I am 76 years old, have a 5 handicap, and am working toward zero by mid summer. I've seen a plethora of videos from many instructors. This has to be one of the best, if not the best and most useful instruction I've seen, period. You have outdone yourself, Zach.

"Really important.... the golfclub be traveling in an ellipse. ...it means the clubhead comes from inside the target line, back inside (the target line).... hands are working in a circle...they are going back, in, and up..all at the same time." Halleluiah brothers and sisters. I'm 72 and get my handicap into single digits by mid-summer. I also still have all but a dozen of all of the Golf Digests and Golf Magazines since 1973. My semi-crazy point is that I have seen it all, including the cottage industry of KZfaq PGA pros showing how they swing without really showing what it actually would look like to us, if we swung that way. Keep in mind there has never been a revenue reason to make golf simple, and sell less lessons and less magazines. Zach's overhead camera angle is just about revolutionary. Virtually nobody has ever attempted to teach golf from the student's perspective. It is always taught from the Instructor's perspective. "Do what I just did" and we're supposed to do it, without any idea what it is like from the pilot's seat. Bravo Zach Allen.

This video is the best illustration of what the swing path should be. I have been trying this method and it really has lowered my score from the mid 100’s to my lowest score of 88. I am new to the game of golf and this method has really allowed me to dedicate more time to practice and enjoy the game more. It also has given me confidence to swing all clubs. If I hit a bad shot I can usually get back on track because I know that with this swing I will probably be able to get the ball back in play.

The hand movement is a new thought for me. The ellipse concept is great. my initial practice in the backyard shows better contact and more distance. I can't wait to see if I can take this to the course!! The interesting thing is that I have played golf for many years and seen many a video about golf swings and this is the first time I've seen this explanation and demonstration concerning the movement of the hands in this manner GREAT Thanks Zach

I consider myself a serious golfer, meaning I believe knowledge is the key, and I practice a lot. This method is the opposite of most teaching. The swing path is either down the line, or outside the line with the hip turn squaring the club face is mostly taught. It just shows how complicated the golf swing can be. I like this analogy. It shows there's different ways and perspectives to getting the club face square consistently and with power. I've always said... it's never just one thing that makes your swing, or putt wrong. It's a constant search.

Addressing specifically to the title of "what Good Golfers See", should be to note the forward lean of the clubshaft at impact so the rotation of the hands will be beyond the line of sight to the ball, whether the swing procedure has a full wrist role as he is alluding to here (swinging) with the club coming back up the angle, or a half wrist role (hitting) with the club following farther down the target line instead. Very important, and not discussed here is the role of the pivot in causing the rotation. The drill is good in that it allows precise practice through impact where the player can focus emphasis on the feel of the 4 power accumulators working, and the 4 pressure points, again, driven by the rotation of the pivot. The last point would be to refer to ball placement, that being to get a good visual that the ball is located under the hinge that is the left shoulder. Playing the ball from under the hinge always, is the one constant when dealing with flat, uphill and downhill lies. Regards, Jess Doyle

I can’t think of anyone who explained the larger picture than what you just did. I have pieces of hands go left, swing from the inside, throw the club down the target line, take away down the target line, and my favorite; don’t swing hard until you reach last parallel. Now I understand how these pieces fit together and how some just don’t apply. Bonus: the physics make sense as well.Thank you.

The thing this video shows very clearly is the difference between the CLUBHEAD path and the HAND/GRIP-path. I used to think those were more or less the same, which obviously isn't. I'm one of those inside to outside swingers. Recently completely changed because of this video. I always said to people that THE best view of the golfswing is from the top, as your computer (brain/eyes) is situated there. In this video everything comes together. Thanks Zach

When I started concentrating on my hand path and not the clubhead hitting the ball everything fell into place. From setup to top of backswing to a full follow through the hands really have to travel quite a distance. I took many practice swings just concentrating on my hands and grip taking that path always leading the clubhead. I would use my peripheral vision to follow my hands and grip as they moved with my rotating torso. When I got to hitting practice shots I no longer looked the ball at all. Just the same focus on my hands and grip. Lo and behold the clubhead always got directly back to the ball without even trying. I now have great tempo and a full follow through and my transition is not rushed at all. Trying to consciously hit the ball with the clubhead was a big mistake and short circuited all the things I improved by focusing on just my hand path and rotation.

