I'm a police dispatcher. The reason why cops and us dispatchers do a LOT of dark humor is not that we are psychopaths, it's just sadly a coping mechanism that we developed for dealing with negativity everyday, dealing with dead people on the daily, suicides, homicides, etc. Cops are facing so much negativity on a daily basis that they NEED to dettach emotionally from all that negativity in a way (and that way is dark humor), or else they will sink in the depths of despair and depression. This is why they need an emotional shell at all times to shield them from that negativity, and the dettachment of emotions which can be perceived as, well yes.. psychopath behavior. I don't support the mocking of a dead person though (that's a bit over the top for me, but I've seen a lot of co-workers do it.) When you see and hear about dead people every day in the emergency field, it becomes normal, common. The truth is a sad and heartbreaking death of a person for you is just an ordinary day for them.

And I know you'll just try to delete my comment, but if you have the balls to not be such a coward, then I will say that something people like you never seem to be able to grasp is that in the *vast* majority of cases, if you don't break the law, then you won't have to deal with getting pulled over or otherwise have to deal with the cops. Mind blowing I know.

I saw the whole videos of Tony Timpa from each of the cops cams & it was horrible. That one held him down with all his weight on his lower back & shoulder, even after they thought he was asleep. He was begging for help & you could hear him gurgling. One asked if he was breathing & said his nose was buried in the ground. Then they said it was snoring. A paramedic showed up & didn't do anything (like telling the cop to get up) and he gave him a shot of something. Without checking vitals or anything to even see if he was alive. The cop was still holding him down during and after the shot & medic didn't say anything. Then they got him on the stretcher & he's dead. Told his mom different stories & years later she got to see the videos.

It is a simple math: when you have a duty and the sensation of impunity combined over an individual, the choice for the easier route is common. It takes unusual intelligence to avoid It - most people lack the necessary vision. It is easy to just think your criminal is a stubborn person rather than a person in need. To top it off, asymetry of strength furthers aggression: he would have half of the courage if he was dealing with Mike Tyson. In reality we are slightly more evolved apes, but still apes. Indeed. For everyone else the opposite is true. J: "Oh, we see you're a brown belt in BJJ, isn't it common to witness people being coked out or going unconscious in that sport?" From that point onwards it will be thoroughly established that you should/would have known how it looks when someone goes unconscious and that you most certainly understand that resting your bodyweight on someone else is a form of "gassing them out". Because you should/would have had experience in this field you will be judged HARSHLY. It's like with tax fraud, if you're a nobody with zero qualifications you can always claim that you didn't know and that you'll do the right thing going forward. You'll get a slap on the wrist, be required to repay the owed amount plus interest and MAYBE get a fine. Crazy that he just sat on the guy's back for a long time and none of the cops even had a thought that he could have died because of it. They were just joking around like it was nothing. Guy was having a reaction to a drug so I guarantee his heart was working overtime. Instead of helping him, what did they do? Just sat on him. With all of those grown cops around, he was definitely secured and wasn't going anywhere. They didn't need a cop kneeling on him like that. It doesnt take a doctor to know what happens when you sit on someones back for an extended period. Dude was handcuffed so he didnt have an arm or anything under him to kinda cushion himself from the officer so he could actually breath. Instead, the breath was slowly squeezed out of him. All of the officers should be held accountable and severely punished for negligent homicide. They were all guilty by association and by not speaking up telling the cop to get off the guy's back. Sometimes calling the police for help isn't the greatest idea. If anyone else did this, it'd be murder. The detectives would ask why you sat on him for so long when he was no longer a threat to himself or others. After lying motionless for awhile, why would you continue to kneel on him? Same with if we had to shoot someone to defend ourselves. If we put one or two extra bullets in a person while our adrenaline is running like crazy due to the fight or flight response because we are in fear for our life, they'd call it overkill even tho they weren't there to see the situation. You shoot until you feel like the threat is neutralized. Some people have been sentenced to life in prison for self defense cases all because of the fact the person pumped a couple of extra bullets in a person whether accidentally, if they needed a couple of extra rounds popped into the threat, or because they are in extreme fear. When the tables are turned, we've seen officer involved shootings where a person is advancing witn a knife and coming towards an officer(s) then the officer(s) end up shooting the person multiple times even when they are falling to the ground. If we want to use the same logic, depending on the circumstance, they only need to shoot someone with a knife once or twice before they fall, surrender, etc. Instead, the police will fire off an entire clip into a guy/girl with knife ensuring that the man/woman doesn't get to live to talk about it. The cops don't have to worry about it because internal affairs are basically police departments investigating themselves so they'll find no wrong doing. They should be held at higher standards than us. If a person has a firearm, than by all means, empty that clip if need be because all it takes is a split second for even a dying perp to fire off a round. Abolish qualified immunity, fire all of the tyrants, and train these people better. Its sad when a Barber needs 33% more training than a police officer does!!

Also it scares me that almost 100% of the time, the cops face little to no discipline. :( If anyone reads this comment, search up French police stop lady with a shotgun, she is in the street wielding the shotgun but the police still don't just gun her down, they talk & talk until they figure out a non violent way to solve the problem. It was 13 dollars worth of crap anyway, and you have people nowadays that are not old ladies with dementia and other complications yet they get away with BLATANTLY stealing right in front of people, All while security and police don't do SH** about it because they are in progressive states that pretty much allow that crap as long as it is under 1,000 dollars just look up the hundreds of videos showing it. Yet this little old lady with severe dementia not only has her shoulder broken but the cops laughed and ENJOYED doing it. You even hear him say get ready for the POP which is her Shoulder Tendons FU**ING SNAPING. I assume you are also a sick twisted person who enjoys seeing weaker helpless people get hurt as well. Poor Karen, having police not realize that you have dementia and having them injure and detain you without talking it out is down right bullcrap. Worst of all, bystanders tried to call out the aggressive behavior but were met with the "mind your own business".

The officer at the time had 0 knowledge of her having dementia. How was he supposed to know? You can imagine if he knew he'd approach differently. All he knew was there was a lady walking away from him and ignoring his commands, so he wanted to detain her with as little struggle as possible.
