What Does the Bible Say About Homosexuality?

Sexuality is God’s idea, and we should learn what it is (and is not) from him. He created us in his image as male and female, and marriage for our good, individually and collectively. Homosexuality is not the worst of all sins, but part of a brokenness we all share.

Since I was 5 years old I sought God. Couldn’t read, didn’t understand the deep stuff. But I saw how my parents loved God and I wanted in. I remember being so honest at 5 years old, I poured everything out: every fear, every frustration. But my relationship with God became an unending conversation. People must have thought I was schizophrenic lol. In this type of relationship with God, I was so caught up in seeking His will and his direction, that I didn’t even think about sexual attractions until after highschool. Funny enough, it wasn’t until I was exposed more and more to the world that my God time began to be divided smaller and smaller. I made choices I regret but I think God held onto me and reminded me of his faithfulness to me for all those years. He has now blessed me with a wife who also loves Him and 2 beautiful children:) All that to say, truly fix your eyes on him, and let him form your desires. If you fix your eyes on the world or even yourself, you will be led astray. Whether it’s being gay, or heterosexuals addicted to porn. None of it is godly. He’s the answer. It’s really that simple.

My main point here is: Many claim, that homosexuality like we know it today didnt exist back then and therefore everything the bible says against it is just wrong interpreted. But that claim is false as you cant just take the worldly views of your time and age and interpret everything into the bible, so that it fits modern Agenda. All i had to read about it was Romans 1. It describes what is happening today very well. The created today is more important for himself than the creator and everything else has to fit the createds sinful needs and desires, otherwise he and thw world will hate and abandon it.

Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's views and trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and everyone's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.

Just gonna throw this point in. Someone in here made this comment; "...I’m so confused because I can’t change how I feel..." And I agree with it 100%. We (human beings) cannot control our emotions or change how we feel, AKA what our hearts desire. "What you treasure or find value in, reveals what your heart secretly desires" (Matthew 6:21). So if you find yourself desiring/treasuring/finding sexual value in women (while you yourself are a woman) or men (while you yourself are a man) this reveals the desires of your heart. Simple enough, right? But here's the kicker; Jeremiah 17: 9 tells us that "the human heart is the most deceitful of all things." Deceit in this context means DISHONEST and INSINCERE. This means that what you think you like or dislike isn't an unchanging 'truth' of your existence. How many of us disliked vegetables when we we're kids, only to actually grow to enjoy them later in life? How many of us used to think negatively of someone based on first impressions only to find out how cool they were later on? How many of us used to have a crush on the 'perfect person' only to get to know them better and find out they weren't everything you initially thought? The evidence is all around us. What we desire in our hearts isn't permanent, and isn't a good measure of whether something is right or not. Truth comes by faith (faith that God is real and his word is the truth regardless of what society, and your heart, says), and faith comes from hearing the Good News about Christ (Romans 10:17). Please pray that God will show you that his words are truth. Even if you don't believe, actually no, especially if you don't believe, pray with faith that he will reveal his truth to you. If nothing happens, so be it. But I have faith if you pray earnestly, he will reveal himself in a mighty way. I don't expect everyone who reads these words to believe, and that's okay. Like, it's actually okay. God finishes what he starts ALWAYS. So if you're still unsure, pray. God will not abandon you as long as you don't abandon him. These things take time. "Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people's hearts, and they will learn the truth." 2 Timothy 2:25 NLT. God bless!

Its your judgement that homosexuality is a sin, two people in love is not a sin, God never said any such thing.. Where in the Bible does it say, two of the same sex in a loving and committed relationship are sinning? This is all gender based, male / female. What do you do with people born both sexes, intersex (AIS)? They were created by God, yet at birth, with your concept of the Bible, sin for the rest of their lives, no matter what they do. Practically everything he said was wrong. "God says it's wrong" is not a valid reason. Jesus said that everything is based on love God and love neighbour which gay people can do too. He conjectures it's self-worship but provides no evidence. I've known self-worshiping straight people but every gay person I've met was genuine and humble. Rom 1 doesn't even describe homoxesuality. It's not caused by idolatry, no gay man has "set aside the natural use of the female" which he never even had, and no gay person I've known has "been filled with all kinds of evil".

