My adult son is poly. I admit that as a traditionalist this was a shock and hard to take at first. But ultimately he is an adult and this is his decision. He does not tell me how to live my life (married and monogamous) and I don't tell him how to live his life. As his parent, my job now is to support him and his decisions and this is what I do. @@sunnyoverthemountain5029 To me it is nice because the only examples you see in the media tend to be pretty over the top, extreme (e.g. reality show stuff, for shock value). My kids have 40 direct ancestors who were polyamorous under Mormon Polygamy, more than 100 years ago. It's not new. This is so much better because there isn't religious coercion, and no alpha partner, everyone has an equal say and the freedom to leave. So I understand why people do it. My ancestors who did it are very respected by their descendants. They did some incredible things. But the overarching patriarchy of religious polygamy made a lot of people miserable. For consenting adults, more power to them!

This could be a great option for me to get into, but how does this work, does all three people in the relationship involved with each other romantically? Or can it be like for example one person being romantically involved with the other two and the other two are not involved romantically. I’m a female who is only attracted to men so for me, the best way to do this is to be with two bisexual men, I just couldn’t be with a woman romantically.

Fear the party of dead Your relationship with each of your other individual partners is different and has different boundaries. Your new partner doesn't have to have to have a relationship with your primary. But in my experience at least knowing and being friendly with the primary partner is the best. Who knows they really could become friends. Each relationship is different so you really have to talk about what everyone wants and what expectations you all have for eachother. Good luck!

It always backfires though because one person always ends up getting less attention than the other then the jealousy and resentment kicks in and ruins everything (from observation rather than experience. I know a few polys). perhaps a 3 way arrangement is good for a long weekend but as an ongoing lifestyle maybe not so much. These kinds of people always seem keen to prove to everyone that they are having more fun and are happier than they really are, like adult performers (I know a few of them too). Make sure you have plenty of sandbags to hide behind if you ever get caught up in one of their tiffs and fall outs. You are gonna need them.
