What neglected succulents look like

I feel there's a bit of a disconnect with what plants, especially succulents, should look like. Although, my channel is all about trying to grow beautiful succulents, it is often not what they'd normally look like in the wild.
Modern gardening practices give us access to wonderful things that can unlock full potential of many plants. We have tailor-made potting media, fertilizers, soil conditioners etc. which can help us grow the perfect plant.
So when we see plants that are not perfect and, perhaps, closer to what they'd normally look like, it may seem they are neglected.
In todays video i'll be replying to a comment that thinks some of my plants are sad and that it is also so very sad i don't give them away.
I'll also compare photos of succulents in their natural habitat to my 'sad' plants.

Please don’t let one sad comment discourage you. Your plants are beautiful and the knowledge you share is very much appreciated. I like that you are being transparent when showing us your plants because most of us have plants that could use some tlc.

Thank you so much for your kind comment- greatly appreciate it 💚💚💚 I guess strange comments are a part of creating public videos but, at least, they do offer a way to expand the conversation and can be turned into a lesson 🙂

Firstly love your videos, thankyou 😊. I did not get from your last video the same sentiment as the comment that was sent to you.. if you have a large collection eventually you’ll get those plants that get pushed to the back, need repotting, get mealy.. the great thing about succulents is they are generally fixable quite easily..but of course not always..I thought the comment left was a bit silly or naive really..but above all not necessary 🤷‍♀️

Thank you- much appreciate your support and taking the time to comment💚 It is so amazing how succulents will just keep on going and even create these artistic shapes when left in one pot. I guess the odd negative comment just comes with publicly posting on social media.. 😅

I also love your videos! I have to say that seeing your table of shame was my favorite! I grow succulents as a hobby and most of my collection is stunning- but I also have a table of shame- as I think most plant people do. I love to see my favorite plant youtubers show off not only their beautiful plants, but also their struggles. Sometimes I feel guilty when I walk past my table of shame, and I think to myself- I'll really get to those this week! But hey, then life gets busy and another week goes by and those plants still didn't get repotted. . . but that's the beauty of succulents- they are such survivors that they teach me about resiliency every day. I've probably learned the most from my table of shame- Just when I think I've killed a plant (or neglected past the point of no return)- they go and do something amazing like send out an offshoot or grow some new roots or send out a bloom. Thank you for your videos- keep them coming!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh, thank you so much- i really appreciate your comment 💚 I totally agree and think most people growing plants would have a version of table of shame. It's definitely amazing how succulents just soldier on no matter what!❤

love your videos, i certainly didn't feel the same way as the commentor you discuss in this video. Not everyone has time to focus on absolutely every plant. Honestly i wish my resident possum would get an winter appetite for my slightly neglected plants, as he seems to have a particular love of eating my favourite frillies, such as my neon breaker he recently destroyed. He definitely seems to favour my VIP plants lol.

Thank you so much- your comment is greatly appreciated 💚 Ahaha, possums are just so cheeky and have an amazing ability to pick the prettiest succulents for dinner 😅😂 I can't even get mad at them though- they are just so cute🥰

I appreciate wat u seek to achieve, by showing your plants wen not for 'perfect viewing' as against those which r your pride and joy, and your concern not to discourage your viewers frm growing d succulents. U r spot on in your concerns. I've taken heart after watching your not so perfect succulents, which led me to strive to do better. Tks so much for your efforts. 😊

Seems like I need to hurry with uploading my plants, because they look a lot worse on average (no greenhouse)
@SucculentGrowingTips
@SucculentGrowingTips 2 ай бұрын
Nooo, they are not worse, just grown in very different conditions. It's honestly great to see succulents growing in climates like yours. Imo, it's a great achievement to keep them going with such a short growing season, harsh winter and no greenhouse! I'm super privileged and lucky with the amazing climate here and, to be frank, it does most of the work for me...

The neglected Succulents in Kat's garden or the ones that are not looking great look like my best looking ones in my garden that's how good I am at looking after them. 😂 Her worst succulent care , if so however,(don't think) s ,is like my best care that I could ever give ... Nonetheless I'm shamless to even mention it.😅
