What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

I hate parents who tell their kids in such young ages they need to loose weights. If your child is overweight just have a new entire diet for the entire family and serve different kind of food, smaller plates and portions and include everyone to do some sports activities. Joining a sport team, riding bike regularly or anything like that so the kid can loose weights without being shamed .. kids these ages don’t feed themselves! It’s the food you serve and lack of physical activity that makes them weight more..

They don’t have to be. Schools, boys and girls club, park districts often offer free or reduced pricing for low income families. Seek out resources. Call your local park district. Even my local zoo offers summer camp and they’re donors offer scholarships. Also, the park is free. Even most low income families have wifi and at least a device to stream on; there’s dance videos and other things families can do together for free. Be creative and be willing to change yourself for the better of your child. @@livewithmeterandnomeasureb1679

If a child does NOT want to ride a bike or run, you will not force him/her, because how can you? If he/she eats sweets outside the home, you can't control it, unless you guard him/her like a prisoner and don't let him/her go out on his/her own even across the street. Being a parent is difficult. There is no tutorial for this. You are a parent straight away. Sometimes your solutions are good, sometimes you go astray.

honestly, the most touching thing about this video is the teenage girls that stepped in to help her make her feel comfortable. telling her she is gorgeous no matter what. because today, girls that age don’t often feel that way. a lot of girls are nasty about appearances.
@jimjohnson358
@jimjohnson358 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah but she isn't gorgeous as an obese child. You people just lie to fat people and they never exercise or eat healthy as a result. You have to acknowledge there is a problem. Alcoholics, drug addicts, sex addicts, all have to acknowledge they have a problem before getting better, so should obese people.

Jim Johnson i kind of get the point you’re trying to make, but that girl is not obese, wtf. do you know what obese looks like?? and who says she isn’t gorgeous? in my opinion, she is a very beautiful girl. helping/supporting someone in leading a healthy lifestyle and putting them down and hurting their feelings because of their current one are two completely different things.

My mom is like this.😕 Edit: I read & appreciate every comment here. Thank you for sharing. I am not glamorising obesity nor living an unhealthy lifestyle but pointing out the parental skill here & disagree with it. I understand most of the parents wanted the best for their child; perhaps they can advise & express their concern for their child with a kind tone & in private, instead of insulting them in public. I also noticed some comments here that stated being fat is disgusting etc. & relate it with overeating. We need to educate ourselves that overweight also can happen due to various reasons such as puberty, genetic & medical conditions. I had tons of arguments with my mom regarding my weight. She apologised eventually & told me she often insecure with the way she looks🙃 Overall, she is imperfect & yet a wonderful mother.

I felt that losing weight would make me happier but it made more miserable than I already was. I’m better now but one thing that bothers me is that people assume when people lose the weight their lives are improved and they are happy. If you develop an ed when you aren’t thin to begin with you are a success story. But if someone who is already skinny develops an ed they go to the hospital. Oof that was a very long vent sorry

I’ve had a lot of toxic friends in my life and it’s not worth the heartbreak. You’re worth more than you know and if they don’t see that than they aren’t worth your time. I’m sorry about my lack of advice, despite my long experience with toxic people I’m still not great at giving advice on how you should rid yourself of them. Yes, the parents are at fault for resulting in the kid being overweight. So by not shaming the kid, but supporting them in the process to lose weight, they will have a better relationship with health and fitness. So yes, it is necessary to have a healthy weight.

Agreed. It's the right thing for the wrong reasoning. People don't want to be shamed for being overweight and of course that is ok. No one should go through that. But to the person who said she doesn't have to worry about it at her age, she is wrong. She should be thinking about getting healthy as soon as possible because it will only get harder later and cause serious health concerns even at a young age.That should be the message, not what someone looks like in a clearly inappropriate dress.

@@RetroFuseable YEP! And it's true for woman, even if you carry any weight around your midsection your at higher risk for heart attacks and other heart problems! So these really huge plus size models they are like 1,000 pounds overweight who are 18-mid 20s..just wait they will die at 40. They have youth on their side and the human body always is healing itself, it is an amazing thing. it's working overtime, for people like that, and there no way to fix these really overweight people, they will die early, unless they seek help soon. But sadly when you have gotten that far even you do manage to be as thin as a rail! You will always be at risk and your body will be damaged. but cuz of this it will catch up to them when getting into their mid-30s/early 40s.

