Thank you that was helpful. I am a Manufacturing engineer and have background in 6 sigma but unemployed at the moment. Is it possible to start off with the green belt and skip the yellow? I mean is it a condition that I have to be working to apply for the green belt?

Hi Fahad! You can feel free to enroll directly into the Green Belt or even the Black Belt, based on your educational background and experience. There are no prerequisites and one level builds off of the other, so you will not miss out on anything important. I have my bachelors degree in Statistics and Mathematics. I did Post graduation in Business Analysis and also in Project Management. But I have no professional experience in Lean six sigma or in any field, can I go directly for the green belt ?

Hi Himanshu, White Belt certification is generally offered for free. It is a very basic certification where the training may only amount to 15-30 minutes. Organizations really do not place much value on this certification. With that said, it can still serve to be beneficial for those who want to see if Six Sigma is right for them.

will the certification authority screen profiles based on the pre-requisites you mentioned into the course or will they just teach and let us attend the course and appear for the exam

You will be required to show proof of certification (Black Belt) for the Master Black Belt program. No other pre-requisites are required for other programs.

@@socialsofshyam7 Thank you for your question. There is no industry requirement of work experience that needs to be provided, it is recommend to have relatable work experience, however there is no official Six Sigma governing body that requires work experience to sit for a Green Belt exam.

Try to learn about six sigma first. Read articles, watch videos... Join some skilled colleague in his project, observe and learn. Try small improvements by your self. You can use method without being certified, unless certification is important for your career. .

It's the most basic. Even Lower level than the yellow belt.

Hi Gregorio, You can start off at either the White Belt or Yellow Belt level. However, most White Belt programs only cover a small fraction of what is covered in a Yellow Belt program. It simply serves as an introduction, without getting into details about the concepts and tools.

This is non-sense when Bill Smith at Motorola came up with this he never put any of this in the process. There is no governing body of six sigma and no one sets the rules on how or what you do in six sigma. Just use your common sense and don't buy into this stuff, champions, executive sponsor, process owners, white belts or any other of this garbage, stick to proven Quality methods like Deming said, not a gimick.
