So I had a conversation with an INTJ, and on the topic of ‘being with yourself’, she didn’t seem to get it. So I put up the following chunk, which admittedly blends multiple attitudes, but I think sounds similar to what this lecture discusses: “In every person, there exists a copy of yourself psychologically. When you are quiet, it will whisper things into your ears. When you are alone, it will talk about how you are unloved. When you are happy, it will say you never deserved this. Most people reject this part of themselves. They will say “You are not me!” and continue to throw everything they do not want to associate with this other self. They will ascribe all the qualities they despise to this self, and they will loathe and shun it, trying to be everything it is not. And then this other self grows from the negativity, and grows, and grows, until one day, it overpowers the person psychologically, and that is where we observe the breakdown of a person. Maybe they get some major illness. Maybe they become suicidal. Maybe they just don’t seem like themselves anymore. But in the end, if you try to throw out this other self, it will come back stronger and angrier. But if you take the time to sit and listen to it, you will begin to see that it is the wounded part of yourself, the part which was put down or damaged by its past, and it echos that which other people have been telling it, whether through your parents’ voices, your teachers’ voices, peers, loved ones. And it will be disturbing, because this is the ugliest side of yourself, the one you don’t want to face. But if you dare to listen to it, if you dare to try to comfort it as a parent to a hurt child, eventually, it will start to be better. It will start to sound more positive. It will become something you might very well want to be around. This is what it means to be with yourself, that you see your deepest darkest fears, and wants, and desires, and actions, and that you accept them, and acknowledge that yes, you are flawed, you are broken in some ways, and that’s alright. If you can help it heal, and help it grow, you will find you will be at peace with yourself, because that other self? It’s also you.”

And it happens though what Chase said. Logical interpretation of constant Fe insecurity due to mistreatment and others rejecting the Si child from ever being comfortable and safe and feel like the INTP is doing its Ti/Fe duty to help others by giving them the truth. Si remembers, Ti makes sense of it and Fe feels useless. Ne realises everyone has the same idea of the INTP so there's no hope for change. Every single person doesn't like me and this will continue no matter what I do (Ne) because my past is full of examples despite me trying hard (Si). This makes me feel useless and without value (Fe). Therefore I must be a bad person and not loveable or worthwhile (Ti). The only option is to either accept that and live as a shell, deny it and go insane slowly, or replace Ti with demon Fi to reject Fe and Ti. This changes the paradigm Every single person doesn't like me and I don't care because they don't matter to my goals and desires (Ni) because I can do whatever I want right now (Se). This makes me feel like I can achieve anything because I know exactly what to do now and no obstacle can stop me (Te). Therefore other people are bad for making me feel useless and constantly treating me like I'm nothing (Fi)

What I love about psychology is how much complex the brain is, it took me some years to figure out where my insecurity came from, and turns out it was just my brain tricking me. That's why I'm so focused on communications as I understand how simple sentence can trigger someone (and also me) without intentions, and as I've been studying typology with your channel (now it'll be almost a year yay!), everything makes much sense now! It was hard and at the same time fascinating to realize we're much of the time kind of sabotaging ourselves. But at the same time, just like you said, we have to earn that wisdom, experience difficulty in life to develop ourselves! Thank you so much for sharing so much knowledge with us! :D

Fi demon isn't sad in itself. It's sad when someone has no one they care about. We hate to give attention to our feelings when it comes to making decision because they are very strong, unstable and repressed. But if someone is menacing our tribe (Fe), we will become savages. Fi demon can break any presupposed moral framework, it's also why we are a crazy open to new ideas. I'm talking murder, incest, cannibalism.. Whatever serves you.
@annhinz6326
@annhinz6326 5 жыл бұрын
Say it ain't so! Cannibalism? I know I go along to get along--and that is a sure sign of no moral compass, but I've always hoped that I would stop short of incest, cannibalism, murder and the like.
@jonathanreave8558
@jonathanreave8558 5 жыл бұрын
@@annhinz6326 I hope that you do if you so wish, even though it wouldn't affect us very much if you are an INTP you will see it as justified. Murder is the easy one to accept as it literally encompasses self-defense. For cannibalism the fact that it was practiced in ancient societies means we have it in us. If I recall incest as close to brother-sister was practiced successfully by Egyptians when the genes were purged free of mutations. Maybe you'll be surprise where our creativity can stretch to when our 4th slot Fe gets impeded. Having no one to care for is the saddest of all the topics I mentioned.

