To tell people the truth is love. Sin is sin. There is no where in the Bible that supports homosexuality in any faith. People who claim to be Christian need to read the Bible front to back. If the guests aren’t Christians they are not held to that standard. The disappointment comes from Andrew and Shawn being Christians and not addressing that they either agree with or disagree with this sin. It comes off as they do. Like I said, non believers are not held to the Bible standards and have free will to live as they choose. But if you are asking a Christian person what they believe, it’s directly from the Bible.

It is flat out wrong to encourage lifestyle choices that are against God's instructions. (Just like it would be to promote stealing, lying, sex outside of marriage, ...) If a person is truly following Jesus, as Shawn and Andrew have claimed and appeared to be thus far, we are called to speak the truth in love. To edify a habitual choice that God calls an abomination is WRONG. A person is for God, or they are not. One foot in the Word while the other is in the world fits into being 'lukewarm,' which God tells us He spits out. So ... NO. Encouraging this behavior is not okay. Imagine God's disappointment to have people who claim to follow Him begin to lift up such choices that He is clearly NOT for. As the Christian you say you are, please do not allow yourself to be deceived into believing this is what God wants. Pray about it.

Watching Danae & Mandy’s “love story” is both bitter and sweet for me. I identify with Danae’s mother because my identical twin sister left a heterosexual relationship for a homosexual one. She was in the homosexual lifestyle for 20 years. It was a extremely painful to watch my twin break away from her Christian upbringing to explore “spirituality” in gay affirming, universal churches that teach their followers to become their own inner Goddess; hell is a fictitious place; and all “good” people go to heaven or they get reincarnated, if they weren’t good enough to make it to paradise, the first round. Danae has been estranged from her mother for five years. And she has turned herself into a victim by stating that her mother’s religious upbringing and conversion therapy is what caused her the “trauma” that remains with her today. I don’t doubt that Danae has experienced emotional pain, self doubt, confusion, and self loathing given that her parents have responded to her adult choices very differently. Her Dad has embraced her choices, whereas her mother has rejected them. It is easy for me to see that Danae became “the boy that her father always wanted!” She imprinted on him, just like my twin sister imprinted on our father. What is most likely missing from Danae and Mandy’s story is the high probability that one or both have been sexually violated or assaulted by a male sometime during their earlier years. Statistics show an alarming percentage of lesbians and bisexual females were sexually assaulted. Sexual trauma then causes a psychological break - (an unconscious fear) of being in a relationship with (the same sex of the person) who sexually harmed them. In his book “Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth,”. Dr. Jeffrey Satinover discusses his research with identical twin sets (both male and female). Out of the 500 sets of identical twins 👯‍♂️ he studied, he did not find one set where both twins were gay. His reasoning is that both twins can not be in the same places, experiencing the same things, every minute of their lives. My twin was sexually assaulted in childhood (by neighbor boys) whereas, I was not. I do not understand why Danae has chosen to remain estranged from her mother. To do so, is to remove 50% of herself. Had my twin done this to me, I would have been devastated! While my twin was living a lifestyle that I could not affirm, I loved her unconditionally! I welcomed her and her partners into my home (with boundaries in place), and I never discussed my sister’s choices UNLESS she brought them up to me (which often times, she did). After my twin turned 50, she walked away from her sinful lifestyle, asked God for forgiveness, and re-dedicated her life to Jesus. The turning point for her was she was tired of receiving curses in her life, and no longer receiving blessings. She grew weary of carrying shame and not living in peace and contentment with God. Purposely removing yourself from family who love you, who spent many years nurturing and raising you is a sin! Specifically the sin of divisiveness. Satan wins when we divide ourselves into us/them. When we cannot tolerate someone else’s beliefs that does not line up with ours, the world 🌍 instructs us to cancel them. To go no contact, and to label them “toxic.@ My prayer 🙏 for Danae is to reestablish a connection with her mother. To set some ground rules on what is allowable topics and what is not. HATE is a three legged stool of Isolation, fear, and anger. Replace one of the legs with LOVE and the relationship has a chance of being restored. Doing nothing to this stool of hate, hurts yourself and the people who love you. Loving someone does not mean we have to approve all of their choices…..sometimes we have to agree to disagree.

To my fellow Christians: lead with empathy (as Mandie so beautifully says in the episode). If you'd like to know why there are some Christians who support gay marriage (and yes, we read our Bibles), and you are willing to approach this topic with an open mind, I highly recommend reading Torn by Justin Lee. You may not come to the same theological conclusions as he does, but you may come away with more empathy/kindness. To Mandie and Danae: thank you so much for being vulnerable and bravely sharing your story. Danae, I'm sorry for the religious trauma you've experienced and for the ongoing pain of estrangement...bravo for making choices that preserve your mental health and for doing the hard work in therapy. And it is clear that Mandie has been an incredible support. Shawn and Andrew, thank you, thank you, so much for this episode.

