I find it to be interesting that we are called the healer, but most Infp's I have watched (and what I have noticed through personal experience) is that we don't really feel like a healer. I'm not entirely sure why, but that is what I have noticed. How about everyone else?

@@MsDoryLinda You know, I'm not really sure. I don't think that it is necessarily a bad thing, it's just something I have noticed and felt. To be honest though, I'm not even entirely sure that I am even explaining this right or if it is just me. As for how I would like to feel, I think that most of the time I would like to feel like people are thankful for the love that I think that I show them. But I'm also not angry with them or anything, and wanting to be appreciated is a normal feeling for everyone to have, it's just interesting to me the different reasons people want to be appreciated and the different ways that it is shown. Sorry if this is too long 😬 but thank you too for your channel I love it so much and appreciate the work that you do ♥️♥️

Thank you Dory, I have a hard time understanding what the point of "me" is. I was struggling with this before I knew I was INFP. I have hated myself for the very things that are because of my personality type, and have wanted to be more "normal" for so very long. Its not that I want to be "normal", I just want peace. I live in a society where I don't really belong and besides what I can produce for it, I have no value. I wish I could have peace within but I'm not sure how.

It's tough navigating the world that keeps discarding what you posses and elevating qualities that are so different from your being state. Personally, I've gone through and still are on a healing journey. We also have to develop self awareness from a healthy point of view so we can re-write the narrative. Which is what I aim to do with these videos and what I do when I work with clients. I'd encourage you to find support from someone who'd uplift who you are rather than try to get you to be more of this or the other. We can always change and grow but we do that better when we start from self acceptance and love. Has that answered your question?

Wow. Your description of Introversion blew me away... I had heard the notion that it's not so much about how social a person is, but rather how they prefer to recharge. And I think that certainly relates to how you described it, but oh my, the way you talked about the sensitivity to being overloaded and overwhelmed by stimuli... that really resonated with me! And I'm someone who - throughout my childhood and teen years, and much of my adult life - always considered myself an extrovert. I'm very outgoing and social. But, especially in this past year of much introspection, I have found that my sensitivity to stimuli and to the vibes of the people around me and environments I'm in... have made me realize just how much I need and value alone time. I just might have been an introvert all along! :) Also, oh my gosh, the way you talk about INFPs as the big idea people, the visionaries, the idealists... these are so ME too! You've really opened my mind to some very important parts of myself, and also framed them in such a way that I am reminded that they are gifts and not just frustrations with myself and the world around me. Thank you, Ms Dory!!!! Wishing you all the best, Jordan Toronto

This video really made me feel understood..which is not easy for me 😀💚 thank you For many reasons I often feel different and lonely around people. It's like we have almost nothing in common. That's why I don't like socializing most of the time. Actually, I think I'm able to communicate with plants, objects and animals..but not people. 🤷🏽‍♀️ In my mind I often talk to trees or everyday objects.. I think this is common INFP thing 🤔 (not sure).. But people just don't understand that. So I have to worry and hide all the time. Otherwise they would call me crazy and make fun of me. Another example - I feel really connected to animals so I don't want to eat them, this would make me feel REALLY guilty. I just hate cruelty. But unfortunately, most people don't give a 💩 about animals 😕🤷🏽‍♀️ or at least this is what my experience shows. And the list just goes on... There are so many things people don't like about me and as many things I don't like about them. 😐 I don't want to offend anyone but that's the truth. Gossip, malice, intrigues, hypocrisy, lust, cruelty.. I can't and don't want to accept these things 🤦🏽‍♀️ but they are soo common. And most of the time I end up really disappointed, so I just isolate myself from people. And I'm happier without them. I'm not lonely. Actually, they are the ones making me feel lonely and misunderstood. It's like I live in a world made of cupcakes, rainbows and unicorns. 🧁🌈🦄 But the majority can't see them. So according to society I'm the one who need to change, to adapt or to be fixed. I often think I'm not created for this rational extroverted "civilization". Does this make sense to anyone? 😬 Or is it just me? I'm wondering 😏 (please, excuse my English 😬)

the challenge for me (early and adult years) is reconciling the seemingly opposite aspects of myself. For instance, I am fascinated by the world, and other people. Enjoy learning and connecting with others. Ideas percolate my mind all the time. I see images popping up. My inner world is multidimensional and asymmetrical. Yet, it is challenging to translate that into the 3D objective reality. And the paradox is that I would like to express these, share them. Weave it all together. Synthesize and create. Yet, when I do, it feels odd. I care not that I appear odd to others. What deters me is that others do not have the same level of engagement with their own imagination. They may not be able to keep up. And being an empath, I actually do not want others to feel that they have to 'try' to keep up and relate to me. I appreciate the natural flow of sharing and being with others. Effortful ways of engaging with the world...performing, proving, obsession with results etc. all that feels so foreign to me.

Sara, what you have described is something I believe so many of us here wrestle with. Myself included. Just this past week I was weighing ideas I want to implement in my self-employment and felt so conflicted because I couldn't see if I could afford (time wise) to invest in them if they weren't going to also contribute financially. So the point you made about effortful engagement is spot on for me. The things that come effortless to me don't always (at least in my mind) translate to what the world would receive, value and be willing to financially pay for. Not that because they're not of value, but for the reason you've pointed out, not having the same level of engagement with their own inner world and depth.

