Because I was told dark purple walls were "too dark" and fairy figures were "too childish". Being too much into celebrities. I'm in a number of fandoms, and every time I talk to a fan online or want to follow a fanpage i first look through their page to make sure they're not crazily obsessed with the fandom's subjects. Some of the things I've seen: - celebrating birthdays of a celebrity's kids -calling someone a fake fan because they didn't recognize a celebrity's mother in law -arguing about who's better for a celebrity, their current partner or an ex -bullying and harrassing somebody else just because their favourite celebrity is feuding with them -after a celebrity dies, acting like they're hurting just as much as that celebrity's friends and family -constantly talking about how 'hot' a celebrity is and sexualizing them -taking sides in in-group/ familial feuds And that's not even the half of it! Don't get me wrong, I'm really into some of my fandoms and can go on and on about them for hours- but i stay the hell out of the people's private lives. That's just creepy af

20:08 I agree with this because it reflects something that I personally had to experience. When I was little, (I was 12 to be precise), and my sister 2, mom got afflicted with hypothyroidism and she was one of the cases that needed the destruction of her thyroid gland by radioactive iodine. During that time we were medically forbidden of going with mom and for her to come close to us was just as forbidden because she could literally (albeit unwillingly) exude that radiation and sicken us. Dad worked as a teacher back in the day and sometimes my grandpa (by my father side) came in to watch over us but for some things I had to step up filling the necessary place of an adult, changing my sis diapers, making her food (the mashed potatoes, mango, or whatever she was taking at that moment). I had to make some financial decisions, etcetera... I literally had to fill in as an adult for some things and during some time. And when that time was over I kept doing so until my late teen years. I begun collecting Model kits and many things because I begun watching Mecha anime, the child long forgotten by that situation resurfacing to make up for the lost childhood time. I, to this day, still collect those model kits…

As a woman and a geek, honestly lewd anime figures are ok in my book, as long as it's not child characters! My ex (I was with him 7 years) had many anime figures, the two of us were big anime watchers and yeah, lewd figures are often better quality. Or super badass ones, those are super cool! Sadly badass ones are often way more expensives. You can found nice figurines without being lewd, but depending on the anime, sometimes it's more easy and sometimes it's really hard to find non lewd ones. So my ex had a mix of badass and kinda lewd figures. He wasn't a creep, and still isn't, he's just passionate about anime he loved and want figures as keepsakes of his favorites animes. They don't watch tv, read books, play video games, etc. They're really and i mean REALLY hard to figure out what to have a conversation about when all they do is work, eat, sleep, and repeat. If you say, "have you seen (insert movie here)?" Then the person replies with, "No. I don't have hobbies." That's a big red flag.. @@Interdacted you playing video games and watching movies is a hobby. Just by that knowledge alone, I can cherry pick and narrow down which video games and movies we've seen so we can have a conversation about. For example, if we were hanging out and I asked you, "Do you play death stranding?" And you answered with, "no. I haven't." I'd ask, "Have you played call of duty mw2 the 2022 release?" And continue to narrow down the video games we can have a conversation about. The same applies to the movies we have in common. I might ask, "Have you seen any of the Star wars movies?" And if you reply with, "yes I have." I might start a conversation about Star wars. I'm talking about people who constantly reply with, "No. I haven't seen it" or "No. I haven't played it" whenever you ask them, "have you played (insert video game here. Team fortress 2 for example)" or "have you seen (insert movie here.)" It's super difficult to figure out what to talk about whenever you ask them about anything and their reply is, "No. I haven't."

I posted a picture of Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee after picking them up at GameStop since I preordered them, and this person posted on my profile that those games are “bad” and that Pikachu and Eevee are “badly designed Pokémon” trying to force their own opinion on me as if it were a fact. I don’t have a problem with people hating Pokémon I like or vice versa. Personally, I love Pikachu and Eevee. I have a bunch of Pikachu merch as well as an Eevee alarm clock in my room. I bet this person never even played Let’s Go Pikachu or Eevee.

Model railways are fine (I am a member of the Sam's Trains community). But they can get a touch.... obsessive! Same for trainspotters (also known as gricers or foamers), which I used to be as a child (into young adulthood). I suppose it is probably harmless, all you'll get is a nerdy obsessive, but.....😉😥 Ps. BTW, I read a lot of Marshall McLuhan. I think I am reasonably safe. Hope you like conversations about communication, though!

I have a lot of hobbies and can talk about a lot of various topics (my disclaimer). Being an adult, it’s nice to live out the joys I couldn’t as a child. There were a lot of things I wanted and wanted to experience but simply couldn’t because I grew up in a poorer household. It’s nice to be able to find that joy now that I’m an adult and have money in the budget for small joys.

Not a weeb - well, not really; I like anime/manga sometimes - but a huge nerd. I collect a lot of art posters (Jason Metcalf is a great artist and I have a few of his pieces, as well as a few other things) as well as a couple pop figures and some collectible Pez dispensers...bunch of different stuff. I like collecting stuff, including actions figures. I have a Jay Garrick Flash figure still in the box hanging on my wall. I don't think collecting toys and the like is necessarily a red flag, but I think it depends on what you're collecting. Headshots of girls you wanna boink? Now THAT's a red-flag collection...

