Main value I get from these is the timings you plant seeds. My climate is a touch cooler so if I see you pant something on a video I know to do the same within the fortnight. This vid was super valuable. Thanks

So so good Anthony!! Thanks for the seed starting information. I’ll be joining you this season and I’m really looking forward to it. I have a bigger garden than you but it’s not nearly as productive, hopefully next season will be better. Great content, thanks so much. Cheers Nicole

Thanks for watching. I would love more space! The key I find to increasing productivity is to always have a lot of seedlings on hand and have them ready for planting out as soon as a spot comes available. Also starting the season early with early plantings and using the right spacings in your bed to maximise the number of plants really helps too.

Hi Anthony, you are a gem 💎Thank you so much for taking the time to produce this video and share your vast garden planning knowledge. I have never planned this far in advance, so good to know what we can do during the cooler months towards being ready for planting in the coming months. With thanks, Nola

I'm terrible at planning so far in advance, it's great to learn from someone on the ball. Last year I grew F1 varieties of cucumbers in my polytunnel. My fave was Poco, the little snack cucumbers. They produced all the way into May.

This was a game changer video for me. I have never thought about spring veggies until September, when it's usually way too late. I'm also in Sydney around Hornsby and hoping to follow your seed starting plan. Very grateful for your videos and sharing your experience.

I always find that I start both my winter season and summer seasons half way though the current season. I started raising brassicas at Christmas and I’m raising tomatoes in July. When you are at the tail of the current season your best to start planting for the next season

Hi Anthony, this was a great video on planning. Like you I have massive QFF problems. Last year I used fruit bags to protect the fruit and companion plant with Basil and Marigolds which was very successful. I'm going to trial the same with my capsicums this year. My favorite tomato is Black Cherry. The fruit are so sweet, and your kids will love them. Cheers

QFF is a huge problem where I am in Sydney too. Like you I use fruit bags which makes a massive difference. I also use fruit fly baits (you need one type for the males and another type for the females) and this has kept the populations down. The male traps also give me an early warning that the fruit fly are starting to become active so I can start bagging the fruit.

Thanks mate I find my garden is too big to net. Could be me just giving up on the crop. Tomatoes are usually mostly picked and full of blight by the time QFF come past so I am happy to rip out and replant. Was upset though that my capsicums got hit and would have liked to have netted those but don’t want to spend the cash. Will look at netting potentially my jalapeños though

I have those pheromone traps for male flies and you can also make your own traps for the female ones using orange juice with pulp and ammonia liquid mixed together and put in a bottle with holes for the fruit flies to enter

thanks Anthony. that's something backyard veggie growers like me struggle with, which varieties to plant when, according to the variety. farmers have this knowledge and access to resources that we dont know about and dont know how to use. for example, they know when a particular variety should go into ground according to average soil temps they access for their area. i plant out summer crops oct/nov because of melb climate, so a while yet for me to plant seeds. still looking for a farm like seed supplier, with all the extra info, without having to buy massive packets of seeds. digging in slowly the two cubic metres of sand. going to be bit by bit, as spring maturing crops finish. take care. i also do eggplants in summer, and a crop of banana type sweet peppers. these peppers can be substituted for capsicums i dishes or preserved. they dont need as much support as those big bell peppers.

Yeah in Melbourne last year it stayed cold for a long time up to November lucky you got a summer planting in. I have been searching for more retail seed suppliers and I’m going to try Petra seeds which I found do mostly cucumbers and also have a tomato and zucchini variety I’m going to try this year. They do retail sales and seem quite reasonably priced

Thanks for the video - I'm looking at your 100sq/m sheltered garden with envy! I have 40sq/m on an exposed hillside allotment plot SE Melbourne, but like you, never see frost 👍 Thanks for sharing your varieties, it's interesting you go for commercial choices, I guess they're more reliable. This year tomatoes-wise I'm repeating Black Russian & Mortgage Lifter, with San Marzano for my sauce tomato. I found these quite good last year, but did get blight later on, so I cleared them earlier than I would have liked. This year I might plan a second sowing to replace the plants. I'm also trying Yellow Cherry Honey Bee & Blazing Beauty from the Dwarf Tomato Project which is said to have good disease resistance. Excited to see how they go. So glad to have found your channel mate - thanks again 👍
