Assassin's Creed 1 is my favorite specifically for the atmosphere and time period. Everything felt worn down and dingy or cold. The Templars spoke in foreign tongue to show how distinctive they were to the land you roamed, and there were no ironic cheap joke characters. AC III is my favorite for a few reasons, but two that people don’t really talk about are the community missions and complex followers - two features that sadly weren’t really carried into later games. With the community missions, you can progressively watch a community spring up around Achilles’ home with the people and friends you meet and help. It shows how you are making a difference in the world instead of just random side missions. The followers were far more developed than in the previous games. You do personalized missions for specific characters that reward you with new follower abilities. You can even talk to them in their cities and learn about their lives. One of them was actually present in that opening mission in the theater and saw Haytham. These are a couple aspects that made the game feel more personal/immersive that I haven’t seen since (as far as I know).

Unity for me was peek AC. The fluidity of animations while moving was astounding at the time - i had never seen anything like it. The graphics were of the best i have ever seen and still hold up to this day. The combat was very good, although a bit clunky, I really loved the direction they were heading and it finally felt like you could make your own assassin and customize it to your own liking. I wish they improved upon Unity and made a new game with the same style of parkour and combat but fleshed them out. Instead we got the RPG's, which i am not mad - Egypt was a fun place and a great game, but I really really wished they continued with the Unity's animations and combat.

@AdolfEichmann1906 I personally like the combat. I like the strategy involved with the energy bar thing. It makes it less attack, parry, attack, dodge, and leads to less spamming, since every button counts. I also like using the hidden blade in combat, and think the parkour's the best in the RPGs (still sucks compared to the old ACs). I also kinda like the story and like Eivor as a character. Stealth is okay, but at least it has instant assasinate, social stealth, and you can hide easily once you're detected. Honestly AC Valhalla was fun as hell to me. They made some awesome mechanics that are more streamlined than other titles. For example the raids Large scale combat like in AC odyssey and a bit of ship warfare (though small) like black flag. You can also build your own raiding team to make an entire party of badass Vikings. Yeah it was very long but it was very enjoyable. Badass Vikings taking on as an extension to the creed. Hell, it even had some throw back missions when you enter Vinland. The area you explore over there is the same area that you explore when you start as Conner from AC3. Some areas don’t go unnoticed after so many years. A nice tie in the the eventual time period to loop right back to altaïr’s story. Yeah it was very long but it was very enjoyable. I gotta say though it wasn’t my first AC game ever played, it definitely was my favorite. I wish I could have said the same for its DLC that is posing as its own stand alone title.

Valhalla is a good game, just a bunch of people don’t like that it’s not 100% assassin based. Even tho you are hunting corrupt order members, they’ve just infiltrated churches, and positions of power. I agree it’s the best one they’ve made in my opinion, I’ve had the most fun playing Valhalla than any AC game other than Unity. I also like how Ubisoft does their research, they actually have real characters in games, like ivaar the boneless, George Washington, Cesar, and so on.

I'm playing Valhalla now. At first, I thought I was gonna dislike it. I thought it was going to be bad. I was dead wrong, like most people are. Valhalla gets so much right and so much wrong. It's the most polished AC and the one that needed the most polish. It sounds crazy, but only people who played it in full understand. The best pacing of all games, one of the best storylines (but not Assassin's Creed like), the poetry of playing a Viking Saga, together with the horrible NPC animations, bugs, uninspired fighting system, terrible AI, but the best looting in the franchise, the most amount of new mechanics, the explanation of so much of the lore of AC, the total different types of gameplay (including roguelite gameplay, mastery trials, raiding, crazy platforming puzzles, etc), but also no present storyline, uninteresting crossovers, excessive length, repetitive and uninteresting forts/castles, few bosses, but great music, great side characters... I could go on, but you guys get the picture. AC Valhalla, the best and the worst of the franchise. And I'm loving it.

@@metodoinstinto it’s really a beautiful game bro, and the lore is somewhat accurate, of course they put thier own spill on it and also the characters, most of them in the story were real people but not much is known about them so of course they have to make a story, I just love the combat system and also the dismemberment on the killcams is satisfying lol

For me it's the Tomahawk in AC3, that single weapon makes me like that game, and I hope to see this weapon more and more in other games, the weapon is fast, strong, agile and rewards momentum. That and the wide camera style combat plus the fantastic kill animations, makes AC3 the best combat in a AC game. Combat in all RPG games is way too floaty. Even fans who love that style agree with that.