@equalism 42 Ok so first things first. Jesus comanded us that we should love EVERYONE as ourselves. In their generation, they only do that on their own family unit. I'm sorry but that's not what the Bible meant as you mean. David was living under King Saul's palace because he was a good servant to King Saul. Secondly, David loved King Saul's daughter. I'm quite sure that King Saul's daughter was the reward for David's good faithfulness as servant. If they were together, they're just friends. God is good! God bless you!

@equalism 42 For the last time I will say we should actually love EVERYONE as we love ourselves. That passed the love of woman means that David really loved his best friend Jonathan than any marriage including what you think. Let me explain to you one by one of the verses. This is NIV. The verse one indicates that they became one in spirit means they will serve the Israelites together. Even in the New Testament says that we should all be in one Spirit. The verse 2 indicates that they will really serve the world together since David is living under King Saul's roof. The verse 3 is the promise that Jonathan will protect David with all of his care. This is not marriage. If this is marriage, It would really say in the Bible that they are married. If you actually read most of the Bible's marriages they always indicate the word Marriage. The verse 4 indicates that this is the passing of ruling. This happens a lot on acient times. A father giving his heirs to his son but Jonathan is the one who gave it to David because he believes that David should be the next one who should take the throne. Fyi, don't curse. God is good! I think people don’t fully grasp the horrible pain our Lord Jesus Christ suffered on that day. People can say “sure, he was crucified but a ton of people went through being hung on a cross.” No, no, no. It wasn’t just that horrible pain, no, he had the all the sins of the entire world on him. That bad thing you did to your parent the other day? He carried that for you. The rude remark you made at your friend the other day? He died so you could be forgiven. Jesus took all of our sins, each, every, single, one, of, them, and DIED for us. He took those sins and paid the price that needed to be paid for the horrible actions we continue to do every day. Our Heavenly Father, the almighty Creator, our Holy God sent his only son, his beloved son, to our world, our broken, our ruined and sinful world, a world of mortality, sin and death. He became man and God, a combination of both. He lowered himself to us, he became one of us. Except, he was perfect, unlike the rest of us. He didn’t sin. He had every right to go against us. No. He came to our terrible world and taught and showed us the way to Heaven. He made it possible for us to go live with him and the Father for eternity. He brought Heaven to us. Our good works don’t get us to Heaven. The faith that the Holy Spirit inspires in us every day. And even then our Lord wasn’t done! He took all those terrible sins you committed with him as he died on that cross. He went to hell, and conquered the power of the grave, and the dead rose! He did something that is impossible for any imperfect man to do. He did what we could not, he paid the price for us. He saved us. And still, our Triune God, three in One, Father, Son, and Spirit, wasn’t done! He still isn’t done! He continues to give us chance after chance in our lives to believe in him and find the way. He gives those who have found it the ability to help others find that some path too. He nourishes us and others in our faith through us. He uses Christian teachers to spread the great message and word to young children or younger kids. He continues everyday to pull us closer and closer to him. And when we finally die? It’s not the end, we aren’t truly dead, because of him, we are able to live on, but not only that, we are able to become perfect again, like we were meant to be. We are able to become what we were always meant to be before the fall. He did that for us. He gave us the chance to become perfect again. And when you look at the numbers, so few people actually do take that chance, that opportunity he gave to us. Others right out call him names, attempt to shame him, and other terrible deeds. HE DIED FOR YOU! HE STILL LOVES YOU! All those people that attempted to stone him, or whipped him as he carried his cross? HE STILL LOVED THEM SO DEARLY! When we stone him with our harsh words or thoughts against him, what does he do? CONTINUE TO LOVE US!! HIS LOVE NEVER FAILS! IT NEVER WAVERS, THAT SAME LOVE IS THERE! Do you realize how much it must hurt for our Holy Triune God when people go and just downright insult him? Why? WHY! HE DIED FOR US, HE DIDNT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING FOR US! GOD GAVE US FREE WILLS, AND WHAT DO WE DO? WE DISOBEY HIM DAY BY DAY! WE DO HORRIBLE ACTS, CLAIMING AND SHAMING HIS NAME WITH THEM! WE ARE HORRIBLE AND SINFUL AND JUST DOWNRIGHT NASTY PEOPLE AND CREATURES WHO DOES NOT DESERVE HIS LOVE! But what does he do? He forgives us. When we confess to him our horrible acts, our horrible deeds, he pulls us close to him and tells us that we are forgiven, that our sins have been paid for on the cross that our Lord Jesus Christ died on, and took those terrible sins with him. Our perfect Lord, one who we don’t deserve at all, gave us and continued to give us wonderful gifts that we don’t deserve. Our Lord, our Holy Triune God, is just perfectly amazing. The world adorable? That world only should be used for Jesus. We should adore him. Some do, some don’t. But one thing is for certain: our Holy, almighty God loves us so much we can’t even fathom it. As far as the east is from the west he loves us. The message we all need to hear: Our God loves us so much, he did so much for us and still does. That message, is something I hope gets to many hearts and ears, and helps them realize truly how great our Lord is. Glory be to God our Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth and Creator of all things. Glory be to the Son, who died for our sins and saved us from eternal damnation. And glory to the Holy Spirit, who nourishes us in our faith and touches the hearts of many. May this message of God touch your heart and help you find him in eternal peace, Amen.

