The first boss battle in Tales of Symphobia is supposed to be unbeatable, and it is. But I was forced into that "He's too strong! We can't beat him!" cutscene after playing long enough without taking any damage.

Mother 3 also has a secret boss: the Porky statue that is invincible in Subspace Emissary. In its original game, it has over 99 million HP and takes minimal damage. You can beat it by using a New Year's Eve Bomb, an item that reduces an enemy's HP to 1. Going by the dialogue, this is completely intentional as the witnesses mention how easily you destroyed it. But what happens if you theoretically defeat It normally? Game crash. For non-Nintendo games, there's Zoma from Dragon Quest 3. He's also meant to be a puzzle boss: he has ridiculously high stats that are reduced by using the Light Orb. But if you grind enough, probably by tackling the additional dungeons in the remakes, you can actually defeat him without using it. This is also referenced in Dragon Quest 11, where you have to use the Super Sword of Light (no, the Supreme Sword of Light doesn't count despite being a superior version of the Sword of Light) as an item to remove Calasmos' dark veil and take him on. Despite the Definitive Edition boosting his dark veil stats even more to the point that he takes longer to kill than the Timewyrm, he can still be beaten in both the original release and the updated version. Just make sure to have a 30 minute extension of a song or two, because my successful fight against a dark veil empowered DE Calasmos took so long that the 30min FFIX Necron boss theme ran out before the fight was over. It gives you the same ending, so don't try it unless you really want to find out why the Friend Of Time was so eager to test if you'd have what it takes to defeat Calasmos. Two more traditional examples are the fights against Etna and Laharl in Disgaea 2. The two are the first game's main characters and you're still in the main story, so don't expect to win on your first run. That's what new game + is for. Defeat Etna and you'll get a joke ending where Adell gets awarded a Demon Lord title, which he hates so much the game ends. Defeat Laharl without having to resort to *SPOILERS* and you'll get another joke ending where he hates losing so much that he blows up the planet, which causes the game to end.

Honestly I'd be all for Pat streaming/playing Golden Sun. It's one of the best JRPGs ever made

Fun fact: I thought PokeDoll was the actual way to get past Cubone's mother when I was little cause I did that before ever knowing the silph scope was a thing. It took me many years to figure out the PokeDoll was actually just a work-around and not how it was meant to be beaten.

There's actually a boss fight in Lufia 2 for the Super Nintendo, where you fight one of the major boss Demigods, named Gades. It's a "Scripted Loss", more or less, because he's WAY strong than you. But, If you DO manage to beat him, it actually gives you a special item called the Gades Blade!

the reason why you cant win the race as golden fox is because the cpus are all faster than the golden fox, and the map design, is too simple so their is no way to catch up if you fall behind

It's too bad they didn't randomize to encounter a self-destruct Pokemon in the catching tutorial. If I remember right, the battle ends like usual with the same text, which is even funnier because clearly the Pokemon doesn't want to be caught.

In randomizer nuzlockes how do you deal with early route dragonrage?

In xenoblade chronicles 2, I was constantly overleveled in every fight up until chapter 8. So everytime a cutscene happened after or mid fight, it would show my party struggling or losing despite kicking the enemies' ass. I stopped overleveling after chapter 7 because I was tired of the cutscenes not making any fucking sense in a game as good as Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

What? I've played the original F-Zero & raced as the Golden Fox car & at Death Wind 1. It's not impossible at all unless you take a lot of damage.

There was a pokemon rom hack that had you fight against level 20 somethings when you only have access to level 8 or so pokemon I grinded until I was able to win I got a crap ton of money and the rom hack creator asked did I cheat then said look just pretend I won I think it was a team rocket hack I don't remember which one but you fight red also professor oak is the final bad guy
