Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag stands out as a remarkable entry in the Assassin's Creed series, not just for its affiliation with the franchise but for its exceptional portrayal of the pirate era, making it arguably the best pirate game alongside Sea of Thieves. Set in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy, the game seamlessly blends the elements of stealth, exploration, and naval combat, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the life of a pirate. The vast open world, teeming with lush islands and bustling ports, provides an unparalleled sense of freedom and adventure. The naval mechanics, a standout feature, offer thrilling ship-to-ship battles and a captivating sailing experience. Black Flag's narrative, anchored by the charismatic protagonist Edward Kenway, successfully weaves the intricate threads of the Assassin-Templar conflict into the vibrant tapestry of the pirate world. With its captivating story, immersive gameplay, and a meticulously crafted pirate setting, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag not only excels within the Assassin's Creed universe but also stands as a pinnacle in the genre of pirate-themed gaming experiences.

I think I personally liked Syndicate a bit more than Unity. It had a better story than Unity, but Unity definitely had more to do with the Assassin Brotherhood which makes it a better AC story for me. if the Parkour and combat systems of Unity were in Syndicate, it would probably be the perfect AC game imo. The setting of 1868 London is perfect in my eye. An expansive map having big open areas but also condensed buildings and interiors is amazing. The control scheme in Syndicate is a thousand times better than in Unity (who makes crouch to L2??).

This basically happens with every Ubisoft game. lol Valhalla is one of those games where it's not intended to be raced through. It's a game you sink many hours into, take a break for a few months, then return. Like most people do with the Witcher, Fallout and Skyrim. It's a true open world RPG, which I think bugs the hell out people trying to 100 percent complete it within 40-50 hours, and it's just not possible. I took the same approach at first when they turned the series into RPG's and I got burned out really quick because I was spending too much time trying to discover every last thing in each region, which honestly isn't necessary. It's better to take a balanced approach and stick mostly with missions and side missions.

No man, i think the problem with Valhalla was the time they spent lying to us, and the game did not have an AC feeling at all, it felt like its name should be Viking Saga or other thing related, for those who bought it early like me felt like we bought not a game but a colection of bugs, ended up they never fixed any through out the next patch versions they launched, ex of that was the unseen fish, plus the story was also weak and the ending made several of us not buying Mirage at all, Basim was not a strong character, ended up being the villain and turning tables on the whole story so far that with each game goes away from the original fight between AC and Abstergo and now in Mirage people go back to play as Basim, its like they are saying "we screw up but still want your money for same skins with different colors"....

Unity was peak AC for me, Paris seemed so beautifully created and you literally felt like in the middle of the revolution, where one side of the city was rich looking npcs while the other side the poor looking npcs felt like they were gonna stir up some trouble. One mission literally has you stealing books to save them from burning. That was what felt like you were in the middle of a revolution. As for Arno's character, he felt a little childish but could be understood, a man in the middle of a revolution will be feeling conflicted, but he's the first one to actually question the creed, if what he was doing was right and the chemistry with Elise was amazing, every twist and turn felt great. It also has the best combat imo and wonderful coop missions. The creed point system was amazing and the parkour moves felt so cool. Plus, it could let you wall eject from anywhere unlike syndicate, allowing arno to seem like a flying squirrel. A lot of people claimed bugs, but i bought it on a ps4 and apart from one download of the entire game, i didnt have any issues playing.

As far as hack and slash combat (AKA Origins to Valhalla) Valhalla is gloriously brutal and fitting. Though aside from being given a hidden blade to make sure the game has something 'special' for you... I just think going along the lines of something akin to Leonidas' spear head in Odyssey would have been better, if only because stealth in Valhalla is Extraordinarily difficult even while blending in. "Mistrust" areas basically being half baked hostile areas where you'd be picked up and targeted as suspicious in three seconds when within thirty feet of an enemy. And stealth kills are all just smother, neck break or yank back and face smashing punching. It's more a game "In the world of Assassin's Creed" rather than a true assassin's creed game.

My favorite AC game is and always will be ACIV: Black Flag. I 100% acknowledge that it has many issues. There are probably too many tailing missions, and they can be boring at times. The parkour can get real janky at times as well. The combat boils down to pressing circle and then square over and over if you're playing "optimally". Any criticism you have about the game is probably valid. But it's JUST SO FUN. You get to be a pirate! You go around, exploring the massive Caribbean, finding treasure and collectibles everywhere. There are side quests all over the place; there's no rush to complete the main storyline. There's so much to do, so much to see, you can fight enemy sailors in and on ships, or you can hunt down templars on land. You can find buried treasure! I've played the game all the way through probably 5 times now, and i'm currently on my sixth playthrough, and in my last one, I 100%'ed the game. Do you understand me? I 100%'ed an AC game. Every animus fragment, every shanty, every side mission, EVERYTHING. I love the game with all my heart and I always will. If you don't like it, i'm not mad; I feel sorry for you because you'll never be able to experience it the way I did my first time around. And if you've never played it, I found my copy in the used section of a game store for only $10. Maybe you should check around, see if you can try it out sometime. :)

I think black flag is an anomaly among assassins creed games and I wish skull and bones was better. I think assassins creed does a great job of putting you in cities/areas with alot of history to them and alot of landmarks to explore. You get to see these ancient cites brought to life and you get to see historical events unfold as they get tied in to this sci fi war between assassins and Templars. And then there's black flag, where the main story is atrocious in my opinion. Both the main missions and alot of the ideas I feel like suck. And then there's the pirating, which makes it my third favorite assassins creed game to actually play. It was great. Everything about the ship to ship gameplay is great. Everything about being a pirate is great. They could have capitalized on it with a great pirate game without being tied to the assassins creed franchise and I still don't know why 10 years later all we got was skull and bones.

