Dalot has been our most consistent player the whole season. He’s developing into a complete full back. That cross for McTominay was thing of beauty by Dalot. There was another amazing cross for Garnacho which was blocked when Garnacho took a shot. The 1st 20 minutes we were dominating Villa but after we scored the 1st goal, we went back to playing like Atletic Madrid

Seeing Dalot finally get his flowers brings joy to me man. Saw the vision Mourinho saw in him and since his return from AC Milan, he’s gone front strength-to-strength. He has the physical prowess, intelligence, and flexibility to be a proficient modern day fullback. Once ETH has been finally sacked and we bring in a progressive Manager (my first choice being De Zerbi), Dalot will go up to another level, I’m confident of it. Our best player this season bar none. Good to see people finally waking up!🤝🏾

I hope he gets us into champions league football next year but as soon as the season finishes Ten Hag should be sacked the same way LVG was sacked after winning the FA Cup. The decisions in the summer will tell me a lot about Sir Jim and Omar Barrada

As much we’re seeing change in the restructuring of the board, idk if the board will make the executive decision to sack him even with UCL. I know if we don’t make it, he’s 100% going. I don’t have full belief this board will be ruthless enough to bin him, even if we make too 4. Do you?

The beauty with Dalot is that even when asked to invert into midfield, his first-touch, composure and passing are always immaculate. Those who think he can't defend obviously lack an understanding of the technical nuances of defending. Sometimes Dalot's positioning or body shape alone contribute to our defense in an immense way. We have seen him even cover for his teammates in the backline whenever they step out of position. On this traectory, he may develop into worldclass.

Just recognize that Mainoo is good and has much potential but defensive intensity (especially when paired with Casemiro) is not fully realized yet. Many of these issues need to sorted out by him.

@@hooksx the issues aren’t him. The issues are the tactical set up. He’s left completely isolated. He’s arguably been better than Casemiro defensively since he has come into the team. Certainly doesn’t miss as many tackles

It wasn’t his errors. He was left completely isolated in the centre. It was a tactical error. Casemiro made more defensive mistakes in this game than Mainoo

@AtlantisFootball Not in this game in particular. He's still a young player and burdening him with the role of a 6, which we had to do when Casemiro was out, was asking a lot. He has all the makings of a world class CM, though.

Not really because if he would have thought of it he would have done it. Things turn out how the coach sets the side up. Hence why United follow Ten Hag’s tactical plan. He didn’t see the issue the whole game or didn’t know how to combat it

@@AtlantisFootball You partially answered the questions I had in mind with your recent clip on Onana. For sure, he'd be an excellent dfm & box-to-box (+ aerial gift in both boxes) all tied in one. But, there's one quality Onana lacks that Kamara (who you rightly pointed out has it in spades; but he's unavailable this summer due to his ACL tear): ability to progress the ball from defence. This 2nd phase of play, Utd really struggle with. And while Onana could plug the gaps left by Casimero's slower legs, he's not even at Kobbie's ball progression level. Let alone Kamara's, which is even better/truly elite. Does this mean Utd should go for 2 midfielders in the summer: eg Onana and (?) in order to solve this issue? If so, then noting that, Bruno's skills lie elsewhere, not ball progression either, should that 2nd midfielder be a Pirlo-like player thus allowing Utd to push Kobbie further up into 6/8 (perhaps his best position). Or go for a 8/10, who's calmer on the ball than Bruno, has more legs than Erickson, + a better injury-free record than Mount (such as?). Then eg Kobbie drops deep (6), and Onana links? The development of Dalot, Garnacho and Mainoo are going to save United about 200m in transfer fees. All areas that supporters thought would require upgrading in the summer. All appear to be nailed down by young guys under contract.

ETH does not trust Maguire is agile enough to handle Watkins.So Casemiro drops deep. However if it's Licha ETH can take that approach.

Nah its not because he trusted Maguire to push onto McGinn higher up the pitch in the same half. Also thats till wouldn't make sense because Harry Mgauire is more than capable of picking up McGinn in that role and you can't have a CM dropping to do a basic CB job that just fucks up the whole defensive shape higher up the pitch. Most likely casemiro dropped off his own accord

People don't realize that Dalot has been standing in at Left back most of the season. It's not easy for a right back to put in crosses from the left when played out of position. That's probably why the uninformed crossing criticism comes from. Hope people see his worth now.

everyone thinking it is easy to manage man utd saying that nagelsmann zerbi is better tactically than tenhag..on paper everithin is easy but the application from the players, the ingame situations etc can changed all of that in the instance..remember when tenhag made ajax played the most beautiful football in europe in 2018..man utd environment had changed even the best coaches to shit just like dat..what we need now is giving tenhag time to turn dis around..

The reason Casemiro didn't fill the vacation troubled Dalot and Mainoo is because Tan Heg doesn't trust Harry Maguire, whom seem totally additional player without fully trusting him. Had Martinez been there, we wouldn't worry about Mcgrain followed by Casamiro. So, really Tan Heg has nothing to do, it juts bad luck of not having sufficient defender to trust.

No it’s because he trusted Maguire to follow McGinn into deep positions in the same first half. If that was the case that’s poor tactical set up from Ten Hag. Most likely Casemiro just dropped himself realising McGinn was behind.

I don't knw if a video can be made on tactics comparison between 2 teams... like for e.g. At 13:08, I saw a tactic used by Aston villa yesterday copied from Brighton's playbook. A CB doing a defence-splitting pass to a forward, a deep midfielder ready to take it and a 3rd man already running towards the goal expecting a 1v1 chance with the keeper.

You don’t think the issue is actually the fact that Bruno is too far up? So they were always outnumbered in the mid-field? Also without Martinez, they can’t hold a high line because Maguire is too slow. Exacerbating the gap.

Well he has to be that far up alongside Hojlund to sustain pressure. That’s why I suggested going with a back 5 and then dropping Bruno alongside Mainoo and retreating from the press in order to cover space in behind

Nah coz he was pushing up on to McGinn in the same half. Also still doesn’t make any sense, can’t have a CM dropping from the midfield line just to pick up a player in the half space, Maguire is more than capable of doing that, he’s actually pretty good at that and it just fucks up the midfield line higher up the pitch. Most likely Casemiro dropped off his own accord

Erik didn't get anything wrong , once the players cross that white line it becomes their responsibility . Erik saw what was happening and made the changes that won us the game .
