What I love about this possible pairing is that it takes pressure off of Nathan to be anything other than who he is. He seems to struggle with the protective, town role model side of being a Mountie while enjoying the investigative, adventurous, freespirited side of being a Mountie. The first confines and intimidates him from what I have observed, while the other side challenges, excites and drives him. Everytime he's been put in a situation to oversee, protect, lead or even methodically follow orders, he's struggled both personally and professionally. But give him an outdoor, investigative adventure where no one is placing expectations on him or telling him what to do and he lights up. Remember how he interacted with Fiona in the train station when he was undercover? Bold, confident and shared some real chemistry. Mundane responsibility and day to day expectations seem to stifle him and make him appear needy and anti-social. It could definitely be because of his family up bringing that forced him into adult roles at an early age - first with his father's lifestyle and then later with his sister's death. This pairing looks like it will complement his adventurous side perfectly. Elizabeth's love of the arts, literature, education and culture would've been too much pressure for Nathan to become something he isn't. I think his character will really shine now that he is outside of Jack's memory, Lucas's shadow, Elizabeth's grief and his own guilt. It's going to be fun to watch!

Happy New Year, Roxanne and everyone! I’m surprised to see this possibility so soon for Nathan after it seemed like TPTB wanted to put it on the back burner for a while… but it will be interesting to see what unfolds and will hopefully be warmly accepted by Nathan’s army of fans if indeed she is his possible love interest! For me, I’m just enjoying dreaming about all the possibilities and speculating on where these sneak perks might take us!🙌❤️

It's a little early, but, it looks as if she sparks interest in Nathan! A fast, young and exotic woman has arrived in town... She intrigues him! I think he's interested! :)

Roxanne! What a great analysis. I also got major "meet-cute" vibes. Their dynamic seems very similar to the one we saw between Lucas & Elizabeth early on. Very flirty & fun. Mei seems to bring out the fun side of Nathan like Lucas does for Elizabeth. I really hope she is a love interest, because I am majorly shipping it. :)

I think it’s going to be like a delicious onion. Layer after layer will reveal the relationship. What’s even more exciting to me is when Mei meets Allie! They are both strong minded women and even when Nathan is at his wits end with her, he loves her spunk and she’s his everything…. So this will be so interesting!❤️🤗

Interesting observation! I enjoyed your chat with Amanda Wong, and I think she'll be a great addition to the cast. However, I'm not sure she'll be Nathan's new romantic interest in season 9. I think the producers of the show are eager to console the many unhappy "Team Nathan" fans, but I'll be surprised if they don't wait to measure fan reaction before investing too much in that pairing. It would be refreshing to see a more confident Nathan wooing the single ladies.....instead of the painfully shy and awkward Nathan we saw with Elizabeth. I wonder if that is how Kevin McGarry wants to play it?

I love this new character. Nathan never really lite up when he saw Elizabeth. And he knew she didn't light up for him either. So, I am excited for this new character because Nathan looks comfortable talking to her. She looks happy to be talking to him. I like the banter between them. We need another spicy couple in HV. I'm excited to see all the new storylines. S9 is going to be super exciting, I think!!!

I was also very intrigued by Mei Sou and I am very hopeful that she will be a romantic interest. I have seen Amanda Wong in some Hallmark movies and enjoy her very much. If she is to be Nathan's one and only, this decision gets a big 2 thumbs up from me!!! Happy New Year!!!

She reminds me of lucas when he first came into town. Mysterious and intriguing. Lucas use to answer questions very vaguely as well.

It looks like she will be his love interest however they may be testing the waters to see what fans reactions are. I do believe they were pointing to Faith at the end of season 8 but that was so badly received that they decided to bring in someone new so it all depends on the fans. I did think they would wait to give N someone because they wanted to show him getting over E. I know some time is supposed to have passed but, if he seems to be moving on too quickly, fans may revolt and say that it looks like he wasn’t really in love with E. However, I am just glad the triangle is over and we can ALL move on and am excited for the new possibilities. I also feel that Mei Sou is much more interesting than Faith so I am looking forward to seeing more of her.

It seems that Nathan and this new character may bound over horses. For Elizabeth and Lucas it was books. If she was riding fast she probably appreciate challenge so be prepare girl because Nathan is a tough nut to crack! I want to know more of her.

Of course, I also wonder if there is some kind of connection to the Pinkertons and what's going on at the cabin in the woods. Is she investigating something that Walden is involved in and does she have to make sure Nathan hasn't been drawn in by Walden before she confides in Nathan. One can let one's mind run wild.

I'm hoping that Mei Sou is someone intriguing to Nathan and that they show a decent amount of interaction between them in S9. Janice Greatorex brought up an interesting thought about Mei Sou being in Hope Valley to investigate what is going on with Wyman Walden and the Pinkertons and maybe she and Nathan have to work together once she knows she can trust him. I do see a spark between them just like E & L had in the first episode Lucas was introduced. Not sure yet where the writers are going with this story, but glad to hear that Nathan will have some good adventurous storylines and a possible new love interest. I don't think E & N had much in common, except for E's grief and N's guilt over Jack's death and hope to see a new relationship for Nathan that shows that contrast.

Lucas and Elizabeth will always be together. Nathan will find someone instantly I'm sure.

I don't think they'll pair them up right away, he's curious that's for sure but she seems confident, her reaction to Nathan's questions in small way reminded me of Lucas's when he came to HV( not sure who he could trust) could be coincidental or she has past issues keeping her onguard time will tell but her smile & direct eye contact seems genuine love that top she's wearing "Beautiful"

I am not convinced she is a love interest yet though I do agree she's going to give him a run for his money. My main hesitancy is the other BTS which shows a Thanksgiving scene where she is sitting with Faith and a shaven Nathan is sitting with Allie who is sitting next to Lucas. Interesting there. I would love it if she would be his love interest. Maybe Faith will become matchmaker? Nathan needs a strong lady friend who can challenge him in all the right ways. Mei Suo is very intriguing!

I'm wondering if the writers/producers wanted to placate TN by quickly giving them something interesting for Nathan. I think it would be exciting. I'm hoping TN will tune in to see what a great match the writers have developed for Nathan. We can have an all new TN that cheers on Nathan. I hope!!!

Oh yes they aren’t going to let Nathan grieve over Elizabeth very long are they? I’m sure she’s his new interest and the writers are smart to move fast on it.

This pairing will be great! Nathan needs a woman who will challenge him and draw him out of his comfort zone. As fans of WCTH, we need another fun to watch couple. I’m delighted to see a new character being brought in for Nathan. I was hoping they would not try to go with Faith or Fiona. I’m sorry to be loosing Clara and Jesse, so maybe this will take away some of the sting of that loss.
