My bunny is on this currently. He is pretty weak and lethargic and the vet said he’s dying. I opted to fight for his life, so the vet gave me this. I can see my bunny slowly gaining life back. He’s eating on his own now and he seems to be feeling better after each serving. This product is awesome

My bunny last year fell severely ill last year. He just suddenly stopped pooping and eating, which needed urgent attention. The vet didn't find anything which was even more stressful on him and myself, and prescribed Critical Care. And since then I always keep a sealed bag of the brown "Fine Grind" type, which is easier on syringes and dissolving (but I guess costs more). Best investment to always keep on hand. So I had to force feed him this food paste, which is an entire different ordeal, but I figured out an easy way to syringe feed him, even though he tried to hop away when "it was time". I respected the minimum daily dosages for his weight, and mixed syringes here and then with some banana and ground oatmeal dissolved in water which has some nutrients as well. This was so critical, and my bunny luckily survived, but if it weren't for Critical Care, I don't know if he'd have recovered as fast (about a week), if at all, they always need to digest something. Ever since then I'd feel anxiety if I didn't have a sealed bag on hand.

You may not be a veterinarian but you give me more advice than my vets have ever done,wish I had seen this before I lost my rabbit I probably could have saved him, my vet was useless and they are one of the most expensive ones.

I did the absolute worst thing ever and gave her the wrong pest treatment 😭 I came home to her shutting down and did a quick google and just started her critical care. I couldn’t get her to a vet overnight so it saved her and they flushed her system with fluids and now she is almost back to normal. I just hate forcing her to have medicine but absolutely have to for the next two weeks. She tries to bury her head into the blanket burrito 🥺🥺🥺 Mini Lops are too cute

My bunny used to eat and drink out the palm of my hand. She was so cute and lovely! She slept in bed with me and used to lick the tears off my face when I was crying. I can remember one time she got scared and I comforted her, she also was terrified of fire works and I could feel it, she jumped up into my arms instinctively and I took her to my bed to calm her down!!!!

Great advice 👍 I highly recommend Critical Care. Our buns prefer the fine grind, they very willingly eat it from a spoon and with liking it so much they even try to lick the smell off the spoon too 😅
@spoingal

critical care was essential for keeping my rabbit alive when he was suffering from head tilt for two weeks - he had no appetite of his own during that time and required feedings split up into multiple times per day as well as getting water into him because he was dehydrated (he needed sub q fluids at first!) and we didnt wanna force him to take too much at once. it was difficult to get it the right consistency for the syringe, and it'd get out the side of his mouth since we werent squirting it directly down his throat. so eventually we switched to spooning it into his mouth with little plastic baby spoons, like the kind you use to feed a human baby. that actually worked a lot better for us and might help if you have a small rabbit with a small mouth. much easier to control whats going in there than the syringe. we still used the syringe to measure out how much he was getting during the feedings and kept that day's critical refrigerated in the syringe for those times. either way it still took a long time to do...you can imagine the tears of relief when he started to recover his appetite again!! now we are never without a stock of critical care. its a pain to get it from the vet so we usually order it on amazon in a bulkier package and keep it in the freezer til it's needed.

Such an important topic. You did a great job of presenting the needed material that all rabbit owners should know about. BTW- Ellie looks larger than 6 lbs. She must be a very furry bun. So fun to see her in these videos.

You do a really good job without being arrogant. Too many rabbit care videos never even mention the option of consulting a vet, which is understandable for meat rabbit or high volume breeders but for pet owners their bunny is no different than a dog or cat . My bunnies are free-roaming, which I know is frowned upon by many, but I consider their health and wellbeing a priority and wouldn't hesitate to consult a vet.

A blender, pellets and water is really all you need; in fact, it's usually quite a bit healthier and much cheaper. If you want your bun to really enjoy it, blend in some safe herbs like mint, basil, cilantro, etc, etc or even a very small amount of fruit like an apple or pineapple slice, or even a very small amount of apple sauce. If they're not drinking enough water, be sure to really water it down. The most important thing with syringe feeding any animal, is to go very slow the first few times.

I never want to see or smell another bag of critical care..the emergency hospital that was supposed to do everything they could to Davy my companion has murdered my baby..they insisted he had an illness without testing or any other evidence that he had the snuffles. Force fed critical care to do everything I could to stop the stasis but he passed away a week ago now in my arms. I’m just so broken. But critical care can save a rabbits life if rabbit is going into stasis.

unless you are touching another animal like a bird, or someone with a weak immune system like a baby, i dont think rabbits germs are very dangerous. but it is always a good idea to wash your hands if you touch an animal's feces or urine, and if the rabbits fur has some on it then perhaps. rabbits are pretty clean though if theyre fixed so they shouldnt have those on them. i think it is also a good idea to wash your hands before touching a rabbit since they can contract illnesses too!

Something very wierd happened with my bunny last night. He was in his play pin sleeping and I was sleeping also. Then at 4 am he started thumping very loud constantly and I was sleepy so I was confused, then I realized that it was my bunny. I give him treats and prepare him a forging toy. Idk what happened.

Bunnies thump their feet to signal to other bunnies that there might be a predator around. Your bunny probably got scared of some noise and thumped her feet to warn you of potential danger. They can also thump their feet if they're angry (like when you pick them up etc).
