Hi my friends! Happy Monday, hope you are having a wonderful day so far. Today I wanted to talk about a highly requested story, the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. I had no idea how complex this story really was, so man ups and downs all leading to no answers. So sad! There's so much more to this story as well, I would check out the many books written about this case with many other theories. Let me know what you think down below! Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week and I will be seeing you very soon. Make good choices

One time in high school, two of my cousins were hanging out at my house with me while our parents went to my aunt's house right down the road. We were outside and a car came around and one of my cousins started talking to the guys in the car. My other cousin and I hadn't met them before and they were acting like players. Before we knew it, our other cousin had hopped in the car with them and took off! I immediately called my aunt's house to tell her mom and she was getting worried because I didn't know names or anything, but then she turned up down there. Turns out she did know them from school and asked them for a ride down the road but didn't clearly communicate that to me or our other cousin. But for a few minutes there we were pretty scared, anything could have happened.

The most confusing thing to me is why a high school would bring a bunch of teenagers to Aruba to party in the first place. That's such a wild concept to wrap my head around these days
@ShadesAndBoots
@ShadesAndBoots 2 жыл бұрын
Taking high schoolers on trips, even abroad, isn't new but the lack of supervision I think reflects on the tax bracket these kids were in. They probably were very use to having long leashes and were considered "responsible" enough to drink and party and socialize independently. Which led to grave consequences in this case.
@ThingsILikke
@ThingsILikke 2 жыл бұрын
Some parents don’t let their kids go to prom because of how wild the kids can get- I suppose this is nothing new. Natalie was set up- these traffickers probably were prepared down to there every move to shop for blonde American white girls. Apparently they catch a higher price in human trafficking than most other demographics

Someone I know had the exact same kind of trip way more recently, and even then I didn't understand why schools or school organizations do the party trips either. She managed to get her stuff stolen from her after leaving it unattended on a beach, due to being way too naive. Luckily nothing worse than that happened.

I went on trip my junior yr ( 1998/1999) to Spain with about 10 kids in total with my art teacher and her friend. It’s still blows my mind how little supervision we had. Another additional note: The man that was the frontman for the press and had close relations with Natalee's family in the dutch investigation was named Peter R. De Vries. He got killed earlier this year by being shot in the back of his head while walking through the streets of Amsterdam because of another investigation he was a part of into a big crime ring. Peter R. De Vries got Joran's confession on tape due to an undercover agent. Sadly the tape wasn't admissible. Peter R. De Vries never stopped fighting for justice even though he knew about the danger he brought himself in. Most Dutch people know about him, he's a household figure. Just wanted to share his name so we don't forget that even though there are bad people in this world there are also many great people like Peter.

They never found her body because she was probably off that island before anyone even knew that she was missing. Human traffickers probably had a boat waiting and the 3 boys lured her to the beach under the pretense of “going to see some sharks.” A young, beautiful, naive, and intoxicated tourist is a prime target for traffickers. So sad. PLEASE be careful while on vacation in foreign countries. Never let your guard down and trust no one.

Also, I’ve been to the island 5 times & I’ve always felt very safe. Arubans are so kind- like the afternoons I got lost when I got off the bus & couldn’t figure out how to get back to my AirBnB. A mom & daughter came by & asked if I was lost & gave me directions back to my AirBnB. There was only one AirBnB in that area at the time. They knew the white girl tourist had to be staying at this one place. Then I said “My friends son goes to this preschool” (where I got off the bus) and the Mom knew my friend & her son! That’s the Aruba I know & love!

She was definitely thrown into the ocean via boat or something in my opinion. Add to that the (sometimes) uncontrollable drive of a bunch of teenagers to "break the rules". It's just a tragedy honestly. In my personal opinion, based on Natalee’s body never being found and the constant dead ends when it comes to suspects or clues… I personally believe she was either kidnapped or sold into s*x slavery. She was a young girl that was beautiful, left either alone or with three young guys, separated from her friends, intoxicated, potentially on a beach, and was never found again. Joran’s story about trading her into slavery for money makes the most sense to me since her body was never found on the island or in the water and they spent over 2 months searching for her. Unfortunately with Natalee’s case, the media will never really know what happened to her, nor will her parents. That fact alone breaks my heart.

I've only heard one case not say that and I've been watching true crime for like 20yrs, like since I was 9 or 10! It was a long time ago but they were just like "they had some struggles and were going through stuff but they were trying to turn their lives around" every single other case is always "their smile lit the whole room"

I’ve always felt like people express themselves this way about people that are no longer here. Maybe the fact that they’re gone makes the memories of them that much more beautiful. Sort of “you don’t know what you have till it’s gone”.

I have thought about her every so often since she went missing. I went to Aruba with my mom one month before Natalee disappeared. We stayed at the same hotel she did. And we even saw Deepak working at the internet Cafe. The creepiest experience we had there was when we went to the movies, it was just the 2 of us and we got locked in the theater. I've never been back.

I think that the whole Dr. Phil thing is disgusting and very disrespectful towards Natalie. Making false claims towards a missing person (while not there to defend themselves) is just wrong, especially in an episode where her mother is supposedly being interviewed.

I believe this story is what stirred up the girl code culture. I don’t think women looked out for each other quite the same before this. I could be wrong but, even movies from the 70’s insinuate girls would let their friends run off with a hot stranger to get laid.

I once tried to go home with 3 irish football players (soccer players? As an american idk which I'm supposed to say lol) and my girls wouldn't let me and I remember dramatically being like "but they have accents! Plz!" 🤦 it was humiliating and annoying and yet they didn't give up, and I didn't go. Not saying something bad totally would've happened, but you really never know..

THANK YOUUUUUUUUU!!! Even in my wildest party days, the rule was 'we come together, we leave together' ... That is the one thing I will NEVER understand in this case. No real friend would let any of their friends get into a car with 3 men , much less in a foreign country. With friends like that , who needs enemies?!

I agree. This also wasn't a spur of the moment opportunity. I believe it was all planned, and she was just the victim of choosing. It would have been any girl that night. Joran was making money. Whose to say he hadn't done this before? And the only reason he didn't do it again is because he happened to choose the girl whose family had money to fight back. In Peru, he likely had the same deal going on. Or he just killed that girl to steal her cash. Either way, he is clearly motivated by money.
@mrslabayen
@mrslabayen Жыл бұрын
I also think his dad knew. He was either in on it, or he asked questions when Joran surely exposed all the money he made from trafficking her. Maybe he was the actual mastermind. Used his son, knowing he could attract a girl easily.