Its your judgement thats a sin, two people in love is not a sin. We know God does not create sin. This along proves your take on Cor, Rom, Tim is incorrect - homosexuality is not a sin.

I disagree. The section about Sodom sounds like the soldiers intended to sexually assault the men depending on how you read it. Also at the time the bible was written the Greeks and Romans thought it was normal for a man to sexually assault a boy a sex slave. I reckon that is what it is talking about and not 2 adults in a monogamous relationship.

It may well be true as far as the Roman-Greek world is concerned Then he would probably have written it differently! It was clear that this book would be known worldwide and even be the best-selling book! The Holy Spirit would have let the apostle Paul write it that way if it had been so. Therefore, every negation is a deliberate disregard of God's commandments. 2 Timothy 4:3-4: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

I am a Christian and I also a gay man secretly. I got married to my wife 4 years ago and this has been incredibly one of the most challenging walks of my life. I don't know how long I can keep going on, but my family is very conservative and have been told countless times that divorce is not an option. My family doesn't know that I am gay but my wife does and she says that I am decent guy and that it would be hard for her to find someone else. I really don't know what to do. I never imagined that life would get so hard getting married and that not being attracted could consume all of me totally. I feel so disoriented many days and I totally immerse myself with work to keep me away from my thoughts and my feelings. To top it all, there is a lot of shame because we don't have children and my parents talk only about it every time we speak. I don't know what the way out is or if there is one.. um... i think its the act of rejecting lust that i think we're missing. All sexuality, regardless if you're homosexual or heterosexual, its based of physical attraction. That's it, the reason you look at a certain sex and feel attraction is based off that persons physical demeanor. Obviously not everyone is going to be attracted to the exact same physical qualities because God created us to look physically different. Being heterosexual is not automatically going to get you into heaven PERIOD; there's plenty of straight people who do sexually immoral things in the eyes of God, like having children out of wedlock & adultery. Just like there's gay people who can also commit adultery and commit sexually immoral acts. If you know God and know Jesus died for your sins you would know that worldly things do not matter. All Sexuality is worldly and can be used as another distraction from your connection with God and whats really important. As God's children we shouldn't have so much judgment because we could've easily been in another persons situation just as easily as you are in yours. The sexual lust we all share and feel is not rare and is common in all of us. Lust which is one of the sins the Bible talks about and once you recognize/denounce that your becoming more like the Holy spirit who has no need for worldly things. Initially when God created Adam & Eve they were naked and were not ashamed or aware that their physical state only until after the serpent tricked them they began to FEEL shame and cover themselves. Before that they knew no different between each-other; the devil is going to try to make you FEEL things so that ultimately you would FEEL that God doesn't love you. God just want you to drop how you FEEL & put your all/trust in HIM. I feel like that's the message and unintentional or intentional division is separating us from that, because if you think about it we were ALL born into or out of a result of sin the only one that wasn't was Jesus... just saying. God bless yall