People who post "family content" not every moment in your life needs to be documented and posted. The "moving into my first apartment" or "apartment tour" or "house tour" videos are fine became they help people or at least provide motivation. But if you involve kids in your content creation is where I draw a line in the sand.

19:35 I would say it depends on what it is. Some people are neurodivergent and end up with hyperfixations and special interests, and it's all they want to talk about (mine is Supernatural).

That's what I was thinking too. I am the person who is way into one thing, to the point it's strained some friendships. (ADD!) However, most of the time, it really is just a quirk or a neurodivergency. If you're willing to hear about natural disasters, magic the gathering or model horses all the time, people with hyperfixations can be great friends.

Yeah, I agree. I'm neurodivergent myself and I remember these points in my life where I had this one subject that I would only talk about. Like during around my preteen years, I got really into Adventure Time to the point where I was annoying people by only talking about that particular show.

For me it’s those people that you can’t be friends with a boy and a girl, and always asking “what’s your type? Is that your boyfriend?” It drove me insane, but she will only date black boys with dreadlocks and are taller than her. Also, I’m a horse girl, I don’t take offence but I’m just wondering what they were talking about, it really depend on the people, barrel racers… Well if you love snotty rude, competitive, sassy, bratty, always complaining, has no reguards for then safety of others, then the barrel racer is for you! Trust me there are better people.

I even caught people recording me without permission. She was a register girl and seemed to put on quite a show for nothing. I felt like maybe I would of been the next "karen" but some times people bring out the karen in you! If she was live on anything hopefully any1 watching sees her for what she is. I called her out like idk if yer recording but you can calm down(or something like that it was a long time ago)

I've got a few that usually take some explanation. To start off, I have pretty bad ADHD, so when I get into a thing, I REALLY get into that thing until the stimulation wears out. I have a lot of collections. No one cares that I have a hundred signed concert posters, and band merch, but the Gunpla models on every shelf, and the Lego kits admittedly give off an immature vibe. The one that gets people though is guns. I like building things, and creating, and figuring out mechanics and such (See the aforementioned Gunpla and Lego collections). Ok, so I had an AR, and I wanted to add some parts, but I was afraid to break it...well, screw it. I'll figure it out. Took it all apart and put it back together. Tore it down again, and added some upgrades. Nice. Well, they're all boring black rifles. I want to make a cool one. Blue anodized! Built from scratch! Well...I almost expanded my chemistry collection by a factor of 5 learning to anodize, and I have a full gunsmithing set of tools now...and 19 more AR rifles. Yeah...in the current climate, explain that one to a new person in your house. Or a girl for that matter. Even to a gun nut, 20 AR's is...excessive. I haven't even shot half of them. I just like building. Dunno...maybe it's the obsessive collecting and ADHD that's the red flag lol.

@The1andonlyAbber
@The1andonlyAbber Жыл бұрын
IMO watching stuff about fictional serial killers for entertainment or learning about real crimes for educational purposes is fine, but when those purposes get flipped, it’s a problem. When people treat horrifying TRUE stories like they’re something that should be consumed in the same way as fiction, it shows a serious lack of empathy. When people think embellished and stereotype-filled shows like Criminal Minds will teach them everything about something (rather than just inspire them to look into that thing further), they end up with potentially dangerous misconceptions.

I tend to get a lot of people trying to get me to argue with them. I will rise to the bait but I’m trying really hard not to. People that want to fight animals or kill animals for sport or to get them off their land, those people deserve to have insane abuse done to them before being drug out into the street and shot or run over by an 18 wheeler. People that kill animals (besides cows and chickens because their meant for food)…yeah if that red flag was any bigger it would be a blanket the size of Saturn. I don’t see anything wrong with adopting a lot of kids and pets, but not when you can’t afford them or just want them for clout.

Story 16: there are just some people who should never have any power because it goes to their head. There are people who take moderating subreddits or community groups as the most important thing they'll do in life and/or power trip because they can control who gets to be a part of the group. It's both pathetic and annoying.
@TheFelixverse

I'm actually a person who moderates a large community on Discord. It's important to me simply because I'm very passionate about said community, but it's not the number one greatest thing in my life nor is it the most important. I have yet to meet anyone who's taken their role too far or goes on power trips, and I really hope it stays that way.

@@TheFelixverseOh yeah you don't want to. I remember reading about a person who got harassed by mods because there art style looked too much like the style AI uses. They literally had playback vids recording them drawing, it's common on programs like Ibis Paint, but were refused. On another subreddit I got banned for "promoting racism." In my post I wrote that I did not like the racist way some of my coworkers spoke. I'm half black. Did they expect me to shut up and start acting like the period before the Civil War?

Ug I knew a guy who was into anime porn. Okay if not an obsession. But he had items of these characters all over his house. His mouse pad, posters, desktop background. He’d have his mom over and not put anything away. If she warned him it was too much. All of these items were naked too. He’d also joke about things in the shows a lot. Definitely felt like way more than a hobby.