This was one of the best I've seen. I've never heard about the cortical arousal reason for needing time out. It's a much more positive reason than a generic 'introverts can't handle hectic social situations'. It such a great explanation of why. Excellent vid. Thanks!

I actually just found out about all these different personality types a few days ago and I definitely think I’m an INFP. I think the biggest challenge I’ve faced in my life is not being that great at what I’m passionate about doing, but being really good at what makes me feel emotionally drained and unmotivated. I’ve also dealt with a lot of self doubt and feelings of not really fitting in with anyone I know throughout my life and never really understood why until now ❤️

OH man yes I learned something. I'm gonna follow you on instagram too. I am a mediator, very empathetic, CREATIVE TO THE SOUL, and all my life my feelings...those intense feelings have always been present in everything and in everyway and the older I've gotten and learned about this...makes sooo much more sense as to why I was the I was growing up and to how I am now. But the phrase you said at the beginning is nearly the same what Monk always said on the t.v. show about how his quirks and personality drove and made who he was. "It's a gift, and a curse." I adopted that as my saying for explaining how I feel about being an HSP or INFP. It makes me who I am and how I experience things so differently than others or how I can help others see things differently so worth it but the triggers, the drain and all the other downsides of being INFP, though difficult to cope with sometimes, it still makes me..me and appreciate what good it does bring. God made me this sensitive, feeling person for a reason and I am so glad and so blessed.

That you are an INFP gives you the credibility to share your thoughts about our type. Wonderfully done, too! At the 9:29 mark, you almost seemed to convey an observation that it's the ESTJ society that creates us, as in a reaction. But you would get how long, and how much our Introverted feeling exerts it's own influence on how we view that society, and our lack of interest in so much of what they think is worth focusing on.

I relate so much to the desire of understanding why people do what they do and understanding the mind! That's been fascinating to me since a young age as well -- Your video makes me wonder if I'm an idealist as I definitely relate to being an empath and how you explain their motivation (internal vs. external)
@MsDoryLinda

Kristen you should definitely find out. I've found that the more I've come to understand my disposition the more enriched my life and work has become. Idealists have such depth and richness to their personality, I'm always fascinated the more I learn about personality types with this temperament.

@@KristenChittock there are loads of options, one of the free options available is from www.16personalities.com/ Give it a try, I'd be interested to know what you find 😊. The four personality types that are said to have the Idealist temperaments are the NFt types (INFJs INFPs ENFJs & ENFPs). But there are people who still categorize themselves as idealists even though they don't particularly fall into these personality types.

I wish you did an insight in the cognitive function to help people that are new to type and help them understand themselves better and also INFPs is one of the personalities type that is the most mistyped because people take test like the 16personalities.com one (this is the most problematic because It can't even be called an MBTI test because they don't type you based on your cognitive functions they type you based on weird stereotypes such as if you think your a jealous person then you'll have to be a type that has the stereotype of being jealous, when in reality all of the types can feel jealousy but maybe they do for different reasons)
@MsDoryLinda
@MsDoryLinda 4 жыл бұрын
Maria thanks for your feedback. There certainly is a lot of controversy around MBTI as a whole. There are so many wonderful channels here on KZfaq that focus on typing personalities but that's not the focus of this channel. Here we as a community focus on creating calm, reduce overwhelm and gain career freedom for those whose traits are aligned to introversion and high sensitivity. The videos that touch on personalities are there to simply link to the 3 areas mentioned. Hope that clarifies what you can and shouldn't expect from this channel 🙂

I am told I was meant to be a leader. How do we get past the introversion and the shyness to get to this level? I don’t want to change who I am, I want to honor me especially if INFP is this unique. I’m the INFP-T so fear of failure haunts me all the time and makes the introversion worse.
@MsDoryLinda
@MsDoryLinda 3 жыл бұрын
Can you elaborate a bit more what you mean by "getting past the introversion"?
@gracieroberts4562
@gracieroberts4562 3 жыл бұрын
@@MsDoryLinda I don’t want to try to put myself out there and then not be happy because I have more expectations, more people to engage with, more responsibilities, etc... but then I feel inadequate because I’m not “living to my full potential.” The introversion of my INFP likes to do one on one work and by that I did choose to be a massage Therapist... and it fits, but then I’m persuaded into “owning my own business” and although I tried it, I couldn’t handle the stress and I didn’t have the energy to meet the new responsibilities that came a long with being a business owner. I feel like my introversion is a blockage that I can’t excel with to move forward?
@MsDoryLinda
@MsDoryLinda 3 жыл бұрын
I understand where you're coming from. Owning a business requires wearing a lot of hats and in the beginning every hat feels "important" so I get it. There are ways you can validate your idea and see if you can sustainably do it in the way that fits you. If you ever want to see if that's viable for you, reach out and I'll see if I can help you with this. forms.gle/rJyRSdP5UeXgzCeY9