Beth Matsuda I'm not gay. Sometimes I wish I were gay. I think it would make things easier. But I wasn't born gay, so I can't become gay. It's not like it's a choice. Also, at 5:21 he claims it's unnatural, which is clearly wrong. There have been over 500 species discovered that show homosexual behavior. At 5:25 he displays a somewhat troublesome opinion. He says that heterosexuality can be sin or holy, but homosexuality can only be sin or chaste. So he admits that the inclination to homosexuality is not a choice. But his answer basically is "though luck, god made you gay, but god hates gays, so you better come to terms with your brokenness".

@@dsanti4069 I really enjoyed how your explanation is very thorough. I appreciate that. There's just some things I want to mention. For the first two, I think its important to mention that no timeline was given for those two rules to end. If these two rules were only meant to be followed by the Isrealites, there should be notice as to WHEN these people may do these things again (health code improvements allowing for edibility of the food, growth of mixed fabric clothing in the general public). Sadly, its mentioned in such a primitive matter, as though these were just rules made by people. The people basically think about these things in a manner of "Pagan bad. Pagan wear those clothes. Those clothes bad." and "me get sick eating poisonous vein in shellfish. no eat no more". The reason they were added, in my opinion, was because the book was made as a way to help formulate all people in those times to come together as one and live with rules that allow the general public to be as safe as possible with the amount of knowledge they had at that moment. These rules have since not stood the test of time. As for the disabilities part, Im dreadfully confused on how you got to your conclusion. The passage clearly states people with crippled foot and hand as well as hunchbacks and dwarfs may not enter. It was nothing to with spiritual being. And its for sure not one of these "godly riddles" given that isnt clearly stated when this book was supposed to stand the test of time as well as supposedly be the way that will lead to eternal life and death. I'm agnostic, basically all I believe in is a soul, and I'm honestly not against religion as long as its more toxic parts stay within the community it belongs to and not the outside world

How can people say that Jesus never addressed homosexuality? “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: these are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man” (Matthew 15:19-20). In these verses, Jesus lists some sins that defile people, among which is fornication. Fornication is any sexual activity that does not consist within scriptural marriage. Hence, homosexuality is fornication, and thus Jesus Christ condemns it. “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh” (Mark 10:6-8). Here Jesus explains the natural order that God made in Genesis: “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). God designed men to be married to women, and women to men. Sodomy between two men is therefore a perversion of nature, an abomination in God’s sight. In Romans 1:26, Paul condemns changing “the natural use into that which is against nature.”

