Yes, this pie was all the rage when I was young. I was just telling my great great niece about it this past weekend! I remember when my Mama and Daddy tried it at a friend's house, they had no idea that it was crackers! My little niece wants me to make one to see if her Papaw can tell the difference. That brings back memories. We were invited to an older couples home for supper when I was a child and she served it for desert. I would have never known it was made from crackers & not apple it was really good. . Tfs & hope you feel better I can relate seems like I'm allergic to everything. I went 4 years for 2 allergy shots per week. It helped but not sure I would do it again.

Back in the day there was the Frugal Gourmet on PBS and he made potato salad from saltine crackers. My best friend’s mother in law made it and was so good! I can’t wait to try this pie!! Have a blessed week sweet friend 💕

It was delicious. Papaw loved it. What little was left I put in refrigerator and it was still good the next day. No q crumb of this pie was not eaten . I think Momma Mel got a hug from papaw. He loves apple pie. So be sure and try it I am. Mamaw

I have had this pie and you are right! It is amazing!! I have not had one in quite a while. Will have to make it again soon! So very sorry you are feeling bad. My allergies mostly affect my eyes. They have been awful for the last 2 weeks. Burning, itching and so red that I just know everyone thinks I am stoned or drunk..lol. Hope what is left of this week is great for you. God bless! @@elainenicholls7648 hi! I make it by crushing up Ritz crackers, or you can put them in a food processor. Add melted butter & sugar to the crumbs and press into your pie pan. Bake at 350 for ten minutes to set the crust. I let it cool, then fill with whatever your pie filling is, and bake. I don’t have exact measurements because it’s pretty forgiving. I think it works well with any pie that doesn’t need a top crust( pumpkin, buttermilk, or a cold pie). Hope that helps!😊

They used to include this recipe on the side or back of the Ritz box. Imagine my surprise when i went to make it myself for the 1st time, and they were not including that recipe any more! Anyway, it does taste like apple pie - just awesome!

Yes my mom always made this when we were children and it was a staple when we lived on Baffin Island where fresh apples were scarce and if there were available very expensive. In fact I served it to a young police officer one night for dessert who raved about how good it was and how it was the first apple pie he had in ages..The difference with your recipe is crushing the crackers .. My recipe they are left whole. and put directly into the liquid and cooked until the cracker becomes transparent then poured into the unbaked crust and then into the oven.. The crackers actually look like sliced apple not applesauce....

My younger brother made this in his science class in high school. He brought some home and we could not even believe how good it was!! We actually made it again at home so there would be enough for everyone haha

Very interesting idea. I would love to do a compare of the ritz cracker pie versus apple pie and see if anyone could tell the difference. May have to try it this fall when we have a potluck to go to.

Hey Mel,my Mom made that kind of pie a lot,my older sister still makes it,even i have made them,we call it no apple,apple pie,i love it and i don't like apple pie!

I tried that pie when the recipe was on the Ritz box years ago. I couldn't believe it was a apple pie. It was delicious 😋 . I think they called it Mock Apple Pie 🥧

Good morning Mel. This pie looks very interesting. I noticed at the end you say apple ritz pie but didn't see any apples or apple flavoring in the pie. A bit confused. Asking since I love anything apple and apple flavored. Thinking of making this. Take care and have a good day!

Yes, it tastes just like an apple pie, but no apples in it at all, it's a mock apple pie. I was curious when I saw the recipe and had to try it for myself and it was spot on! 👍❤️

I'm 72 years old. My Dad was allergic to apples, so my Mom made this pie instead of a true apple pie. It is amazing how it mimics the real thing.

@@InTheKitchenWithMommaMel I saw pie recipe for a pinto bean pie. Next trip to town, getting all Ingredients. I love unusual dishes because if it's good you know won't be a duplicate on the table!!!! I had some baby carrots that needed to be used, so I boiled, mashed, added butter and spices and they look and taste like sweet potatoes. I put in freezer and going to make individual pies when daughter comes home this weekend. Not telling her what it is, want to see if she can tell!!! She likens me to a mad scientist wearing goggles when I get to experimenting in the kitchen!!!!

I have not had this pie I've read this recipe for years and wanted mom to make it when I was a teenager in high school and she wouldn't do it. She said my dad wouldn't like it. Don't know as far as I know he never had it. But now have you looked at the boxes the sleeves of Ritz crackers have gotten shorter so it may have been 36 crackers may have been almost two sleeves back then

Hey my sweet friend,I have been in the hospital for 7 days and just got home not long ago,i was diagnosed with cellulitis bad in my right leg and foot,they were swollen 3 times their size and bright red,,mrsa,wound infection,uti,and i was septic,i was given 2 different antibiotics 4 times a day,I have missed ya and have a lot of catching up,please still keep me in your prayers as i found a good size lump by my right breast. love y'all
