Hi friends, happy Monday!
When I was researching today’s story there were just sooo many things that made me feel sick. Robert Berdella did everything from sticking needles under people’s nails, to putting a dog collar on a guy, to draining his victims of blood and even pouring drain cleaner in their eyes. Yuck.
Also, let me know who you want me to talk about next time. Hope you have a great rest of your week, make good choices and I'll be seeing you very soon

I just wanted to say that I have a newfound respect and appreciation for Bailey after watching a few other true crime YTers recently. They're not exactly the most engaging storyteller and one of them kept on looking at/reading from her script. Bailey makes it look so easy to remember all the facts and keep things interesting for a full 30 minutes to an hour. That's hard! Thanks Bailey for doing what you do!

I live in Kansas City, and my dad actually worked with Bob Berdella at the fancy country club you mentioned. They were both chefs there. Dad gave him rides to or from work sometimes. Dad said the entire time he worked with Bob, he never came across as a "bad" guy. He did say he was kind of quiet and a little... "odd," although he never has specified what he thought was odd about him. Just quiet and a little weird.

I swear Bailey is the sweetest person ever and she has a golden heart she even feels bad for these bad people even though she doesn't agree with what they had done and wishes they got the help they needed. Its hard to find compassion in people like this but I commend her for it and she has always stayed true and tells these stories so well. I could listen to her all day. 💜💜💜💜

@@tarzan9494That is truly disturbing, and should never have been allowed. Weren’t any of the parents worried about their young children being exposed to prisoners? Obviously I know nothing about how this “outreach” was set up or carried out, but I am sincerely concerned.. The fact that you mentioned it makes me think you are concerned as well. These children should have absolutely no interaction with inmates, no matter how safe or anonymous it’s been portrayed to be. This school is playing with fire. In this case, children’s safety. Bailey, in that time period in the catholic church it was very common for the priest to encourage widows and widowers to remarry for the sake of any children they have. My grandmother passed away when she was 45, and my grandfather remarried a widow within six months. The teenage kids hated this, but the younger ones felt a little more open to this change. Both my father and mother spoke of how this happened, in many catholic communities.
@elizabethjerden5758
@elizabethjerden5758 6 ай бұрын
Not a Catholic thing, it was a common practice for women to remarry as soon as possible regardless of child status or their religion. And of course, men were the bread winners... Remarrying quickly would have been the done thing at that time with children involved. By the 60's women's lib was a thing, but their life style sounded like the classic conservative all American picket fence 2.5 children thing.

KC Native Here- I'm always surprised that more podcasts haven't covered this case! You did a great job gal! This is a wild story! I run an event venue and we recently had a Canadian production company film a documentary about this case and used our space to interview individuals associated with the case. I may have learned a thing or two I hadn't known while listening! Also - I was the Event Coordinator at the country club you mentioned and as haunted as the whole club is (look up how many people were struck by lightening on THIS golf course!), the creepiest thing was when I was given the keys to what used to be his office, and found a filing cabinet that still had grocery orders and invoices with his notes and signatures on...eek.
