So is a 10 year military background sufficient enough without a college degree to become a probation officer? Or is it state by state case ?

There really is some good p.o's out there. I've been on probation for almost 3 years and my p.o is an awesome person. She is to the point and down to business. But she knows personal details about me and never fails to ask how my babies are doing and so on. Regardless of being a client or officer everyone's human. My advice from experience do what you are asked and be straight up so they dont have to ask about the bs. Probation is a cake walk if you do what needs be done. Keep up the amazing work ma'am. Much respect for you, Having to deal with the knuckleheads daily. Stay blessed..

Wow girl. There is content for everyone, that's forsure! I looked up videos like this before over the last few years and they just aren't personal like you have made your channel (for probation). So just wanted to say I am glad you are speaking about your profession! A few years ago I did an internship for adult probation and loved it, but didnt have my bachelor's at the time. Once I did get it, for some reason still felt kinda hesitant (like self doubt because I look young lol, and the caseload). You have motivated me to apply again, thank you. Hmm, one question I do have is do you ever feel like you go home and still feel emotionally involved with things you may have heard that day? Say a client's current situation or past that maybe was hard to hear/read about? Also would love to hear more about court, like how did you end up feeling so comfortable with it overtime, etc.

Interesting to see the differences and similarities in how our offices operate. Love the points you make especially about how the defendant violates, it's not the PO who violates them. I love court and have only had to go to hearing a hand full of times and am no longer intimidated. We also have to go to hearing for other PO's and that is difficult unless you have good documentation and the Judge gives you a minute to find the answer. I do wish we carried some type of protection in the field, not necessarily guns, but I have found rapport and respecting the individual really helps make a difference in a smooth interaction in the field. Of course if we don't feel safe we leave. I have found that most of the people on probation are given the opportunity to do probation because they made a dumb decision, hopefully can learn from it and don't belong in jail. -Thanks for your videos, have fun and stay safe.

I am on probation right now for my first time. i called the office 1 time right before my second visit. My probation officer: Had a major attitude. He was short with me. I was asking i would say dumb basic questions. Which i only asked 1 till he cut me short and told me it will be handled when i come in for my visit. I am super nervous and just wanted to make sure i was properly handling everything correctly. That had me sooooo Worried. Why? Because i am panicking hoping I'm bringing the correct paperwork. Which i am thinking if i don't have what I needed i would Violate... I was so nervous and afraid to ask any other question. Cause I didn't want to anger, annoy, or upset the officer. Who holds my FREEDOM within the palm of his hand. I feel afraid, and simply alone. Especially cause i was lost on what to put on the cashier check to give them for payments... God please watch over me on this one Amen.

Hi, I'm writing a script about a kid who was recently released from juvi and on probation. I just need to ensure a couple things for authenticity. Can you tell me how a new case is given to a PO? Like what's the process? Does a file just appear on your desk or is law enforcement involved?
@YourFavoritePO
@YourFavoritePO 4 жыл бұрын
We receive the case from the court once the defendant has been ordered probation. We get an email that a case is coming our way, and the file gets to our office within 2 business days. We then call the person to schedule an appointment!
@BeWILderedMedia

O.j thank you for the quick response! Just a couple more questions if that's okay. I appreciate this very much thank you....in your initial meeting, what would you say/go over? I hear you guys are very casual but would you have to go over the ground rules and stipulations of their probation? How would that be worded? Also are they allowed to transport themselves back and forth to school and/or community service (if that was part of their sentence)? Like on a bike or something?
@YourFavoritePO
@YourFavoritePO 4 жыл бұрын
Initially we go over the conditions of probation. We read the court order verbatim to make sure they understand. they are responsible for getting themselves to and from school, as well as community service. For juveniles parents must ensure the defendant has transportation.