@annhinz6326 5 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanreave8558 I have been fortunate in my life that when my life fell apart in my younger more immature years I did have an infant son to take care of. I'm sure the responsibility of caring for him and a supportive family kept my demon at bay. Although I identify as an intp, my reaction became more of the debauchery type of behavior. Now I feed it by playing spider solitaire and quilting. But I can quit any time! Honest!
@annhinz6326
@annhinz6326 5 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanreave8558 I certainly agree that not caring about anyone is indeed the saddest of all. Seems to me that one would come that conclusion by concluding that no one cares for oneself which is very sad indeed. Therefore, although it's a pain in the ass much of the time, smiling at people and asking how they are doing, telling them you care, giving a positive word is so worth the time and energy fellow intps. I believe that's part of Chase's reason for doing all this. When you go out of your way to show you care, people generally care back. Maybe not who you want, but someone will.

Here's a story for you. As an INFP I was working as a computer programmer (leaning heavily on my inferior Te function). The guy who was in charge of the technical environment was a very obnoxious ESTJ who had to tell everyone exactly what to do and, of course, never listened or acknowledged that anyone else had a brain. He was constantly insulting toward me. That guy drove me straight to my demon function and I actually conjured my demon in the form of a 6'4" ISTP (INFP superego) consultant who came in and logically tore the ESTJ up and spit him out. The ESTJ was terrified. I confess I loved it. I wanted him to die a slow death really. But the lesson I gradually took from it is that I never belonged in computer programming in the first place. Working through my inferior made me way too ego involved...even though I had a talent for it. I needed to find a way to engage my Fi professionally and finally did. Ah, so much more happiness. So, in a way the ESTJ was an angel rescuing me from a misaligned profession.

Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment" is the best example of what an INTP becoming demonic looks like. Raskolnikov, the protagonist, literally isolates himself too much from humanity and invents his own morals (finds no problem with killing a person because he can logically justify why the person he ends up killing is not just useless but even counter-productive to society). Basically, instead of relying on Fe feedback, he gives himself feedback and elects himself as the most superior human being and the biggest genius, allowing himself to transgress any law. Peterson mentioned something about this too when he said that even the highest person in the hierarchy must obey the ultimate ideal (which cannot be located inside the hierarchy), and if the most superior person in the hierarchy ever kills the ultimate ideal and transgresses the ultimate law, the whole system collapses.

INTP here. At first I thought that reaching the demon function would be the crazy lash out moments. One way that I've interpreted it is that it's more of a "sin" function, making other functions behave negatively. The demon would be the unconscious, the side of our mind we go to when all hope is lost. Or at least that way it was kinda easier for me to understand, I know that's not the terminology but it kinda helped me.

I've been watching CS for awhile now, and learning a ton! Very helpful subject to learn as a whole. I'm very grateful to stumble upon this channel. This video has been the best so far. Showing the importance of knowing and treating someones inferior self with respect to build them and yourself to better ones life, and life as a whole is exactly the responsibility we each need to seek out and practice everyday with everyone at everytime.

