This was a disaster that cost a lot of time and money, watch to find out.

You could put a hitch on the trailer and run a Mexican road train.
@SlipFitGarage2 жыл бұрын
You had to physically try putting boat/trailer onto your trailer before you realized it wasn't going to fit? No tape measure, eh'?
@southernboy97862 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing makes $4600 on one trip and can't but a damn $35 tape measure to leave in the truck 🤦♂️🤦♂️

Boat had to go, the easy way or the hard way
@southernboy97862 жыл бұрын
@@DangerIndustries and you definitely chose the hard way we can see that I completely understand that the customer lied about the size of the boat but YOU could've definitely made that way easier by having a tape measure in the truck so you didn't have to waste you're time or the customer's time nor would've had the the reason to charge an extra $300 for the pussy footin around loading it on the trailer just to say it won't fit

All the things your saying the customer should be doing it right should actually be questions you should be asking them. It’s your job to get it right and you do it every single day where your customer does not. All you needed to ask was what is the length from the front of the trailer to the furthest point on the back, just like the ferry’s ask…

Are you double trailer certified if so you should get a trailer hitch mounted on the rear bumper of the trailer so you can just double trailer something like that to save you time and money
@baconmcbacon622 жыл бұрын
Remember, folks, when asking for a shipping quote, it can’t only be a-boat this long. Use your tape measure!
@aaronschinlaub97042 жыл бұрын
Do you have a hitch on the back of your gooseneck trailer some trailers got a square tube welding in where you can put a hitch receiver you could just pull the boat behind your trailer
@DangerIndustries2 жыл бұрын
It would be WAY over length for a double

Gotta love when the customer doesn’t grasp the concept of space and time LOL I run in to it all the time with the outfit I work for. They ask how long, how wide and how tall a piece we can move. I tell them just imagine it has to fit in this imaginary box, 8.5 feet wide, 8.5 feet tall and 60 feet long. If it doesn’t fit in that we can use a different trailer, if it’s a piece that is 12 wide my blanket permits will cover it, if it’s 11 feet tall and under 25 feet long I can use a double drop trailer but much more than that I’m going to need a week to order more permits. Then you show up and they have something that’s 69 or 85 feet long thinking that it’s OK to go because “Two out of three works, right?” LOL

VERY frustrating. Do you charge then for your time or is there nothing we can really do?

@@DangerIndustries I charge them for all the extras, time and materials, permits and whatever it takes to make the job happen.

Well bud lesson learned so now when your talking to the customers ask them to double check there measurements or what not. Other than that looks like it be a nice easy job to do but idk how you can sit in that truck like that 24/7 my damn back hurts after a few hours driving.

I guess get pictures or have the customer measure the item while on the phone. If the item isn't near them, they could still supply you with a stock photo and stock dimensions. Oh well. You always make it work out

I would’ve asked for the Length of the boat and trailer combo. You could’ve took in the motor off would’ve been a pain in the butt but it would’ve gave you a little extra more room. But it probably wouldn’t have been enough !!

Why don’t you demand a picture of each and every load before accepting a job ?

Can't pull doubles behind a gooseneck in Canada? Here one would run over to a weld shop and have a hitch welded to the back of your trailer.
@DangerIndustries2 жыл бұрын
It would be over length
@aaronschinlaub97042 жыл бұрын
Here's one other thing when somebody ever gives you a model off of a boat look it up it will tell you this is the length of the trailer this is the overall length of the boat even knowing that the boat is 20 ft it will describe everything to you that you need to know I always look this up on Google on even trucks and cars and it will tell you the actual links linked
@DangerIndustries2 жыл бұрын
I will try! Never trusting the customer again. I understand swim platforms and extras but this thing had a whole 3ft welded transom sticking out haha

**Common questions answered** -Yes I measured it, but it was going to have to go either way. Declining this boat was not an option. - Doubles are only allowed up to a certain length in Quebec. My single trailer is already over and illegal in Quebec. - The boat was supposed to be loaded onto the neck of the trailer, with a loader, but because of the length, the engine would have hit the deck first and that wouldnt have worked at all.
@barblemons53972 жыл бұрын
If you had a picture you could have seen the outboard engine hanging 4 foot from the boat before taking the job. Once burned I don’t go back and get in that line again.

I committed to 20ft, not 25. It would have been loaded on the.neck of the trailer.

Still your fault for not making sure exactly what customer was measuring. Been driving over 45yrs and you always need to double and triple check everything. Never only go by what customer says and not ask questions.

Doesn't everybody know what a Silver Dolphin 19.5 is? I'm sure you asked him if it was on a trailer. And then how long the tongue is or is it a folding tongue.?! You are the Logistics Specialist and nobody knows more about the capabilities of YOUR equipment than you. If there is something that can cause a restriction or price difference, YOU should be the one to ASK the QUESTION! THEN: When you pick it up and you have seen the item, your acceptance is your guarantee that you can and will move the merchandise as negotiated. I'm not so sure you will have this "customer" again in the future.
@DangerIndustries2 жыл бұрын
He didnt say 19.5 ... he said 20ft, read the email. We talked for a while and he seemed very happy and spoke about future jobs. If not, then its understandable. I also have customers that are bang on weight and size all the time