The thing is that I have a really close cousin who loves God and her relationship with God kinda inspires me to stop being lazy and procrastinating and grow that relationship with Him. However, she’s in a lesbian relationship, I really enjoy spending time with them both and really like her partner, she’s a real cool person and my cousin even has them read their Bible together pray, and just having God in the relationship so that really made me second guess what I’ve been told and somewhat of my beliefs. @@gravity4467 How many times do I need to educate people on Leviticus as they just pick and choose. 1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? 2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? 3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence. 4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? 5. I have a neighbour who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it? 6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination? 7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here? 8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die? 9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? 10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? I'm not sure why they haven't corrected it, but it seems to be just that people don't want to admit that what they have read is wrong. I'd just like to point out here that as Christians we believe God to be absolutely sovereign. His word is sovereign whether we "agree" with it or not . And personally, as I came to know Christ I had to wrestle with trusting Him to be sovereign+good. I did not like a lot of things I read in the Bible at first, and I went through a period of 3 years where I basically said "Fuck you" to the Lord. Then after that I stopped pursing Him (until later). It has been 1.5 years now, and after coming to the end of my rope, I decided to try again and pursue God (who pursues us first). It took what felt like ages to finally realize His sovereignty and goodness. First, one must know He is sovereign. He has the ultimate authority. Second, they must realize that God cannot lie or be impure in any kind of way, for He is only Holy. And this knowledge is given by God. So basically If God forbids something, us as His followers recognize His absolute authority in the matter, and that is that. Reverence for God is the beginning of knowledge. Many people also do not understand the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, there is much blindness when reading the Bible (unless God ordains sight or you ask Him directly for help understanding something). All wisdom and knowledge is His.

It felt very dirty and unimaginable and it did not at all made me horny or excited at all . Rather grossed me out . But as i saw the other kinds it instantly burned through my blood , it was lust , attraction . That was my first encounter or discovery of that side of me I've always been Christian , had gfs too always believed i was straight cus uk that's how the world is . Men and woman . But throughout , i never even had the urge to kiss them or excited in them in any way . . So straights get to have sex with pure lust , attraction , and happiness with marriage with Ppl they are attracted to by birth , satisfaction and us the others ( if i may add who are also made this way by birth ) need to fake it ? Need to force it in the name of law ? But isn't lying or faking a sin agn . Do we stay in celibacy for the rest of our lives ? We were born with it too like all of you . And yet we have to put aside our happiness and live by law ? While the rest of the world can live in happiness ? Does the Bible teach us discrimination ? Doesn't it stand for love one love all ? Jesus loved all the children , he loved them all, all different colours . It stood for equality . Where is the equality in this ? I'm always a devoted Christian , church many times a week , sing in the churchs as well , believe in god and accepted Jesus as my saviour . But this part . I really questions our lord . Why ? How ? Where do I go from here ? I've watched so many people trying to explain but it never never is right . I won't twist the words in the Bible . I won't go against anything . But as a teen as a human , born with lust like all of you can i really keep this aside in life ? words so powerful so true so strong . Why did it prohibit it but made me born like this , doesn't that makes it go against itself ? Lemme share another fact . When i was young i was sick . Like real sick for months and after some long months i slept ..a deep sleep , filled with nightmares for days . But one night in a dream i was taken away in a dark village . And then it was this light shiloutte of a person that put his hand on my head and woke me.up . I woke.up healed and perfectly fine which amazed everyone . This is why my faith is ( or was ) soo strong . The shiloutte of light had curly hair but i didn't see the hand . I jas assumed it was god or his angels . I was a kid who prayed to him everyday . I thought he saved me cus he loved and cherished me . But then now why saved a gay kid ? Jas to be discriminated upon by the laws u set ? These unanswered qs will stay with me for life

Hello everyone! I have a few questions that I hope you can answer for me. I also hope we can have a normal conversation without threats, bullying and hatred towards each other. I have always wondered why people who disapprove of LGBTQIA+ seem to only care about this "sin" and not other clearly named sins in the Bible, such as: Temple desecration (Mk 11:15-18 ), hypocrisy (Mt 23:1-36 ), covetousness (Lk 12:15 ), blasphemy (Mt 12:22-37), adultery (Mt 5:27-32), boasting (Mt 6:1-18). Is real, deep love between two men or women really "worse" than the sins clearly mentioned in the Bible? I don't think there is a single person in the world who has never bragged or been greedy or mean to another person - and these actions even have a negative impact on other people, while a relationship between two consenting adults does not. " He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her" (John 8:7). With these words I would like to end my remarks and hope for comments.

