ideal climate and defogging your windshield faster. Oftentimes, I see drivers that simply can't get their windshield to defog, and it is likely because they don't know how to use the button properly.

I didn't know this until very recently, but I would recommend turning off recirculate before you turn off your engine just in case it rains later because if you leave it on when you turn off your engine, the outer vents will stay closed and keep air trapped inside your cabin, and if it rains later that day, it'll take longer for the air inside the cabin to cool down enough to match the outside temperature, and that'll cause the inside of your windows to get REALLY moist. I learned this the hard way when my iMid screen shorted out. Of course, even with recirculate off, it's still gonna get humid inside your car, but it won't be as bad.

It s also a great idea when the air quality is poor such as we currently have in much of the northeast of America due to these Canada fires. It prevents the bad air from entering the car

If I’m driving with the ac on and a bad smell starts coming from outside, I hit the recirculation button and it goes away.

Yes. Im also kinda confused why my brother's car smells like shit. It is because the air circulation is turned off so it suck everything from outside into the car. Now i understand.

Thank you, I recently bought a Chevy Cruse, had a Cobalt for 17 years, which was destroyed in an accident ( I thought I would have the Cobalt the rest of my days). Anyway, I never really knew what the recirculate did for never worked on the Cobalt. Again Thank you very much

Unfortunately recerc mode does not dry out the air. It will only cycle the humidity in the car and from you. So It can help heat up your car in winter but wont help defog. You would think it would dehumidify so it is curious as to why this acutally is the case.

I agree, I saw it in another video, it says that if inner circulation is on, it’ll trap the humidity inside the car in the winter and then fog the windshield. That’s why if you want to defog the windshield, do not turn it on.

@@yan-vn5oyif you have recirc on and need defrosting, turn on AC. As you have heat selected, it won’t cool anything but it will remove humidity.

I think the better question to ask is when to NOT use air recirculation? Because I almost never have it off when running the fan hot or cold. If anyone has an answer, please reply.

That's good to know. When my windows fog up, I usually just blast cold air through the defrost vents.

Use it to keep the outside fumes out of my car. (Diesel especially). It is five years old and still smells like new.

You have to turn the temp up a lil bit....if its all the way on max cold then it automatically turns on recirculate mode

Have you ever thought about using the recirculation button during fire season? Or because you're behind a stinky ass black smoke belching think they're cool but they're not truck? Just curious. Sure it's great for air conditioning and defrosting. But what about the health issues that it can benefit?
