"I am not Taylor Swift".. that's exactly what Taylor would say, ooor Elly Conway.

I saw the movie, knowing very little about it ahead of time (comments I'd seen online said that this was the best way to see the movie). I enjoyed it for what it was. Before seeing this video, I had no idea that the book actually existed-for which I now consider myself fortunate.

I heard Conway was a pen name for JK Rowling 🤷‍♂ And that's how the movie got attached so fast, but because of the controversy around her, they used Elle Conway

I remember watching this movie just wondering if anyone was ever going to let the cat out that bookbag. They at times left the cat in the cat carrier for hours.

As soon as I heard that the movie was coming out at pretty much the same time as the book… I just assumed the movie came first and the book was either a tie-in or just a novelization of the movie. It made no sense otherwise

So they're going to make another movie based around this that will lose millions of dollars? Are they trying to compete with Disney for how much money they can lose??

So it's 'Romancing the Stone' meets 'The Long Kiss Goodnight,' only nowhere near as good as either? Got it. Also, I've been waiting a decade for Terry Hayes to publish another book and this is what we finally get? Sweet Fancy Moses....

Do not besmirch Romancing the Stone - however, the Alamo did play clips of that during the preshow 🥲

I'm not besmirching it. Hell, it's still the only good 'Raiders' riff. Weird that after all this time we got two movies, ahem, inspired by it within two years, though.

Wait. So Elly Conway doesn’t exist so therefore Taylor Swift did write the book because what other possibility is there?! There’s no other possibility that some random *person* could’ve written it obviously

I’ve heard the movie was created first and they decided to do a book tie-in, similar to how they made a book for Penelope after the movie. So the movie is the original and the book is the adaptation. Which is always a bad idea, but I think they thought it would be a good opportunity for $$$

Curious to know whether you saw, and maybe what you think about The Lost City (of D) on Netflix. With Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe. I just stumbled onto it a few days ago after hearing about Argyle, never heard about it before. It's an interesting juxtaposition to the heavily promoted Argyle at least. It's about a romance author/archeologist who's forced to go on a real adventure. Personally I wouldn't call it great, but it's certainly good enough. Not offensive in any way. Some slightly juvenile humor, some surprisingly good humor, some fun action, and a great overall theme/message (especially in today's cinema climate) about love and a woman's devotion and grief.

I remember that movie being heavily promoted, and I did see it and didn’t really care for it but I can see why people like it
@AyanneCZ
@AyanneCZ 4 ай бұрын
@@LienesLibrary Well that's kind of sad, hearing it was being promoted because I never heard a word of it in my neck of the woods. Again, I'm not saying it's a great movie at all, but I can appreciate a clean plotline, believable character arcs and a strong theme, when I look at movies normally being released and celebrated today. And it's depressing seeing Sandra Bullock looking better at 60 than I ever did in my twenties! So unfair! :D

I went to the movie opening night. The third act was not good and felt like a bait-and-switch with Cavill in a great deal of promotion compared to actual screen time. Just not a fan of Byrce as an actress either. Rockwell was the best part. Sadly, Jackson must not read scripts before taking roles anymore.
