I was thinking that the black eye and Lees disheveled appearance were related but that they were fighting together to defend the town in some way. Like maybe there was a big brawl and they both stepped in to stop it. I do think that, now that E and L are officially a couple and L is taking care of LJ, he is going to begin to be more prominently involved in town happenings and being one of the guys, more so than we have seen before. We saw a little of it last year with the bad joke and his talk with Carson but I really think Lucas is about to come into really being a part of the boys club and that a lot of hilarity may ensue.

I'm thinking also that it occurred totally accidentally. He stepped in between two in hand to hand disgruntled altercations and got 'socked'. O my. He didn't see it coming.

Hi! First, I wanted to say congrats on getting to 1,000 Subscribers! As far as the black eye is concerned, I'm thinking a fight of some sort... We haven't seen that from Lucas yet & personally I would find it more intriguing than if it were just an accident. I think it makes sense that Lucas would brush it off, just because he doesn't want Elizabeth to worry.

These were all interesting scenarios, but I like your #5 scenario the best . The way Lucas kind of brushes this off with Elizabeth makes you think it was not a" serious or dangerous confrontation" that led to the black eye. Just something where they were all playing around "like baseball " and a few minor accidents ocurred.

You forget, when Lucas returned to Hope Valley and went to Elizabeth's house to appologize for leaving so aburptly. He said he let his jealousy get to him. but another idea - I wonder if he was playing the Little Jack and something distracted Lucas just as LJ throws the ball and Lucas get popped in the eye. I think that whatever the scenario, Lucas wouldn't want to tell Elizabeth what happened. I think Joan's Robbins scenario is the most likely. Lucas tried to stop a fight and wound up getting the worst of it. I like Christine Palermo's thoughts, too. Oh my, I like Laura Haggith's idea,too. So many good ideas.

I think when Lucas decided not to sell the saloon to Walden it started a chain of events that will result in Lucas being threaten by Walden or even the mysterious Boss. Maybe the pinkertons gave him a beating on his way home after closing the saloon as a warning. I can see why Lucas would have a hard time telling Elizabeth about it since it was their break up that caused him to want to leave town and sell his Saloon. Or...... An old acquaintance of Lucas's comes to hopevalley and when he sees Lucas he greets him with a punch. This could be the start of Lucas's past being brought to the forefront.

At first, I thought maybe he got elbowed in the eye while playing with LJ. I have since then changed my mind. After seeing that Lee was disheveled, I am thinking that possibly Lee needed help at the lumber mill. Jesse is no longer there & Lee was in a bind. Maybe they were unloading lumber and lost control of the load. That would be when Lee gets dirty and Lucas gets hurt.

Nannette Spivey Here's my thought: Lucas did not make the boat but wanted to contribute so he painted it. He put a nail into it and attached it to a larger board to paint it. The paint is dry and he now has a hammer to remove the nail. Allie is walking towards him with the "gift" in her hand to thank him. She says "I've seen him with a hammer before this isn't going to end well". Lucas gets KONKED in the eye with the hammer. Allie gasps and runs over to him "Are you alright?". He smiles and holds up the nail and says "Yee of little faith". The gift is revealed, and she thanks him and she has accepted the current relationship. Lucas and Allie's connection continues. P.S. He requests she keeps this to herself!

I do think it will be something funny that he might be embarrassed to tell Elizabeth about. Maybe while doing a magic trick he accidentally hits himself in the eye with the baseball OR he might miss a catch thrown by Nathan, Lee or even Little Jack and he is embarrassed about that. If that’s it I would bet the guys won’t miss the opportunity to “tell” on him. Who knows!!!😂 I just can’t wait!! Thanks Roxanne!!

Great predictions but I wonder if it does have something to do with Walden and the Pinkertons. Perhaps Lee is being pressured to sell the lumber mill or to at least sell lumber to the person behind Walden and the Pinkertons and refuses to do so. I could definitely see Lucas standing up for Lee. Only time will tell but the wait is hard.

Ok I definitely think this has to do with something with all the guys because I also think it has to do with Lee and his appearance. I don’t think this is something he is embarrassed of. It’s something he doesn’t want her to worry about so it’s a macho thing.

