Francis Goddard no, amateur wrestling isn’t the MMA. Amateur wrestling, which is Olympic style wrestling, revolves around pinning your opponent to the mat. Strikes and submissions aren’t allowed.

@@maxcrss2845 There actually are submissions in amateur wrestling, but they differ a lot from MMA and BJJ. Submissions in wrestling are basically just used as another way to get in a dominant position over your opponent, like using a joint lock to get your opponent onto his back for example

The problem with "breaking wrestlers in" is that anime rules don't apply to real life. Your body won't be better for it. Sure, your pain tolerance might go up, but your body isn't going to get stronger. It's going to get progressively more brittle as the mileage adds up.

I believe the Hogan story 100%. Eddie Graham was known for approving of and instigating these tactics. Ron Fuller discusses a couple of similar stories on one of his podcasts as well. Going from there, Bob Roop claims he tried to warn the guy to leave beforehand, when asked about it in an interview not too long ago, but claims Graham kept getting the guy to get back into the ring. Do I believe this? Honestly, I dunno.

Project DASKZ bruh why are y’all comparing wrestling to actual physical SPORTS it is not the same. and again those people still made it to the dance, regardless if they succeeded to even make it you beat a majority of the population most of these trainers were jobbers dawg, it’s not hard to get into a big fed if they need someone to take a pin for the night, but they act like they were equal to someone as simple as a Mr.Perfect. in wrestling it is the only entity where someone teaches you to act like a star when they never sniffed anything monumental and people are ok with that thought process

My first 4 weeks of pro-wrestling training consisted of: Both ankles being sprained repeatedly, had to tape them up to the point of immobility before every practice after day 2. Ruptured eardrum week 2. Rib popped out of sternum, week 3. Torn quadricep week 4. And that's just the semi-major stuff. I didn't have a cruel trainer either. He was tough, but not cruel. Just because the outcomes are predetermined, doesn't mean pro-wrestling is easy on a person or a body. I challenge any of the "You know that's fake" crowd to 4 weeks in training. I doubt many would make it out of day 1.

@@Thor-Orion I would say I was middle of the road at the time, although flexibility & the fact that I started at a much older age than I should've, probably played a big role. The ring I started in is also known as one of the stiffest rings around too. Regardless, I don't know any MMA guys who came out of their first month of training with the laundry list of injuries I had. I don't know anyone from any other sport whose experienced that sort of punishment. And if you find an athlete whose transitioned from another sport to pro wrestling, they'll tell you, NOTHING was as tough as wrestling training.

The trainer who "responded with one of his own" to the girl's dropkick isn't a he. It's a young Meiko Satomura; arguably the best female wrestler of all time. She's mellowed since then.

Now I know why those bridging suplexes looks so good when executed in Japanese wrestling promotions, even the basic bridging manuever needs to be perfected.

The Matt Cappotelli/Hardcore Holly one was in Holly's book. He felt they were being disrespectful with laughing and goofing off during their training so he was like "I'll show you something serious then" and stomped him for it. John Morrison, also from that season, later went up to Holly years later when he made it to the main roster and said something along the lines of "I totally understand why you did that now and agree that it was the right thing to do, we were stupid". Not defending what he did, just pointing this out.

What last laugh? He has some accomplishments like making it to WWE. Did he win any championships or make the main event? No. He is undefeated in mma but did he seek the bigger fights & the bigger prize? No he left the mma world before somebody would have made him tap or nap. He has that bully outreach thing but even Jason Miller called out Puder for trying to capitalize on the idea of mma guys dealing with bullies.
