Indeed, very surprised by Sunn's lack of communication. I ordered a beta lead (for Switzerland 🇨🇭) and was hoping them saying they'd ship end of Feb would be true. We'll see 😅

I'm not "pre-ordering" ANYTHING until I know someone who really received a new Sunn amp.

Whoever bought the rights is clueless. They marketed the wrong models to the wrong audiences at outrageous prices. Its like they intentionally failed.

The thing that bothers me most is they seem to have a pretty dismissive attitude to the core audience. In the few interviews I've seen they have said stuff like "oh well we can't be successful if we just sell amps to doom guys." That's the market for the amps! No one else cares about Sunn.

btw as of April 26th, 2024 they FINALLY released video of working amps. I expect them to ship in the next month or so.

I preordered a Beta Lead in early December. I got a response to when it was shipping saying on an IG comment saying end of Feb, that’s it. I did just email them for an update so we’ll see how that goes. I also talked to a guy in a Sunn owners FB group that works there and said he was told that they are ready and just waiting on the knobs, which are supposedly delayed. I’m still optimistic, but who knows. I’ll update this comment if I get anymore info.

It's past the end of February and Sunn has still not sent the Beta leads like they said they would. Sunn has now resorted to turning the comments off on their Facebook and Instagram pages.

I just ordered the preamp and a t-shirt two weeks ago. I haven't heard a thing from them but the t-shirt shipped immediately.

The 100S is a mean amp tho. I think it’s a forgotten gem of the Sunn Empire.

I saw on Instagram that they announced their next round of funding for investors. One of the responses to the post was, “We literally just want a Model T.” And I think that sums up Sunn in a nutshell. It would be like Gibson doing a relaunch without a Les Paul in their lineup. Sure, the SG, Explorer, V, and Firebird are all great guitars, but the Les Paul is the signature model. The owners claimed they’re trying to find a way to rerelease the Model T and still keep it affordable but I feel like that’s something they should have figured out before the relaunch.

There was an interview with two guys from Sunn Amps the other day (which was recorded last year...) and one of them said, along the lines of, "Had we started off with the Model T it would have been a bad business move." I thought, 'Okaaay... Funny you should say that because I did notice an overwhelming amount of people crying out and willing to pay over 3K for Sunn 100S' with PCBs.' Not... Oooouf... Im sticking with my Stoneham Amplification T.

I've been watching with extreme interest, and totally disappointed at the lack of substantial info/demos etc. They are really botching it. If you do the math on their preorders, they maybe sold 60 amps. I guess that's why they need the wefunder. I saw someone on their facebook page say something about the shipping date now slipping to late March. Man, they were JUST telling people the other day they were shipping this month. I refuse to place an order unless I see an independent review that does a teardown and analysis.

I could bang on for ages about this, but the short version of my thoughts is this: These bozos have bought the brand and the schematics but simply don't have resources and economies of scale to build a value-for-money product, and by the looks of things don't have the cash to build anything at all. $1000 bucks for a Beta Lead is completely absurd: you can buy an original one and have it professionally recapped for significantly less than that and end up with a far more desirable amp. You could also buy something like a Peavey Century or an HH IC100 and get to a similar place for way less even than that. If you're desperate for a new beta lead there are clones available for something like $600 to your door (still too much IMO, but you can buy one and play it days later). Nobody is going to preorder one of these. If they'd pitched it to compete with the Orange Super Crush 100 then they'd be inundated, but only big companies manufacturing in volume can produce a quality product for $400 (this is why 'boutique' pedal builders charge $200 for a basic fuzz based on a 60 year-old circuit when Behringer can do it for $40. Economies of scale). The one and only model they could justify charging over $1000 for is the Model T. Why on Earth they didn't plan to launch that first God alone knows. Nobody is going to pay $1000 shipped for a solid state amp that doesn't even exist yet.

April 13th, still waiting for my Beta Lead... Second hand originals are quite rare in Europe so I was stoked to get my hands on a brand new one. I'm starting to regret this... Last news from them said they'd ship by March 18th after some delay, but I'm still waiting. Zero communication on their part, you basically have to spam email them for some infos, they never care to come up front and give their customers some update. Anyone else in this situation ? I'm kinda considering asking for a refund

I am one of the people who pre ordered a beta bass. I sent them an email asking beforehand what the turnaround was on March 28th 2024. They told me that they were shipping then on a first come first serve basis. I pulled the trigger and got an estimated ship date of April 8th. It is now May 28th and I still do not have an amp. I have sent them multiple emails with no response. They also wont respond on social media. I am a patient person. I gave them weeks before I started trying to contact them. But after this long I am starting to think I may be screwed out of 799.00. Is there anyone out there that has ordered one and received it? I see their Twitter posts that show them being assembled and tested but that's about it.

Got an email today advertising selling shares in the company at $100 each. Essentially a Kickstarter. Promising work being put into Model Ts etc and the shares maybe increasing in value. The other thing that's funny is the pics of Hendrix using Sunns. He got them either as a rented backline or were gifted them. He used them for one small tour and never again because he hated them haha.

I sent them an email to see if they ship internationally before I dropped the $800 for a Beta. Absolute radio silence from Sunn. It's not looking well. The fact that they are not shipping internationally coupled with their plain stupid choice of the 100S & 200S as their tube amps rather than a model T tells me this company has no money, staff or any idea who their audience is. Not catering to the Doom crowd is akin to shooting yourself in the foot with your own gun.

I was ready to preorder a PL20 but wanted to know when it would ship so i sent them an email. Never heard back. Held off. I think that was the right decision.

Its weird for real, if they dont start producing some product soon they will for sure be doomed to fail,i still think the 200s as a flagship was completely retarded. If it where me beta,model T even if it was a 50 watt,and a new design would have been my launch and i would have had at least some ready to go as well as flooding with demos and such
