After a near death experience, Scott Jones realized life doesn’t need a long list of wishful events but rather more simplicity. Never do things you don’t want to do, ever. Recorded at TEDxVancouver at Rogers Arena on November 14, 2015.

TV host, popculture writer, entertainment critic and digitalmedia thought leader since the early 90’s, Scott Jones never could escape his ultimate destiny, to be a distinguished voice for geeks and gamers around the world. As the co-host of EP Daily, Scott has a long history of talking about everything cool in the world of video games and digital media.
Scott was busy living a healthy, active, and (mostly) normal life when a one-in-a-million medical nightmare changed his world. A difficult and unusual stroke forced him to reconsider who he was and what his entire life should be about. After a long and arduous road to recovery, he emerged a changed person with a unique perspective and attitude about his identity. His story offers a candid view on how to get more out of life while doing less.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Hi Scott! What an amazing talk. I was raised in Sout America, but since my childhood the way people did things did not make sense to me so I had decided to do what I felt like with common sense. Perhaps I learned it from my mother. She was an amazing woman who would not comply with society´s limitations. She learn how to read and write at the age of 30 yet she made enough money to live well off. I lived in America and Australia for few years, visited several countries as well. Now I am back home, I teach languages, but most of all I tell my pupils never to believe what I say unless they do research on that as well not to believe society´s fads. I thank you for reinforce the way I think!!!!

A year ago I got overwhelmed with work..started saying "Fuckit I don't care". Since then my sales have boosted huge. I now know I was trying too hard and people picked up on it. Now when I have a meeting my attitude is screw it...I don't freaking care...and you know what? My sales have gone up 500% and climbing. So my take at (58yrs old) is..you know what you've got in life, stop trying to sell it and relax. People gravitate towards confidence : )

I remember hearing about his medical problem and seeing him return in Reviews on the Run. I haven't kept up with it since then, I always thought he died, glad to see that he's actually doing pretty well nowadays. He's alive and happy at least. He's still looking *fine* too

@@scottjones2673 I just had one of Victor's videos show up in my feed. One thing led to another and I found this surprising video. I remember fondly those RotR episodes that seem like a lifetime ago. I just wanted to say thanks for all the fun times. Take care.

Such a great video, I often forget the 2 life or death experiences I've had in my past. Thinking of them definitely grounds me and reminds me that none of this shit is that serious, life is life. "F**k It!" by John Parking, excellent read btw.

Well, for one, it sometimes seems about anyone can become a TED speaker these days. That being said, I don't look for class in these vids, I look for education. If someone uses expletives to either explain themselves better, or to better reach their audience, I say: do what needs to be done.

yes there are good English adjectives other than four letter words. If you don"t want to do something don't do it. Has the speaker heard of "the other directed personality" . Read the "Lonely crowd " by David Reisman. jose francis v a, Cochin, India
