Mahalo for sharing your trip with us! Little Ellie is just incredibly cute; our grand daughters are currently living in Arizona, and we just do not see them often enough. We have been living on Kauai for over 10 years now. We love it, except for the isolation from our lovely grand daughters. All the best to the three of you.

Thank you for sharing this tidbit of information regarding the difference of living on Lanai. Sadden to hear how hard it is for the locals to survive there. My nephew lives there. He hunts and raises chickens. Like the old style, they help each other out by sharing their goods. $170 on one visit to get groceries? That's crazy. Here I was grumbling about the gas prices. At one time, Lanai's gas was the highest in the State. Your video was truly eye opening.

Yes, I think a lot of people also hunt! Reid brought home some venison since a lot of people hunt deer there.... we have yet to try it though. It was a super eye opening trip.

@@Caritaira I've had venison without knowing it was. Grandma made it teriyaki style, stew and vinha d'alhos style. Took me a while to try it. I'd take venison over mouflon which is the other meat they hunt. Couple years ago, I got some teriyaki style from friends, gave it ALL to the hasband.

Aloha Cari & Reid, just trying to catch up on your videos and just viewed this one. I've been wanting to go to Lanai but I agree, those Four Seasons resorts are WAY too expensive. I saw a boutique hotel Hotel Lanai, but it looks like they are booked out. That was nice you were able to stay at a friends place. I hope to make it out there one day. Thankyou for sharing. It’s so heartbreaking how Larry Ellison is “running” the place there. Having locals survive there is ideal and hopefully ongoing for as long as it can. Please share any local lanai businesses/instagrams so people can purchase goods. Great video, not only letting us locals see the island but to bring awareness too.

Happy Anniversary Cari and Reid! Thank you for vlog! Hearing about the local economy and seeing some of the sights was very interesting. I haven't been to Lanai since I was a kid. I remember just going fishing.

Hi Miles! Yes, it was very eye opening for both Reid and I. Our favorite part of the trip was talking to the locals and getting to know their island a little bit through their eyes.

Lanai is beautiful...our family lives there...most times we ferry over to Lana'i from Lahaina Maui. However, with the current situation in Lahaina, I dont think the ferry is available....I would love to move there someday soon.

Watched your video for a second time because I wanted to hear again what you and Reid talked about around the 27 minute mark. Shame on Larry Ellison This was a bad business deal the State did with him. He’s holding the residence hostage and I wish he sells Lanai…highly doubt it….but he’s not a good man