Just finished watching the end of this. It actually made me cry, I really admire what you are trying to do. And I have listened - I'm going to use what I've learned. Work hard on developing my ENTJ subconcious to begin with, delay gratification, and accept any suffering that comes with it. It might not be the easy path but it is the meaningful one and the route to true fulfilment. I know I might not always succeed every single time (we are all flawed human beings) but at least every day I can make an effort. And hopefully I can help others with their inferior functions (amd trickster) along the way. Realised this channel isn't just about personality theory it is about trying to change the world for the better using that as a tool. Grateful

ENTJ here - I was using my ESFJ SuperEgo in a good way for 2 weeks (literaly Ego and SuperEgo were working together) I had so much energy I could work for 16 hours a day and sleep only for 4,5 hours. I made myself to do routine things and was like this for 2 weeks - getting so much shit done I had spare time for so many other things it was insane - but than the coronavirus came, and the lockdown with it too. With that came ESFJ's Fe hero - I was asking other people how they feel about this situation and than I devalued my own feelings (Fi nemessis) and forgot about my Ni (literry forgot, that all the duty and routine I made for myself was for the university studies, and work and generaly improving my life - i forgot about that because this duty and routine literally became my purpuse. It was good for me for these 2 weeks I was able to use that, but with the coronavirus lockdowns? This configuration of my mind wasn't adaptable for changes. And if that is how every ESFJ and ESTJ feel in those sitations I do not envy them. Like you said. It is really hard to use Demon in a good way and If you do, don't let it take control over you, don't forget about yourself.

Thank you, CS Joseph. A big WOW for me. I just learned the deeper analysis of the functions today, no longer stay on the surface and use the E vs I, N vs S, T vs F, and J vs P. I learned the functions of mine and their importance, pros and cons. This is a huge life advice. No longer a psychological test level, but it is a complete life inspiration. I just cannot pretend I didn't listen to your wise words. Super reflective. Personality type is actually teaching me how to live a meaningful life. This is such a hidden gem.

@C.S. Joseph. I'm absolutely loving this season. Day by day in every way I'm getting better and better and better at this and the journey is as fun as reaching the enlightenment destination. This is by far your best work so far and I can't wait to actually get to the temperaments so I can confirm my type. Initially I thought I was an ENTJ then an INTJ but my girlfriend without a doubt is an INTP. These are helping so much to understand her and grow our relationship. So happy to have found you my friend and looking forward to seeing this channel grow but you are definitely part of my daily routine and will be forever. I have no doubt you'll be able to change the world with what you're doing. You've created an incredible community that is growing every day. I think there are two responses with the Fi Demon. One being the person in the basement with video games lol, because they decided ‘since I’m never getting recognized or appreciated for all my work then there’s no point in doing anything at all’ which is self-destructive of course. Although, I’ve realized with my ESFJ mother who constantly attacked my Inferior “You don’t care about anyone; you don’t feel anything” and disregards all the care I already give to my siblings when she’s not home, that activates the Demon. The Hero tries to protect the Inferior with the logic and “I do X, Y, and Z so she’s wrong. I obviously care about people.” Not sure how my parent tries to defend or protect, but my Child can’t do much because she also attacks it by saying I’m disloyal and such. So the Inferior goes to the Demon for help. Similar reaction with another INTP I know, it’s where the Demon forces out of its cage because it’s been contained so long with how the INTP has been ignoring their emotions and trying to push the issue away. It’s like “Well, I’m gonna feel now, and you’re gonna feel my wrath!” It tends to want to break out of the cage the most when you threaten the source of where they input their care. For example, a sibling in my case. It’s this uncontrollable output of emotion full of hatred and rage towards the person, essentially for them being a bad person. I saw another comment with this concept and it fits more with the other Demons and how they portray in the other types. This is just what makes sense in my head. I’m very open to feedback.

Isfp here. I have similar experiences. But not that way exactly. When I tried to use my fe nemesis I was shut down by my esfj mother and she attacked me Te inferior telling me that I care only about myself and that I'm selfish. That upset me so I didn't care anymore about trying to be more selfless and I started being more distant with her and cold but I still had in my mind that I had to be more selfless. But the thing is that Everytime I tried to be selfless, real and honest, she always accused me of being selsifh, and a liar. Yeah after that I never ever cared about lying or being a brat that much. Thank god she is better now but that still haunts me to be honest.