Elizabeth popped him in the eye. She had invited him to a special dinner the night before and just as he entered the house Elizabeth was opening a bottle of champagne and the cork hit Lucas. She's touching his cheek the next evening because his eye had turned black and blue overnight.

Maybe because there had to be a recount of the mayor votes tempers are going to fly. My thought is because of an article Rosemary wrote in the Valley Voice, one of the candidate (thinking Bill) will feel like Lee is getting special treatment, and the two get into an argument, start swinging and Lucas pulls Lee away and Nathan pulls Bill away and he accidentally gets popped in the eye! 🤷

Love speculating! So my guess is that Lucas decided to make the boat for Jack but, we all heard Allie say she had seen him with a hammer and it is not going to end well….so my guess is self inflicted in a comedy of errors.

I think it involves baseball. Maybe a game. When Lucas winked at Elizabeth I felt he didn’t want to discuss it in front of Jack.. maybe it would make Jack feel bad.

While a like all of your predictions, I am thinking that maybe Lucas was buying lumber from Li, (to build the family house) and while they were trying to load it into the wagon, he accidentally got hurt with a little log 🪵 😜😁😍. Also, Li got dirty while helping Lucas with clearing out the location/land of the new home 🏡

My thought is that town is growing...new workers and increased traffic at Queen of Hearts. Possibly more altercations there involving him. This might worry E. Thinking Lucas trying to turn or maintain establishment into more sophisticated and family oriented place as we have seen it used in the past, but that becoming difficult. Think this could be the source of some friction and worry. For sure, Pinkerton are going to be around stirring things up and really curious who they work for.. thinking big time investor linked to Fiona makes an appearance and causes trouble for HV business men like Lucas and Lee.

I'm gonna go with your idea that something happens with a baseball/baseball game - possibly playing with LJ and then the other HV guys like Bill, Lee, and maybe Nathan get all competitive to show off in front of LJ and hilarity ensues due to their competitiveness and Lucas gets popped in the eye with the ball. That would also explain why Lee looks disheveled by maybe sliding into a base or something. In the picture of when Lucas arrives at Elizabeth's row house, she sees the black eye right away and he just says he walked into a door and winks at the same time. Did you notice the funny expression on LJ's face in that scene - maybe the guys told him not to say anything to the ladies about what happened because they will think they were being juvenile in their competition? I know the actor who plays LJ is young and might not have the acting chops yet for that, but it is a possibility. It could also explain why Lucas tries to just stop the conversation by saying he's fine and that they don't have time to discuss it because she needs to get to school. On the other hand, I don't think Lucas would want to lie in front of LJ either ,especially if LJ was a witness to those antics, so it could also be about the Pinkerton's or WW putting pressure on Lee and/or Lucas to sell or invest in whatever they are peddling and he doesn't want to talk about it in front of LJ or tell Elizabeth about it so she won't get worried? I'm remembering when Lucas gets on a horse early in S6 to go to protect his widow friend, Jeannete, in Cape Fullerton and Elizabeth sees him leaving the saloon and that he was carrying a gun. She asked if he would tell her what was going on, and he said no and that everything would be fine. Well, she came back to the saloon later on that night and got herself involved in that incident with Dixon, another Pinkerton, where she was being held hostage at gunpoint. Lucas certainly wouldn't want her to get involved again and get hurt or worse. I guess we'll just have to ponder a bit more till S9 comes! Loved all your ideas, Roxanne

I think since E was concerned and didn't know it was something about the Pinkertons in the saloon. Or possibly your 3 idea . I think it might be a reason why he lies to E and said he ran in a door because why would he lie around LJ maybe there's a reason for that.

Wondering what ur opinion is about whether or not Lucas still owns the saloon. None of the clips are showing him there and he seems to have time on his hands to watch little jack in the middle of the day more than once. Also when he says in one of the clips that he is looking forward to having time for all types of moments…. Wondering if he gave up the saloon or the oil company to make room and time for Elizabeth and Jack in his life as a priority. What do u think?

I also believe baseball was the setting for the black eye. I think maybe “the guys” were all trying to show off their expertise of the game to maybe LJ and maybe the younger boys. Lucas and Lee were trying to run and catch the same fly ball and they SMACKED!! into each other. Pride goeth before the fall😂. Telling the whole truth would ruin their baseball creds!😂😂
