So glad I found your video, Dr. Aria. Thank you! I've been studying this stuff for decades, going back to all of Dr. Sarno's books. It was Alan Gordon's PRT that has made me realize that painful muscle spasms attributed to "mild" cerebral palsy, could actually be neuroplastic. The lower body weakness I've experienced my entire life, from my earliest memories of needing to hold the stair rails going up or down stairs, not being able to play on any of the equipment in the playground, etc., perhaps IS due to cerebral palsy. But MAYBE the upper body muscle spams came from decades of dealing with mobility and coordination challenges and the resulting feelings of shame and abandonment??? I'm open to releasing the spasms and the pain. Hearing YOUR version of PRT was fabulous. I love the nuances that each therapist brings to the material, often presenting me with "ah-ha" insights. I'm so grateful!!!

Hi Norma, Welcome! Yes, isn’t Alan Gordon an amazing (and funny) clinician? So glad you enjoyed the video. I had the need to clearly explain the PRT. Please do take a look around and checkout my latest video on why self compassion is so difficult. Be kind to you. Welcome, again! 💕☀️

Thanks, Dr. Les! Yes, I'm checking out your other KZfaq videos. And loving them! You're keeping me busy! You refer to step 3 in Somatic Tracking as "Positive Associated Feelings." I like that description better than the label from Alan Gordon, "Positive Affect Induction." (No disrespect meant toward the brilliant Dr. Asher who Alan credits for that wording; perhaps just too clinical for a lay person like me.) Here’s my question. In the somatic tracking exercise on this video, your Step 3 is fairly short and simple. When I’ve been doing the exercise on my own, I spend a long time on Step 3. In addition to pleasant thoughts, I sometimes envision neural pathways actually being rewired, even imagining an old-fashioned telephone switchboard. Am I overdoing it? Thank you again! With great appreciation!

❤ Thank You ❤ Dr. Les! This information is very helpful and quite fascinating! I'm currently working with a Lin Coach and gettin better now. I'm so excited about it that I'm looking forward to taking the PRT coach training program after I get to the other side of this so I can help others get better too. I'm an RN with a PhD who is retiring very soon. This would be such a wonderful way to continue helping others. I'm already sharing links with those I know who could benefit from this 😊

I have lived with long term chronic pain due to lower back issues for over thirty years. This spinal tissue damage is still present. Big question. I have now watched a great many of these retraining the brain videos and similar treatments. The vast number of these videos talk about therapy and methods of adjusting the brain when the tissue damage is no longer present. My big question is this, Can these treatments help if the tissue damage causing this pain is still present ? A definitive answer to this question would be so very helpful. Chronic pain has dominated my life for over thirty years. Pain relieving drugs have come close to killing me on several occasions. Over the years I have tried so many third party treatments without success. Do I need to accept the pain and cope with life in the best I can or is there really a way for treatments like the one in this video helping. All advice and help would be very much appreciated.

Ricky, if you are referring to "spinal tissue injury," I'm guessing then you had a traumatic injury/spinal cord injury. PRT works best for "chronic primary pain (non-spinal cord injuries)." If you are in California and do not have a spinal cord injury, then connect with the Pain Psychology Center in Los Angeles or go to www.menda.health (if you are in California).

@@myndfulness Many thanks for your kind reply, I live in the UK. I experienced a heavy lifting accident in a factory at aged 18. For financial reasons I was forced to return to work a great deal earlier than recommended, a decision that I was to regret for a great many years. I am now 65 years old and retired. My lower back has four vertebrae with very narrow gaps and also some Cartlidge damage that has have never healed. I would like to know if any of the treatments in your video are likely to be of any benefit if there is still a source of my constant chronic pain. Once again, many thanks for your response, all the very best, Yours Ricky

Does PRT require pushing through and getting physically active again? Can this method be used while a person is bedridden or housebound?
@myndfulness
@myndfulness 2 жыл бұрын
PRT is not about pushing through that would activate your sympathetic nervous system and even probably a dorsal vagal system = more pain and shut down/flare up. Purity is an exposure and desensitization process. Yes, imagining the activities using imagery will activate the same brain parts. Then, watching videos of activities and then imagining yourself doing those activities will trigger the mirror neurons. It’s a safer way to go while you are bedridden. Please do check out website: Menda.health If you need additional support/skills.

Hi There. Thank you for stopping by. 1. Get your suicidal thoughts address by a trained mental health professional. If you’re struggling, call a crisis line or simply text this number 988 and hit enter in the message. 2. PRT works well but deporesion will be your barrier (as you have ahared). Yes, anxiety = pain. Depression amplifies body sensations. Get that deporesion addressed. 3. If you feel unsafe, call 911. Be patient & kind to yourself.