I cried watching the ENTP part My dad's a ENTP and it's very accurate. I can't relate to Fi demon still. Reason I watched this video was because my inferior function is somehow only surface level when dealing with people, and, someone noticed my Fi monologue, so she concluded i must be an ISFP. I went to check ISFPs quality, nothing matched. But at the time she noticed that Fi monologue, i was in a deep distress. I am not sure, but when I am super stressed, I tend to find something that can distract my mind completely from the problem, if after expressing it doesn't yield any effective results. I may or may not express whatever is bothering my mind. Depends on who I'm dealing with. Last year, I resorted to collecting fonts and other graphics. I was so obsessed about it. It was after ending a 7 year relationship. And i found digital art soothed my mind that I was addicted to it for months until someone new came. Can't say if what I did was destructive or something, but it did affect my work and productivity. Or, there was a time when I was bullied, on the top of my stress, I resorted to hurt the bullies's loved ones. I'm typed as a INTP. But I'm not sure anymore if I am a INTP. Tbh.

I do feel the Se demon. When someone is really unfriendly or plain mean to me I dream about attacking them.. It's ugly and I hate myself for it. I haven't physically attacked anyone since elementary school. Maybe hurt or kept them from fighting but never injured anyone with intention. I do try to entertain people with jokes, like I don't care if they are really funny but if they respond well to my humor I like them. If I like you I'll laugh at your joke just to make you feel good. But I think that's more te -fi caring about people's opinion.

The thing u mentioned about the super ego tryin to replace the real ego is interesting. Many movies, art, novels make use of similar themes. Eg. The reflection tryin to become the person by pulling the person in to the mirror world and the shadow reflection entity behind the mirror takes charge of the real world by coming out of the mirror stepping into physical reality, Dr jekyll Hyde, the monster within etc. etc. Wow its sooo amazing the connections, the archetypes, the collective consciousness its just amazing this web

INTP female here - You had me weeping like a child through this video. I understand. I understand what I must -what I should- do. Thank you for caring, for your time and energy, for your sharing. It is a gift to the world, truly. I started watching you years ago when you started this channel, but at some point I became distracted and stopped, while keeping what I had learned in the back of my mind and continued to vet it through my internal framework by observing and analyzing myself and others. I have been able to apply most of what I have learned from you to correctly understand myself, and others, and take appropriate actions. Some compound traumatic events over the last 1.5 years have had my internal state of mind in upheaval and long story short, a month ago, I came back to you, and I began to re-watch what I had already. It’s as though I suddenly stopped falling and met the ground standing up. Somehow I had missed this season. This was everything I needed. Someday I hope I can come back and explain to you exactly what happened. Thank you.

(ENFJ) Since I got into this matter, specifically into your lectures, I can remember myself getting there once. Violently shutting up someone who I felt was ignoring my thoughts. Luckily, I realized where I was going and shut up myself before causing harm. I can also recall myself in the past frequently being in enviroments where I was, or at least felt (speaking retroactively analyzing), sorrounded by STPs, whom I mostly engaged with from the INFP shadow, not so rarely on the brink to snapping into ESTJ superego. But I think I never went that far, I always had enough self control. And it probably led to none of them going NFP superego in return, which I should be glad about.

Yesterday i went into my demon function slightly (Ti demon since i'm ISFP). Basically the guy i work for (ENTJ) accused me of playing with a garage door when i had only let it down a bit to reduce the amount of cold air blowing inside the shop. I started defending myself and when i started getting angry i ended up saying "I told you..." Let's just say that's something an ENTJ doesn't like to hear because typically they are the ones telling people things. The reason i said "i told you..." was because after repeating a few times what i know to be the truth he did not listen to me and i took being accused of something i did not do personally and had to try very hard to maintain self awareness and keep myself from falling into not caring what he thought. Bad things happen when i get in that thinking as i know all to well from my high school years.