Pity I hadn’t seen this video on day one as it would have saved me a years of negatory effort and fruitless experimentation. I fear I would never have twigged it had I not stumbled into this overhead view. Thanks Zach.

FINALLY! Someone else did this! I remember seeing the Tiger video too. It was the biggest AHA moment I ever had. When I first started swinging the club....... I was setting up correctly, I had good grip, I just didn't know how to aim. That's when the bad men entered my life. Yes. The bad men that stand behind you and tell you what to do. Don't listen to those people. They'll destroy you as a human being because they get more satisfaction out of watching you fail and pay money than actually play good golf and enjoy life a bit. It's all at our finger tips now. KZfaq is HUGE. You can distinguish good teachers from the bad money hungry bastards out there really easy. Just listen to what they say... if it sounds like the last video you listened to, SKIP IT AND GO TO SOMETHING ELSE. You have to try EVERYTHING in this game. Even if you think you look funny, sound weird, don't hit the ball good right away, eventually if you keep grinding... focusing on feels and what those feels produce... you'll get it. I promise. It's easy to do, but very difficult to learn. It's a party trick. If you try to make that club go down the line like a lot of people say... you'll soon find out that there is no fun in it. Try this. You know how they say keep the arm straight right? Well ... mess around with that lead arm a bit. Adjust your body until you get it so your arm is easily going back straight. The secret to it is... don't watch the clubface right away. Just try and get that lead arm straight back with no effort. It feels like for me...... that i'm sweeping a hockey puck across the ice. It could be totally different for the next guy... so it's up to you to find out how to get that lead arm coming back straight and keeping straight until you pull the trigger.

Incredible. I like others have watched all kinds of videos calling to flip or pronate the wrists etc...this is the first time in 2 years of watching videos showing the actual professional hand, arm and club head movement. The most significant visual here is that your contact is not perpendicular on the ball at contact. You are clearly showing an angled club head contact which ONLY works if the hands lead the arch of the club. WHY hasn't anyone ever pointed out that we line up with the club perpendicular to the ball but we don't actually strike the ball that way. We LEAD with the heel, blade the ball and cast the ball upwards and forwards off the angle of contact.

Hi Zack, I am working with the same stuff with my swing. I have a tendency of pull my right elbow to in causing me to be flat with the backswing, I remedying that by keeping my elbow in front of my body. But my problem has been heel hits and open club face, with my irons I do get some draws and straight shots, but my driver is where my bad shots are slices , good shots are straight, will pull some shots also. Do you try to close the club face aka bowing your wrist more during the swing.

Intend to keep right palm facing the sky from top of BS through impact. The kinematic sequence ie proximal to distal acceleration then deceleration) will allow the turning torso to square the clubface(inside quadrant of the ball) and keep butt of the club(left hand) turning in arc up and behind our left hip.(Parametric acceleration. 2001, K.Miura)

Moe Norman arguably the greatest ball striker ever. In his mind, he said, that he SAW the clubface level with the ball 3 ft from behind to 3 ft in front of impact. Of course this isnt what actually happened, but arguably Moe Norman and Ben Hogan controlled the flight of the ball better than others..The longer the clubface is square to the target line, the more consistent our shots....all complex movement is subconsciously controlled...intent counts. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJt8eMidtKvGgZs.html 2:12 3 ft from behind to 3ft in front of impact, Moe kept his clubhead level with the ball. NOTE: right palm facing the sky in DS allowed Moe to accomplish the "vertical drop"

Practice in slow motion. Boring I know. Then do a drill with your hip already open and your hands and clubhead at the impact position. Now make small swings with an 7,8 or 9 iron. You should get low draws but very solid maybe 70-100 yds. This helps me immensely when I go astray. Also break Sachs concepts into 1/2 and 3/4 swings. Once you have mastered these ramp up the speed!