Well said. I rarely hear pastors talk about gluttony or divorce. Anger is never mentioned as well. Why? My guess is it would offend most of the congregation.
@meepmeep545
@meepmeep545 2 жыл бұрын
(this is just my personal opinion) it is common in human nature to disapprove of weaknesses that other people have but that you personally do not struggle with. for e.g., someone who has no problem with gluttony would tend to judge more harshly someone who does, likewise with lust, pride, anger, addiction etc - and sexuality. by focusing on other peoples' flaws, you can distract yourself from ever looking within at your flaws in other areas. and the louder you are about it, the more holy u will feel (or just for political or social gain). and that person's 'bible' becomes, selectively, a handful of verses, the ones that make them feel good about themselves. for that reason, i think that God placed many of the biblical figures and apostles through periods of failings and hardship precisely to lead/prepare them to self-reflection and humility, before they began their ministry proper. (peter and the 11, paul, joseph, moses, david, etc) what a christian might need to do, first, is to comprehend how fallen we ourselves are (which is part of true repentance), be led/made to confront our own sins. only after years of such struggle against our own flesh, when a Christian has attained to some level of spiritual maturity (when our own Pride -not self-esteem- has been largely put to death, and we no longer desire the praise of man, but only the approval from God. and are grounded in the Bible), only then can they judge/discern wisely and humbly, and also know that sanctification is a life-long process. such a one would know what it means that all the righteousness of man are as filthy rags, and there is no one righteous, not one. (just to make it clear, i am nowhere near there) as for pastor piper, even though you disagree with his message, you can browse through the *titles* of his written and recorded works, and see that he never isolates homosexuality as the singular bogeyman or punching bag. nor do a lot of other biblically faithful preachers, really. for e.g., you can listen to piper's opinion before the 2020 election to know what he thinks about blasphemy, adultery and boasting. rather, you may be thinking of the more vocal types who make the news. we are all fellow sojourners, each with our differing struggles, and to be in the race is to recognise what sin is, what Christ did to pay for the penalty of our sins, to have a heart set on turning away from sin (the sinful desires within our flesh), and to set our eyes upon our Lord, and run the race, and to encourage one another to run it. and that does include warning (because of your affection for them) your brother or sister whom you notice is sinning. discerning whether something is sin and trying to turn others from it is commanded; criticising someone else is what is wrong.

"This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." We who believe that the Bible is the Word of God believe that, "...whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it." And every follower of Christ knows that, "we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." But Jesus taught repentance from sin. When he saved a woman from being stoned to death for adultery, saying "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her", he then told her "Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more." Anyone who believes in Jesus, of course, believes what He says. I've never known anyone who was proud enough to condemn people for one type of sin and ignore the many that we've all willingly committed. I'm sure they're out there, but they're not followers of Christ, and they must be quite rare. The Word of God is plain: "You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother."

@equalism 42 I don't pray to or believe in a god that would miraculously reveal himself to a man, converting him from an antagonist of God, and give him the Holy Spirit, only to have his word be corrupted and a hinderance again- and for that same god to allow that false teaching to remain next to the living Word of God and confuse every one of His chosen people afterward till the end of time. The God i believe in "is not a God of confusion, but of peace." If i found any of Paul's Spirit-breathed teaching to be out of line with the Word of God, i would have discounted the whole of scripture. It's written in one of the psalms, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" and i don't care who wrote it, because "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

To the people who think that being gay is a choice, does that mean when you were young you could have chosen to be gay if you wanted to? If you answer no to that question, why would you think that someone else could or would choose to be gay? I honestly don't know why I am gay, but I do know that it had nothing to do with how my parents raised me. I was nowhere near a "momma's boy". I was actually much closer to my dad and spent more time with him than I did with my mom, and he treated me just like any "normaI" dad would treat his son. I was raised exactly the same way and in the same house as my older brother, who turned out to be straight. And I was never sexually abused when I was a kid. I never even knew anyone who was gay until I was 17. Nothing about my childhood was abnormal or out of the ordinary. If it were as easy as just being a choice, I would have chosen to be straight a long time ago, because the discrimination and hatred that many gay people face has tormented me for most of my life. Because of that, I still haven't accepted myself for being gay, unfortunately, from the time I knew that I was different from other boys when I was around 8-9 years old, all the way up until today. I thank God that there are caring people out there who support and understand the LGBTQ community.