Black Flag was my introduction to the series, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. Up until then, the themes of the AC games hadn't really interested me, but "open world pirate game" certainly caught my attention. The open world was one of the most balanced in the series, large enough to genuinely explore without getting tedious. And as mentioned in the video, Edward is an easily likeable protagonist, indeed most of the characters in that game felt quite well-rounded. But I would say Rogue is my favourite of all. Shay easily matches up to Edward (in my opinion anyways), and many of the game mechanics are instantly familiar from Black Flag but with some nice QOL improvements made. The new perspective of playing as a Templar agent was quite well handled in both the story and gameplay elements too - for example, having Adewale be one of your targets was a genius idea, because that's a returning character that the player is likely to genuinely feel terrible about betraying (assuming they played BF beforehand, of course), helping immerse them in the feelings that Shay himself would have.

I played the 4 first games realesed in this specific order: AC2, AC Brotherhood, AC1, AC Revelations. And I would most CERTAINLY recomend that to anyone who decides to start playing the whole franchise as late as I did. AC1 is a game with a great thematic and atmosphere, but can become really monotonous and it doesn't bring the game's whole plot and mythology in a very engaging way. AC2 is an awesome game to start because of how you acompany a very charismatic main character who is also learning for the first time what it is to be an assassin. After you play AC2 and then Brotherhood, you play AC1 to see how it all is from the perspective of an assassin well trained, but with a much more stuborn personality, and you get to experience the whole assassins scenario from much older times, which makes you very much engaged even though the game is more repetitive. After that, when you play revelations, and get back to Ezio, but a much older and wiser version of him, and you actually FEEL like a lot of time has passed because you just played another entire game before getting back to that character, imertion is guaranted. And also, all the callbacks that Revelations game makes about AC1 will feel much better because AC1 is very fresh on your mind, as you just played it.

I loved AC Revelations simply because of the hook blade, and the variety of enemy types.

For a second I was worried you’d forget Rogue, usually it’s listed before Unity due to being a 360 game(Rogue and Unity are my favorites)

Even though i have been playing this francize since the start and im still in love with the Ezio trillogy, i didnt think Valhalla was THAT bad. So far i have been playing the game almost only using stealth (which yes i know makes the game actually harder) but im enjoying it this way. I believe that some aspects needed more work and polish though especially since we also had God of War for a nordic setting and they did a much better job at representing Norse mythology than ac valhalla did

I loved Valhalla because of the "city building" aspect. It was pretty easy to kill enemies too

So admittedly I'm only partially through Valhalla but I do like it. I wouldn't call it my favorite but I think it has its points. The viking stuff is fun, and seeing the assassins from a much more removed and outside perspective is fun. I dont think we've seen that since ac4, but not quite to this degree

Assassin's Creed 3 will always be my favorite. I was the ps2 kid for a long time while the other kids had 360 or ps3. When i finally bought an used ps3 i run to the game shop and bought black ops 2 and AC3. It was my first Assassin's Creed game that i finished myself. I was familiar with the hole AC story watching videos on youtube and then i was there, watching the last episode of Desmond...

Rogue because it truly shows a story of the road of good intentions. Shay’s genuine despondence over what happened in Lisbon is up there with Ezio’s scream at his father’s execution/revenge against the Pazzi, Connor’s “BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL!” And more. A tad convenient that the assassins were so bullheaded towards him, but the results were awesome.

Brotherhood holds a special place in my heart because it was the first AC with multiplayer and I made some great friends (although short-lived, still cherish those memories). If I were to rank AC2, ACB and ACR in order though, it'd go AC2, ACR and then ACB however. Just based on the single-player experience, AC2 and ACR had some really nice soundtracks and a sense of tranquillity to it that I can't describe. I always felt tense for half the gameplay of brotherhood and the ending really rubbed me the wrong way (if you know the real reason behind them killing Lucy off - VA wanted more royalties so Ubisoft just killed off her character instead).

Yeah I enjoyed it as well. It showed someone who had assassin DNA fragment and matched the AC2 that said the earlier assassins were basically like gods and had powers beyond human but those powers lessened over time so eagle vision for example was one that stayed over the generations. Showed what someone with that DNA did before assassins were invented and exactly how brutal that power can be in a setting of constant war and power struggles.

AC2 was the most amazing and memorable one to me, but my all around fav was Rogue. Origins was also pretty great. Still have to return to it some day for the DLC stuff. You should have used the one with Clarkson laughing at Saudi Arabia instead of Risitas in the last one imo xD

I've played every AC apart from Odyssey and Valhalla because of obvious reasons, and I gotta say, AC Brotherhood, AC Unity, and AC III will always hold special places in my heart. Connor was a really good character, different from Ezio but just as good. There, I said it
