i've had to take apart my serif about a hundred times now to mess with the weights and swap out blades and such and Thank Christ in Heaven i have not had to replace my washers every gd time. would have driven me insane

Steel washers do stay with the blade btw, just FYI :) Nice video! I'm pretty convinced that steel is pretty much strictly better than bronze. Needing lube to function properly is a pro in my book, because as you said, running balis dry will actually damage them.

Here's my thing though...if you flip a pb washers knife for a while the pb washers wear down and get thinner...so on a steel washer knife the wear and tear isn't being taken by your pb washers anymore...so my guess is your knife will end up wearing down faster. 🤷‍♂️

They had the sickest sliftTs and prysma yesterday and I couldn't get them😭 it was a teal purple fade and purple respectively

Pretty sure the phosphorus bronze washers have more black sludge because they are a softer material than the blade (if its steel) and so they wear down first before the blade. When the blade and the washers are the same material they wear down at the same rate and wear down slower if properly oiled and maintained. Comparably in plastic the plastic is usually softer than the metal phosphorus bronze washers so it wears down faster just my thought let me know if anyone has any insight that I am missing.

the black sludge is because of a reaction between the phosporus and the lube AFAIK. I could be wrong though

Ill always buy machinewise products even have a slift otw but ill never agree with SS washers. The blade is thw same material there isnt another aofter materiql to take the wear first. So whats going ti happen is that wear on the blade will happen faster due to the tight tunes allowing it to rub anyways instead of the washers taking the wear more then the blade. Now both metals are the same hardness so yeah not the best. Sure your tune will last or I should say your washers but thats the one part made ro be replaced after wear instead you will see down the road many blades being redone because of this. Its why many modders arent even agreeing with SS washers now. About 80% of modders and other makers do not agree with SS washers which is why you wont see them happening with alot of makers.
