there are many “husband’s gal” everywhere, even in non celebrities, except she won’t be as hyped as a “wife guy” because society doesn’t care for women and what she does. it’s the same as people praising a man for doing bare minimum as a dad but a mom, who literally does the most for a child goes unappreciated because “it’s her job as a woman” after all 🙄🙄

Lol again with the victim playing 🤣 Men and women just have different struggles. If a guy breaks down, not many will pick him up as many people would cheer for him when he wins in his field but a lot of people will help a girl willingly and unconditionally when she's broken but not many will cheer for her when she makes it Also a wife guy is probably not financially dependant on his wife (if he is, she's probably exploring options like it happens in most cases) while a husband gal(the non celebrity ones) is most probably financially dependant on him.

I agree to this.. i see this is in relatives as well, they never feel pleased seeing a wife love her husband so much, as if "ya, it's her job".. but if the husband shows that, he either becomes "oh, such a pulchritude" or "joru ka ghulam"

To elaborate on one of your points, so many women give up/ are made to give up or take a break from their careers to start a family or in general, now because that she's married. Isn't that another husband's gal phenomena ?? But it will never looked upon as being supportive or self-less. For women, these are one of the many unsolicited responsibilities she never asked for.

It's the same with men taking care of their own children even if it's for a brief time, someone who'll clean up after himself or if he treats women like fellow beings and doesn't misbehave. While women are compared with those who are better than them, men will be compared with those who are worse than them and justify their actions. The bar for men is so low, it's a tavern in hades.

I would much rather have Indian men aspire to be 'wife guys' than the 'stalker/mard/angry young man' they've been portrayed as for so long. As far as whether its an act or genuine, i feel it does not matter. Everything celebs do is for the public eye, so might as well do something that could have a positive impact on the society. Why women dont need to be husband's gal because that's status quo - hence women are celebrated when they break out of the norm and claim their male-free independence. Thus, overall I do not agree with the arguments here.

The amount of conflicts and dare I say hypocrisy in your comment is staggering On one hand you praise and celebrate "when women break free from the status quo of husband's gal and claim their male free independence" because for centuries due to patriarchy it was not possible ,at the same you look at a wife's guy with suspicion and contemplate "whether it's an act or genuine" . You are celebrating one gender for breaking gender rules and looking at another gender with suspicion for breaking gender rules. And what is your problem with indian men that you blatantly labeled them as someone who aspires to be a stalker/mard/angry young man, implying that you see them as an already bad person who need to better themselves. Imagine if I gender swapped your comment and said something along the lines of I would much rather have Indian women aspire to be a loyal wife than a gold digger/manipulative/sl*t. In the realm of showbiz, everything celebrities do is part and parcel of their PR to better their professional gambit. The "Wife Guy" trope is just another facet of good PR. So it is asinine to read too much into it, unless one makes a living out of it. A "Husband's gal" wouldn't sell as much as a "Wife Guy" because then society would mistake it for the husband controlling his wife and the wife having no say in the matter and then it wouldn't be good PR.

Husband's gal more of will be like '' she either doing it to please her husband or she's supposed to be like that" according to society we live in, I guess wife guys sell more because we don't often see men's gushing over their wives in public or showing affection in front of everyone, Let's take an example like see if my dad made a tea once in while the whole family praises him for doing it whereas my mom who makes tea everyday we tend find no interest in it or probably it's more considered her job and same wife gushing about her husband more or like considered her job by societal standards!! BTW it doesn't matter how we display our relationship in public we should always be loyal to one though!

A genuine couple is one in which they are just themselves everywhere, not only on social media but in real life. Life is not just about significant events like the Red Carpet; it might also be as simple as going on an evening walk with their partner, stopping at a tea stall for a cup of tea, reminiscing the days when they were younger, without attempting to catch the attention of the media because, they don't feel the need to prove their chemistry, or love for each other to the world, but just to each other. Also, we have plenty of examples of significant icons who have always been entirely raw and honest in their PDA, whether on-screen or off-screen. At the end of the day, we all are humans, and we all do come to know with our intuition whether they are actually faking it or not. 🤔🤔🤔

agree max. it also brings spotlight on the husband than the appreciation that the wife is given like in the case of ryan reynolds! why is him being awestruck a big deal? isn't blake lively otherwise gorgeous or is being awestruck some kind of an achievement that it became all about him! did he fight a war or what?! eventually, the point is to glorify none of them and to not set expectations for every other man and every other woman basing on certain public behaviors of affection. and accepting and normalizing pda, love irrespective of the gender and the extravagance/simplicity of the performance of loving. because showing affection is a means of practising love than it is a performance, isn't it? performance leads to a trend of performances competing with each other for validation than coming from the intention of solely acting out of a sense of affection leading to chronic fatigue of performing love.