I feel like your kid should be a healthy weight, but you shouldn’t shame them Edit: hey y’all thanks for the likes. *This comment isn’t intended to fat shame, skinny shame etc anyone. My point is, its good to be healthy and society encourages unhealthy lifestyles. Lots of pro-fat people say to “LOVE YOURSELF!” But yet self love means self care. You need to take care of yourself or bad things are gonna happen lol. If being a healthy weight means being under, or over average, then thats fine. As long as you’re healthy. I’m from the Philippines, and people tend to be “smaller” there. They weigh less than the average American. But, they’re healthy. Some of you people are taking my statement the wrong way. Being overweight or underweight can lead to so many health issues (diabetes, heart disease, etc). That isn’t ok lol (Sorry for the long comment, I needed to clear some things)

It was all because my mom telling/dropping hints to me my whole life that I was over weight, putting me in sports, and just putting me down constantly (I was a perfectly healthy weight for my age and height). And then she would turn around and call me beautiful in public.. People constantly asked me if I was okay and my moms friends worried about me. I eventually quit and don’t talk to her much anymore. The sad part is, I thought it that was a normal mother-daughter relationship. It’s sad because we could’ve had a great relationship. Now of course, it’s my fault that I pushed her away. The daughter in the last video must be so lucky to have a mom like her (gray hoodie)!! We love women empowerment! I honestly felt insecure about my body yet sometimes I can sense my mom not liking how I look. And instead of hearing her motivation to eat healthier, I can’t hear anything but to “lose weight” or “if you have a body same like me, i can totally buy you a lot of trendy clothes” I know she’s right. But her being a mom, a provider, I never heard something about healthy eating and stuff. One time I ask her to help me lose weight, she says it’s not going to work out because I’ll eat a lot afterwards. Such a heartbreaking thing she said. But I feel happy watching this video knowing there are still good people out there. Bless their souls... and to YOU reading this, YOU ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERSON I’VE NEVER MET! Love you, you matter

My mom did this to me as a young girl, and it caused several eating disorders and body image issues in me and my siblings. It is SO wrong, I cannot even begin to describe. I'm 33 years old and healthy now, but I broke down in tears watching this. When we erode a child's self-esteem, we cause them to dislike themselves, which can lead to SO many things going wrong in their lifetime (i.e. thinking they aren't worthy of a good life, a good partner or friends so they tolerate people who mistreat them, and much more.)

I have been fat in my childhood and developed social anxiety and depression due to bullying because of it, but being auditioned as a fat child wouldn't have bothered me at all. Fat people are aware of being fat, being fat isn't the problem. But being treated badly or fat having a negative connotation is the problem. So if someone tells me neutrally that I am overweight or fat, that isn't any issue, as I know that I am. The next sentence isn't against you personally, because a lot of people think like this, so please don't be offended or ashamed or anything, as this is a general societal issue and not your fault, but your way of thinking is actually more hurtful, because you automatically connect fat with bad and insulting, instead of just a neutral, descriptive word, which actually makes people like me feel bad about their body.

@@buecherdrache1 yes I understand where you are coming from, but when I was a teen I was quite overweight. I personally feel that if I was in that girl’s position I would find that offensive, but again that is just my view on that.

@@buecherdrache1 Are you sure that "being fat is not problem"? In the beginning of her twenties, she will get a lot of serious health problems, and while she is lying on a bed in a hospital, a doctor will come and tell her "sorry, you have to lose the weights, otherwise, we cannot make your surgery." These people who encouraged her about loving shape and weight, they will never be in the hospital to support her. The child obesity is a real problem around the world, it is impossible for anyone to support it. The parents should be informed what is the child obesity and its healthy treatment including a psycholog, a doctor, and a dietician. The people on the video all of them are completely wrong.

the way the mother talked made me cry because this is probably exactly how my mom talks to me when it comes to what my body looks like, every time she talked about something like this to me she knows i would cry and get mad at me for "being too sensitive" and my sister would tell me "she's just trying to motivate you" but it still made me feel so insecure and like i'm not taking enough care of my body. when will she understand how painful these words are to me.