I have done all of the things that you suggested I do, many, many times, for a very long time. When I was just 11, I started praying and pleading to God for forgiveness and to deliver me from the same sex attractions I had always felt. When I turned 16 and was able to drive, I started going to church every Sunday. I learned I had to seek salvation in Christ through repentance and faith, and I wholeheartedly accepted Jesus as my personal savior. I'm now almost 40 years old, so unfortunately, I have been waiting a very long time for my prayers to be answered...So now, instead of continuing to wait for something to happen and being constantly disappointed, I think the best thing I could do for myself is to start working on accepting myself for who and what I am, and to try to come to terms with the fact that I will always be gay. I don't think I will ever be able to like being gay, but I guess I can accept it as it is. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop praying, as prayer is one of the keys to living the principle of repentance each day. The Lord told us we are to offer a broken heart and a contrite spirit, and that takes humility. God bless my friend.

Hello Friend. you will not be able to remove your attraction to men, because it refers to your body, not your mind. All you can do is just control it. The Lord said through the Apostle Paul: the male-bearers will not enter the kingdom of heaven. I am bisexual, of course, I have no idea what I would do if I had your body - because you are not attracted to women, that is, you have no godly substitute to satisfy your instinct. I try to nip in the bud the homosexual thoughts that sometimes come to me, because I understand that this is wrong and unnatural. If this is not the case, then in the end, not everything revolves around sex! In a kind and friendly way, I advise you to forget about sex, identifications, orientations altogether. this is all unnecessary nonsense! There is art, cultures of different peoples, technologies, literature - that's what you need to spend time on! Most likely, God did not give you a craving for a woman so that you devote yourself to creative self-realization! this is a higher goal than procreation. All the best to you, sir. I hope I expressed a useful thought for you.

Someone please help me! I just need some advice please because honestly I have no idea what to do and I’m like falling into a whole of depression. My boyfriend broke up with me because his family is very religious and his grandma told him he can’t have god in his life if he is gay. Now he told me we can’t be together because he needs to do what god needs him to do and that is to be single and not be gay to turn his life around. I know we had a connection and he felt something but what do I do to show him that he can be happy. He’s bi and have god in his life? Idk if he’s just scared because of what his family might think but I just feel so lost without him because I’ve never met anyone like him before and I don’t want to lose him but at the same time I don’t wanna force him to do something he’s not ready or comfortable with I just need help please !

So many bitter minds. As a straight male, I struggled with lusting after my wife before we were married. This thought was equivalent to committing adultery in God's eyes. One can struggle with the temptation of homosexuality without actually sinning as John stated in this video. I figured that this video would be unpopular, because in this wicked world, people look for any excuse to sin, and I am including myself in this. I loved this, thank you! I love how simply you state it; that we are all broken as a result of sin, not that our brokenness IS sin. I don't always understand why I feel same sex attraction sometimes, especially since it appeared later in my life (although some of it is directly related to a negative past with men). There is so much freedom in not overanalyzing but keeping my eyes on Jesus and trusting him. Obedience to God is ALWAYS worth it for those who love him. He is my first love, whether I am single the rest of my life or not :)

