A short intro to lectio divina.
NOTE: Many lectio groups will read do first reading twice, so as better to fix it in participants' minds. This is optional, but can have very positive results.
An in-depth treatment by Fr. Luke Dysinger: www.valyermo.com/ld-art.html

Great video: succinct yet practically informative. I like the group lectio as an extension of personal lectio. Based on Trinitarian theology, I have wondered for many years (decades) if there should be a religious order that includes fraternal dialogue on divine topics as part of its rule. I have often found that my best insights come through talking with other faithful, prayerful Catholics. A form of Trinitarian Order would seem quite suited to Catholicism, with our emphasis on the Communion of Saints over a "mere" personal relationship with God.

That was a very creative and funny. It encourages us to try the "lectio divina". Thank you Ted. Thinking on taking advantages on what is happening now with the lock down (COVID 19), this is something we can start doing in our home.

Hello Ted. Hopefully you’ll see this comment. Briefly, what scripture translation would you recommend for the practice of lectio and why? The two I’m jostling between are the DR and the RSVCE. My main focus has been on the psalms. The DR is appealing because it is based on St Jeromes Gallican Psalter which is itself a translation of the LXX. I like this because it means that I am fundamentally using the same text or similar to the holy Fathers, both Greek and Latin. Even if it is not so accurate, nonetheless there is something nice about knowing that I’m reading from what, for example, St Thomas Aquinas was reading from too. Further, there is also the liturgical significance of the Vulgate as a who, as well as its use in medieval scholasticism to take into consideration. On the other hand, the RSVCE is more faithful to the original hebrew text and also more intelligible. Perhaps it could be said that a text like that is better for discerning the word of God. In general, I am more familiar with the DR and the Vulgate but i havent made a total commitment yet vis a vis a translation for lectio. I hope you see this question and find time to answer it. Thanks, and thanks for the videos.

I laughed inappropriately loudly when it was time for "Oz" to do the reading and he flipped his NIV over.