@@arthand7672 Honestly, I agree on all points. Black flag is an anomaly. I also honestly agree that the main story... could definitely have been handled better. And I agree: despite the aforementioned simplicity of melee combat, something about pirating enemy ships in ACIV just never gets old. I'm glad you're able to appreciate some parts of the game, and I also wish some other pirate game out there somewhere would be able to capture the same sense of engagement that playing ACIV does for me. It's really a shame that this is the only game I can go back to for this specific type of gameplay.

Valhalla ist just not an actual AC game. It's a viking game that had the trademarked slapped on it to boost sales and then added some features as an excuse
@Meravokas

@@GameBreaker1055 I'd say "In the World of Assassin's Creed" as to the story outside the Animus, it is important. But I'm not going to argue that the game in general is not really a proper Assassin's Creed game. Stealth? What stealth? Can't blend in effectively, get spotted easily. Just fight through it unless a mission Requires that you take the stealth rout. Also the hidden blade is basically just jewelry since it's hardly even used, lavishly decorated and just used as a punch blade in 99% of the times it is used since it's mounted on top of the forearm.

Even though you don’t play as an assassin the story is still about the brotherhood and the templars, but because the story is stretched out to fit 100 hours it ends up being something you overlook. Meanwhile odyssey straight up straight up had nothing to do with assassins or templars.

The ONLY criticism that I am truly able to make of AC2 is that it completely shifted the tone from the first game, from "Spy thriller", to "Hollywood movie about spies". For some, this was good. And I won't dispute that it gave the series its popularity. Nor that the Ezio saga is amazing, its parkour amazing, its combat amazing, etc, you get the point. But those who stick with AC1 will realize that the game is STILL more mature in its tone, concepts and execution than ANY other AC title. In AC1 you really DO feel like an agent who is working for a cryptic order of Assassins that are trying to influence politics and the outcome of wars. You help the city BECAUSE it makes you gain favours from its populace and destabilizes the region to help YOUR MISSION. You help your Order's brethren BECAUSE they will give you intel on YOUR marks. Altair was a true Assassin. He "feels" like an Assassin. I have never felt much of that in any other AC protagonist. Truth be told, I've only played AC1, the Ezio trilogy, Origins, Unity, and Odyssey. The only time I've felt like Ezio "kinda" felt like Ezio was in Revelations, and that's about it. Every other AC game that came after the first, has NEVER reproduced the feeling of the 1st AC.

My #1 favorite AC game is often fighting with the second place making the games interchangable. As of right now #1 is AC 3 and #2 is AC Brotherhood though it probably wont be long before the positions are switched. Ac 3 was my first experience with an Assassin's Creed Game. I was playing the game at my friends house, he was stuck in an assassination mission, early game haytham where you needed to free captured natives before your target is exposed. Once I air assassinated someone for the first time, i left my friends house to go to gamestop, bought AC 1 and I have been a fan since. I liked the activities in AC 3 most about the game, the homestead missions, the liberation missions, hell even the underground and Connor is a effing beast. Brotherhood on the other hand I like for different reasons, i love the lair of romulus missions and the armor set you get from those missions is my favorite outfit in the series. The Assassin mechanic was so fun to me and I abused the crap out of it. There was some parts of the story I always had a problem with, there is a sequence of missions where you infiltrate the palace to get to cesare borgia and I hate that sequence with a burning passion. I disliked the mission where you assassinate the banker, the half naked guy. And if you are playing the dlc or the game in the ezio collection there is a series of missions focused on a historical figure and the first mission in that game I hate so much. They throw like 30 enemies at you and i think one of the optional objectives is to not take damage. You may think "Oh thats easy with counter kill," you cant counter kill a brute with a heavy weapon or a spear. Best option is a smoke bomb which you likely wont have when the mission is unlocked.

If I have to pick my favourite, probably Syndicate. Loved the Victorian setting, grappling hook for days and while Jacob is nowhere near my favourite I don’t think he’s that bad. Unity I’d have to say is the worst for me. There’s things about it I appreciate and the things people praise it for do have merit, but for me it comes with a big asterisk with the phrase, “When it works”. This game was so inconsistent with how the mechanics worked that it became really grating over time and the story and characters weren’t interesting enough to keep me invested. Plus I lamented how the French Revolution felt really under-utilized. Say what you will about Syndicate, I feel it ironed out the inconsistencies, used its setting better and had a much more enjoyable time overall.

Brotherhood will always be my favorite. It felt like they did a really good job of carrying over what was good about assassins creed 2 and gave us the Borgias as the villians who are in my opinion one of the more interesting historical enemies that we've had a chance to go up against. I haven't played much past black flag, but it was interesting as I already somewhat knew who the Borgias were and got to see them fleshed out in the game. It added to the element of these games where you feel like you are playing through history even if there's a bunch of Sci fi elements to it. Plus Leonardo da Vinci and his inventions were fun and the multiplayer was so much fun too. I still remember constantly 1 v 1ing my friend and we would just try to stun each other as much as we could.

Altair was the OG! We all fell in love with Ezio! I'm American so Connor had a special place in my heart. Who doesn’t love pirates, right?! And the gameplay is the best pirate simulator we've got! Rogue was a nice change of pace and who couldn’t relate to a good betrayal story that makes you see people from a different point of view? Unity did have some cool gameplay. Syndicate was the smoothest combat animations and who didn't want to run a crime family? Origins had the best story of the series and was revitalizing because of its controversial mechanics. The story of a rage-fueled father taking revenge for his son's death and in the process of learning to let go of his hate and his grief founded the order with his wife. He becomes the First true hidden one as he needed no recognition. Such a great story! And skipping the next 2, Mirage does justice to its long-time fans. It's what made us fall in love with Assassin's Creed.
