Gotta mention those 2024 Wilson Staff model CB's.. incredible price for how nice they are. One of the best bargains out there if you don't mind a 34 degree lofted 7 iron (and you can always just bend them stronger by a degree or two).

They were right on the cusp for us, there's just so many good irons in this category. Agreed a lot of golfers might like them at a slightly stronger loft, even though this category should never really be about distance.

You guys consistently have informative and accurate reviews. I'm playing a set of 770's, backup set of Zx7 Mk II's, and considering adding a set of 243's to the quiver cuz they feel so darn good. I agree 100 per cent. For what its worth though I think I would have gone with PXG 0317T over the CB, they are great clubs.

Great points, Jim. The 0317T and 243 just seem to be punching up across reviewers; they look special. Not that it's your market, but the 245 has seemed to underperform across the KZfaqverse, even against the old 225 it replaced. the T150 is flying longer than the T200. Do you think certain companies like Mizuno/Titleist, whose bread and butter is better, players Irons, are just better at engineering such Irons, and lack the chops for the Players Distance hollow body designs at this point?

there's an unexplained mental edge that irons give you when they do what you'd expect them to do (on a good shot and a missed shot). confidence is key

Not changing my i210s for a while, but there are a lot of irons in this test that are very tempting. Truth is there is no bad iron in the test, I was going to say that every iron in the test is pretty but then I noticed the More Mod 1 - I can admire the ideas behind it but that is one ugly iron. For me it would be a choice between Blueprint S, PXG CB, Wilson CB

Hi. I see you had takomo 201 in there. Compared to the mizuno at around 3x the price - how does it actually compare? Buying takomo i Get a full new set more or less vs just new mizuno irons for similar price. Curious…

Hi, the Takomo irons are decent, especially so the 301 CB. The 201 is more angular but still a good looking iron at address. Only issue is you need to order online without a fitting which for many golfers, especially so in this category is a big ask. So long as you know what you need and what you're buying they are a decent option. Hope that helps.

According to your raw data a few weeks later, the T150 is going noticeably longer than the hollow body T200/ Is the T150 just punching that far above its weight in your opinion? or is it just something u were much more confident standing over? I ask because I'm trying to decide between the 2, and your opinion matters more than one discrepency

What irons is Neil using this year; he intimidated on using hollow body but which ones?

He's still testing but split between the Callaway Apex 24 CB and Apex 24 Pro. Hope that helps.

I have the Mizuno 225 and love them except for the occasional fairway flyer. I also have played the 2022 P770 and experienced the same thing. Did you find that was the case with the new 770s as well as the 245s?

We haven't seen 'fliers' while testing indoors, but Neil has experienced some while playing hollow body irons on the golf course.

Good summary gents. I may have missed it but did you provide or can you provide the average swing speed for your testing? Looking at my 7 iron I have slowed down over the years (low 80s). I am assuming your swinging closer to low 90's with your 7. The real question, will these irons preform similarly at a slower speed such as low 80s?

Thanks for the feedback appreciate you taking the time. As a rule of thumb ball speed is 1.5 faster than club speed, so in this case the 7-iron club speed would be about 81 mph. Hope that helps.

Curious that the Titleist T150 performed well on shot area, ball speed drop off and descent angle, yet didn't make the final list. Wondering why? I'm a senior golfer, 5.4 index, looking for a combo set.

It was right in the conversation to be in the final list Maurice, along with the Apex Pro, Cobra King Tour and Wilson Staff Model CB, but it's hard to say nine different irons are all top performers within a single category in one year. Ultimately there isn't a bad iron in the players' iron arena, and as you highlight it's possible to make a case the T150 should be included. Our thinking comes down to the the idea of going after distance in the players' iron category raising the question of whether you're buying within the right category or not. It's confusing for golfers even though our test highlights the difference between the T100 and T150. 100% we believe more club golfers will buy the extra speed and distance of the T150 over the T100. But it's tough pushing that message within this particular category. Hope that explains?

Can you explain why the blueprint s didn't score top in any category but is top pick?

This is a category that is incredibly evenly matched so decisions come down to tiny details and very often personal/brand preferences. Decisions made in this category are likely to entail data supporting a choice, not because one models data is significantly better than another. We've hit a ton of Ping irons over the years and the Blueprint S is probably the most desirable we've seen for some time, possibly ever. It's fitting opportunities (with Power and Retro lofts) and overall desirability are second to none, if the model isn't recognised as one of the best irons of the year we simply wouldn't be doing our job. There's not too much in it, but if forgiveness was a primary concern we'd be looking at the Blueprint S or P770. Hope that helps.

No brand will pay you to create a video like this comparing multiple irons. Bauer Media who own Today's Golfer however would work with pretty much all the brands involved at some level over the course of a season. Hope that helps?