@alicehiemstra6620
@alicehiemstra6620 6 жыл бұрын
Anonymous Nameless Thank you for your question! I guess I would answer that by saying first and foremost, the one I truly love is God. He has my heart first. I am not choosing this life merely because "religion says so". I think God wants our heart first and everything else follows. I believe people who choose celibacy or a non-gay lifestyle who do not have a relationship with Jesus are COMPLETELY missing the point! I can only operate out of my love for Christ. Any other way is destructive and not of the Lord. When I operate out of shame or a desire that is not my own--and not just in sexuality--it is not truly God's desire for me. He desires obedience, but from a heart of thanks and love. Does that make sense? And just to be clear, same-sex attraction is more new for me. I do not want to pretend that my choice contains the same amount of difficulty as someone who has had same-sex attraction, and ONLY same-sex attraction. That is not my story; the Lord has helped me forgive the men in my life and look forward to a relationship with a Godly man someday. My same-sex attraction was based on the belief that women would never hurt me the way men had. There was a good year where I thought I could never be in a relationship with a man; that I could never trust their intentions and would live in marriage wrought with fear. I had to surrender my fears to God and trust HIS intentions with me, whether that was single or married. I am very aware that in a lot of ways this makes it easier for me. I am now in a place where I am very content in my singleness, but open and excited about a future with a man. I still experience same-sex attraction sometimes and imagine it will not magically go away. I am sorry for such a long response! Please feel free to ask me about any of that, and know that I truly believe that a decision like this (based on religious text, not other personal reasons) should ONLY come after a committed relationship with Jesus, not before.

Alice Hiemstra Its completely your choice to put God in top of your loved one list. But i hope you understand also people who dont do that. Many are afraid to be alone in this world and are choosing differently. I think its 'great' that you have had attraction to same sex so you understand the 'problem' far more than other people who have never experienced that. My personal choice is to stay the way i am and love who ever i want. I dont think there is anything wrong with me, i dont think i am a bad person. But if i am doomed to Hell for living this life with my own rules, then so be it. Thanks for interesting response!

This way of thinking is messed up and I'm suprised no one can see it... we aren't broken, nor are we inherently bad beings. Heck, humans are one if the only animals who are born with the concept of sympathy and it is in our genes to care for one another yet somehow Christianity claims were are little ticking time bombs when in reality.... "children of Christ" have caused more pain and suffering than any other religion throughout history

um ... this video is wrong, actually. To say something is a sin because the Bible says so is the wrong way around. The Bible says something is a sin because it's hurtful in the first place. Consider Micah 6.8, Mat 22.40, Mat 12.1-12, Rom 13.8-10 Homoxesuality is a harmless natural variation. Loving relationships between gay partners are beneficial, for God himself said "it's not good to be alone". Unfortunately the Bible was mistranslated to say that homxoesuality is a sin, but it says not such thing in the original languages.

According to a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll, a record high of 59 percent of Americans now support marriage equality, while only 34 percent remain opposed. This is a reversal from a March 2004 poll, in which 59 percent of people were opposed and only 38 percent were for marriage equality. Among those who live in the 33 states that still prohibit same-sex marriage, a 53 percent majority is nonetheless supportive, with 40 percent opposed. Just thought all the homophobes here might like this little news bulletin. Might be a time for a re-think all you christian gay-haters. Meantime, all my gay brothers and sisters, let's sit back with a celebratory champagne and hope that people like Jon Piper are rather uncomfortable right now.

EVERY piece of anti-gay legislation has been tossed out of court for being unconstitutional, yet they continue to try and legislate their preposterous religious beliefs. This is why it is so important for gay people to remain active and to speak out against the evangelical's anti-gay idiocy. So thank you!

If we desire to know God and serve him forever we must first accept his gospel of salvation and Trust Jesus as our savior and King. If we do this with genuine sincerity and give our lives over to Jesus, we will receive his holy spirit. Jesus accepts anyone who puts their faith in him and follows him. Gay or Straight, if we don't accept Jesus as our savior and King and give our lives over to him, we are lost, we will die in our sins and be judged and condemned. Yet, if we truly desire to know God and we put our trust in Jesus, we will be judged but not condemned. When we are saved we receive the Holy Spirit and our desires begin to change, things that were important no longer matter as much and we discover new desires that are pleasing to our Heavenly Father.
