Spencer is always hilarious but he was killing it in this one. Also, Hedwig dying in the movies meant nothing. Harry spends almost zero time with Hedwig in the movies and it happened so fast I didn't even notice it until a minute later. Sirius's and Dobby's deaths were much more shocking than Hedwig's.

I just didn't like Gina's phrasing because there are a lot of characters that connects Harry to his parents: Lupin, Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall... Any character that knew his parents can make that connection. But yeah, Lupin was definitely the strongest example of WRONG.

Deathly Hallows Part 1 is tragically underrated, it's the only one that takes its time with the plot and spends quality time with the characters we love. Plenty of stuff happens too, there's a chase on broomsticks/magical motorbikes with Voldermort, they infiltrate the ministry, destroy horcruxes and it splits up and reunites the trio! Awesome film, shame you can't see it.

Am I the only one who like the Goblet Of Fire the best???? It just seemed the most magical out of all the movies, the visuals, the the new character... I also think it was the most exciting of all the movies.

As much as I love Alan Rickman, Spencer made a totally valid point in Round 5. You're not supposed to love Snape, but I loved Snape from the movies whereas I kinda hated him in the books. And I although I was rooting for Richard Harris to win this round, I thought Maggie Smith did show more facets to her character, so good win there.

I think it was unfair because it went beyond the movies. Sure, someone who's read the books knows you're meant to dislike Snape, but this is movie fights. As far as movie watchers go, you're supposed to be on the fence regarding Snape, then believe he's entirely lost on Half Blood Prince, just to get to fully love him and think "oh so *that's* why he was like that" on Deathly Hallows Pt2, and that's exactly what his performance delivered.

Well, the problem with that pick is, for Horcruxes to exist, that means the dark magic to make them exists and to make one you must be a wizard. So technically you can't really have Horcruxes without a lot of other elements.

Chamber of Secrets is garbage "because there is no tie-in to the overall Voldemort story".. WHAT?!! It has more Voldemort tie-in than Azkaban! Harry actually meets Voldemort in 2!!! And while I'm addressing this, Chamber of Secrets is not the worst film, if anything the first one is worse. I would argue that the 5th movie is pretty average. Deathly Hallows part 1 is arguably better than part 2 in my opinion.
@apoorvasastry7073
@apoorvasastry7073 7 жыл бұрын
Maxificent I completely agree! Deathly hallows part 1 is very true to the book. I loved the cinematography in it as well. I was visually beautiful (especially the camp sites). The end of part 2 is terrible. It completely negates the gravitas of the scene as mentioned in the book. That fight was supposed to take place in the Great Hall!!!
@Maxificent
@Maxificent 7 жыл бұрын
Yea the way they changed the ending was disappointing. However, upon re-watching the film, it doesn't feel like as bad of an ending. I've realised that the "gravitas" that the book ending achieved was thanks to the story telling techniques that are inherent to the book format; as a result I don't know if a simple conversation between Voldemort and Harry would have translated as well on the screen. I don't know what I would dislike more, if they changed the ending (and it be less good than the book ending), or if they stuck to the book's ending (but it still be less good because maybe it kills the pacing, or the tone isn't right, etc..), and not doing the book ending justice in the latter case. I think the ending serves the movie fine. To be honest, the book will always be better. I think the reason we fixate more on the ending is because it was *so damn good* in the book, we expected (and hoped) it would be as amazing in the film (which it was always unlikely to be).
@apoorvasastry7073
@apoorvasastry7073 7 жыл бұрын
Maxificent that does make sense. The books are always much better. But I feel that Voldemort should've been defeated amidst everybody and not just disintegrating into little bits without anyone being there. Of course, like you mentioned, it would be very disappointing to see it done badly.
@Maxificent
@Maxificent 7 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I honestly think that a large part of the reason why the ending didn't necessarily feel as impactful as it should have was the lack of any iconic music. If you go back and watch that scene, the music really doesn't do it any favours, which is a shame because the music has always been a high point throughout the franchise.
@apoorvasastry7073

TEC Yeah, maybe in something like Sweeney Todd I can see that. But I can think of more films where she is far different from those roles. She's a very popular actress with more than a handful of awards. It's a fair opinion, I don't know what she's like in real life. When it comes to Harry Potter I think she steals the show in every scene she's in, more menacing than Voldemort I'd say.

True, but you could argue that it wouldn't be a terrible thing if it existed. I don't necessarily enjoy baseball or other sports, however it doesn't really impact my life (or society in general) and I simply don't watch it. The same can't be said for dementors or house elves.
@leonardocucchiara4782

Linda Lundin don't get me wrong. Dementors is easily the winning answer here. But both ladies kept arguing that Quidditch shouldn't count as "what I don't want to exist" because it does already. That is simply not fair and Andy should have not allowed that. Otherwise Spencer could have argued that Dementors doesn't count either because there are guys in black costumes in the Hollywood Studio Tours.

The Prisoner of Azkaban is the greatest because it's the most artistic. Movie is a visual language and that's what this movie succeeds. It's irrelevant which one started or ended the series. For instance, I love LORT as well and I think The Two Towers is the best from the trilogy, and PJ said it was the most challenging one, as it had to connect the two movies and sill be great and I think he nailed that. Prisoner of Azkaban has the best shots, it's dark and yet the funniest, remember the scene at the inn, with the housekeeper? Or when Ron gets confused after Hermione and Harry return from the past? It introduced Lupin, nobody fucking mentioned Remus Lupin. New Dumbledore, he changed almost perfect one and made Dumbledore more energetic and powerful. Th Dementors are great too. I mean David Thewlis, Gary Oldman and Alan Rickman in the same scene, c'mon... Also, Timothy Spall's character is so spot on, damn, he;s such a great actor. P.S.: Alfonso Cuaron is the one director to rule them all ! Sorry... wrong movie :X

OH MY GOD FINALLY A GREAT MOVIE FIGHTS EPISODE! It's been so long aside from when the last time Max Landis was on :D I think there DEFINITELY needs to be more episodes like this, where you focus on a single franchise and explore questions WITHIN that franchise, debating characters and story points and performances within a franchise, it keeps things focused and much more entertaining! As opposed to the usual movie fights which are way too wide open and thus the "best argument" never truly comes out because the arguments are never given enough time to flourish and be fully explored, nor are they coherent for the most part, unlike in here where they were. DO MORE FRANCHISE BASED FIGHTS PLEASE!

@paulaoliveira2280

It really is the worst one. Cinematography alone doesn't make a good movie. The plot is awful and the worst adaptation by far out of all of them. It took out basically all of Voldemort's backstory, which is the mais point of the book, to give space to some romantic comedy that's not romantic or funny. Most of the jokes are too forced, and Harry and Ginny's relationship is so cringe worthy and embarrasing, you just have to look away. And no need to even talk about the Burrow attack, wtf was that?! And even in terms of photography, it works beautifully in scenes like Voldemort's flashback or Dumbledore's death, but to keep that sepia tone in ALL of the scenes, like the ones where they're just enjoying things in hogwarts just takes some of the magic away from it in my opinion. Saving graces of the movie are Dumbledore and Draco.