Even if a guy is praising his wife for her beauty, her intellect, her achievements, or any random thing I don't think there's anything to doubt or introspect, even if they're doing this for themselves or if they're mesmerized by her is no wrong, no? I agree this is the basic criteria for a healthy relationship but still we don't see this that much, atleast here in India, even if they're doing this, I guess they are also inspiring men in today's time, I feel🤔

Ok wife guys exist in real life too. My seniors in facebook , Instagram and watsapp show off their beautiful wife to the world . Glorify their wives soo much. They write beautiful long texts about her praising her etc and simultaneously flirt with juniors and subordinates. Try to make them their mistress . They put a facade of a lawfully married family man who has perfect life and children but don't hesitate to send friend request to girls and flirt with them online. They ask for dates etc.

Soo according to you if a man doesnt give credit to his wife then he is supressing his wife. But if he treats her woman as a queen he is just doing for attention. Do you even read your own script before shooting for the video.

I wonder who in their right minds think that a wife guy is a real thing. Only movie stars, tv stars and social media influencers do this shit. In real life one can be affectionate or very fond of his wife but he won't to do so publicly in your face type display of emotion. Celebrities are cartoons..they are fun to look at but don't imitate them coz that will end badly for you.

I always wondered why ''swaddle'' videos has a lot of Hollywood movies and stars' references despite being an indian channel but I am really disappointed and disheartened by knowing the fact that most of their content comes from channels like ''the take''. In academia, we call this plagarism and although you tried improvising it by adding ranveer Singh and kholi's examples but still 70% of the other reference were exactly same as the video on that channel. I thought you were a brilliant channel exploring new dimensions of the changing indian society but I had no clue that all those videos of yours that I was consuming so far was a result of plagiarism!!!

And I am now saying that one cannot seek inspiration from others. There is no harm in taking ideas from others but you know what, copying is also an art and you have failed miserably in it. Even if you have decided to talk about the idea of 'wife's guy', you would have made it by keeping indian society in mind, giving more indian examples rather than giving those Hollywood movies and stars' references whom I hardly know !! Stop doing this westernisation and comparing ourselves with west !! We have enough of our own examples and role models, you need not to justify indian phenomenons by giving western examples!!

Husband gal?? What are you talking about babe. Most women over the years were forced to base their identity around their husbands and kids, considering they were not given education and the necessary professional support. There are husband's gal aplenty. Ofcourse that is considered their "duty", so no praise or recognition for being a devoted wife there

Here is my 2 cents about the topic. It's really strange that if Anushka Sharma has took a pause in her career for husband and kid it's not even noticed or worse scrutinized for being that woman for setting up bad example however if Virat just praises Anushka for being always there and taking a stand for her (however both are jus performing their duties as partners). I didn't knew there is a term for this until now. But damn the amount of attention at times these celebrities give to their wives in public eye definitely feels like a part of branding. Not saying none of them are genuine but most of it feels like PR activity and some of the fan pages use them to subtly influence in thinking they are the best couple too. WHAT a STRANGE ERA we are living in?

I didn't agree with some of the swaddle arguments, and this is one of them. Of course there is going to be something negative and bad in everything that exists. Some dude cheated on his beautiful wife even while expressing his 'love' publicly, doesn't mean every men do that. For hundred of years, Wife's always mentioned how their husbands are like and they were just 'Husbands Girl'. wife's were not even noticed or heard by society. Now they are, and it's just a new change. and Change will always have both sides, good and bad. What matters is how much it is helping others or whether it's showing more positive results than negative. It's such a simple thing to understand. How can you Swaddle guys not understand this? Don't just try to make some random pointless videos just because you guys need to update on the channel regularly. I'm honestly getting bored and tired of recent videos of SWADDLE Channel!!
