"Sentimentality" - a sense of nostalgia and fondness for past events. The "perverted sentimentality" is bringing back the world only to destroy it once again. Chara cannot understand such feelings- Why destroy the world just to bring it back? Why keep repeating it if you already know what happens? Chara sees value in gaining power, but such a thing is not useful at all if you just keep starting back at square one. Perhaps another path would be better suited- They're talking about the pacifist route, as that ending has now been altered in their favor.

Even Chara is tired of the no mercy run.

Kind of makes you think a lot more about Chara as a whole after this. Its like the first time you meet them, they offer you the partnership to scare you so you'll do better next time. Now they know there is no 'better' for you. I've seen a lot of portrayals of Chara as this bloodthirsty killer for years, but having seen this, the fact they beg you to do better really shines a new light on things.

It saddens me how Chara is one of the most misunderstood character ever. We don't realise that we the PLAYERS are the ANTAGONIST of the genocide route. We the players can choose, either be the protagonist of the story or the antagonist of the story.

Toriel and Chara both greet you as 'Greetings' while Asgore and Flowey greet you as 'Howdy'... Why am I only realizing this now?

I love how Asgore says "What kind of monster are you?" So that people can go "Oh, actually, I'm not a mons- well... um."

When Chara discovers calculators: "Every time a number increases, that feeling..." When Chara thinks you're not listening: "I am Chara. 'C-h-a-r-a.'" Every horror movie ever: "Time after time, I will appear."

I just realized that Chara is short for Character, as in a character sheet. The only thing that matters to a player is whether their character’s stats increase and improve, regardless of the source of their improvement.

It's so creepy it knows you played again on genocide. It's like when you kill Toriel, but go back so you don't, and flowey knows.

Just saying this based off of various resources and passing it on. Flowey's dialogue right before you kill him goes on by itself, you cannot skip it but you cannot leave it because it progresses on its own without your input. You also kill Asgore without input from the player, walk towards Papyrus and skip his puzzles without input, etc. That's the character themselves doing that. When Flowey comes around it does this with his dialogue right until the very end, where he puts on the voice of Asriel and desperately asks you not to kill him. The dialogue stops going by itself. You don't have to murder Flowey. But you, the player, do. Here Chara gives _you_ the choice, the final decision. Like they need confirmation of what they're about to do. If you go back now and reset the game you are free of consequence regarding the TP ending. It's only once you kill Flowey do you ever see Chara and screw up the pacifist ending as well. Chara gave you the choice of input to kill one last time. Chara _hesitated_ Hope that all made sense, correct me if I got something wrong.

I like the details this game has, it gives everything a sense of weight, nothing is forgotten (through natural means that is). I also appreciate this alternate dialog because it cements something really important about Chara's character. Chara isn't a mindless killer, they do things with purpose. Chara talks about the Geno Route like a mission. Beat enemies, get stronger, and win. With all that said and done what purpose would there be in redoing it, barring what Chara calls "Perverted Sentimentality". A desperate want to take apart and scour through every little detail of something you once held dear until your enjoyment of it is artificial, without purpose. Chara understands this, they're a completionist and nothing more. It's a game to them, like how it was to Flowey, it's just that they can and do see things through. It's also interesting that Chara values the pacifist route, they don't hate monsters and don't particularly want them killed, but a win's a win. Chara's soul is an analog for the player's actions and I don't think they particularly like it when you fling it around all willy nilly without a reason, there's purpose behind replaying the Pacifist Route or Neutral Routes (secrets, missed information, yadda yadda) but not the Geno Route, it's not even fun.

"There is a reason you continue to recreate this world." The people who only do the genocide run to fight sans: "I don't know what you're talking about!"

She says this so you can beat the game normally and escape into the world.

Just gonna say: People who say Chara Possesses you, think about this: Is the game playing itself? No. Is the game Selecting FIGHT? No. You are the one doing this genocide. EDIT: Yes, there are SOME moments where Chara/The Game attacks enemies and does actions for you, but you're the one who activley chooses the genocide route.

A lot of people don't understand Chara because all they see is a little part of them, but look at it from their pov. You fall down a hole in a mountain, according to Asriel, it wasn't a very good reason. (Most likely suicide) You have a hatred for humans. (Connect the dots) You were taken in by a monster family. One day you and the kid you look at as a brother are baking something and mistake butter for buttercups. You accidentally poison your new father. Even though it's a terrible situation, you laugh it off because everyone deals with pain differently. Eventually you learn that in order to save the civilization you've come to love, you need the souls of humans. You hatch a plot to poison yourself, fuse with your brother, kill a few humans so you can free everyone! But it doesn't work, you die and are awakened by another human years later. This new human has determination just like you. You're forced to follow them, narrate and tell them information about your home, but they murder everyone you loved. You come to realize that you were brought to life for this purpose and your soul is filled with hatred. At the end you destroy everything, thinking that that is your purpose, only to have everything happen blamed on you. Isn't that a little fucked up?