Andrew and Shawn read your Bible cover to cover. Telling the truth is love. We can not pick and choose what we agree with from the Bible. I do want to be clear, if these women are not Christians they have free will to live as they please. If they are Christian and you are Christians you are to lovingly tell them what the Bible says. If they ask what you believe you are to truthfully share what the Bible says. No where in scripture is homosexuality condoned. It is listed with all other sins.

But how is it judging? When as Christian’s we should all follow the Word of God and The Bible clearly states a homosexual marriage is wrong. How is it judging? It’s called holding people accountable. You can’t go through life only doing what ‘feels right.’ So you’re saying a person who killed someone else because it felt right, won’t be held accountable in court? Wrong. You’ll be held accountable for how you lived on this earth and simply put, this is not the Lord’s way. Put selfish desires away and follow Him. Be single if you want but turning to the same sex is a sin.

Displayed here, (as happens with most of us) there are parts of the Bible that are quoted and agreed with, yet Its instructions that point out 'straying' from God's Word are simply ignored. We are to love and care for one another, yet this does not mean promoting behavior that God defines as sinful and is against. He is against the SIN~ NOT the sinner. (Hard to believe it's possible, given our current deplorable state of being) The more we turn our back on our Creator, the progression of our despicable choices and subsequent consequences will prevail. The Bible tells us we reap what we sow. We will reap MORE than we've sewn LONG AFTER we sow. Thus, we are in a world of self destruction as live we in disobedience to God. this is really sad. we need to be loving towards all, as Christians. At the same time we can't condone "marriage" that is not marriage as God created. shawn and andrew are failing as Christians by condoning this. Mandie and Danae are precious souls from God and deserve all of the love and the truth of who God calls them to be. Tolerating sin is a grave disservice to both of them. We all have to pick up the crosses of the sins we fall for, and these women should be encouraged to pick up the cross of their disordered desires (we all have disordered desires) and strive for holiness in Jesus. Shawn and Andrew, please repent and do better. This is no longer family friendly content. Family was created by God with a man and a woman and their children. Whoa. 😦 This is an interesting conversation to listen to. It is brave to have such guests that open the floor to this discussion of controversy... Homosexuality. The fact that God is referenced and quoted here gives way to BOTH sides, and the 'not so comfortable' Truth should also be shared/ spoken of. God does not condone this lifestyle choice. Plain and simply. Straight or homosexual, there is a deep, individual relationship to be had with God. I'm thankful Danae is now in one with our Creator. He loves us even as the sinners we are, yet He does NOT love and approve of sinful choices we make. Making mistakes/ messing up is inevitable. He grants mercy and grace, and He forgives, over and over. It's choosing a lifestyle of habitually living in disregard of His instructions where the danger is prevalent. While we are to love everyone, this does not mean to edify behavior and choices that God says are an abomination, which He says towards the homosexual lifestyle. I hope that since you two chose to have these guests on, you will be open to going deeper in discussion about your faith and what you will promote on your channel. I am in no way indicating that homosexuals should not be welcome; I am simply saying that given your biblical beliefs that have been shared thus far, I hope you will be willing to get uncomfortable and go further with this topic. 💙

The vast majority want nothing more than to be able to live a life where their sexuality *isn’t* a topic of contention. If the hetero community, specifically extremely religious people, wouldn’t get up in arms when their sexuality was brought up, it would be no more an issue than heterosexuality. How many times have couples been on this podcast (or any other) and told the story of how they met and fell in love, etc.? No one says they’ve made their heterosexuality their identity! It’s a double standard. Your sexuality *is* part of your identity. Your relationship status *is* part of your identity. It’s similar to black people wanting to be able to use the same facilities as white people or wanting the same opportunities as white people. It’s similar to women wanting to be treated equally rather than being treated like property. Both groups were told to get back in their place and stop causing trouble. They just wanted to be equal and free and safe. I believe the same is true in the case of the LGBTQ+ community.

I appreciate that they aren't in your face about their lifestyle and wanting everyone to agree with it. They seem like really cool, kind people. With that said, having them on condones their lifestyle, and with yalls channel having faith incorporated, I find that disappointing since God's teaching on this is quite clear. It's not a worse sin than any other immoral behavior, but it is still wrong.

Everyone who speaks out on LGBTQ issues but ignores all of the other sins they witness their friends and fellow Christians commiting without pointing them all out and judging them just proves that it's really an issue with LGBTQ specifically.

@sunnyjohansen1958 I don't watch all their videos, so don't know which couples you may be referring to. When it's a same sex couple, it kind of stands out easily, whereas the other situations, I would have had to listen to each episode to gather that info. Are they discussing former behavior and have changed their paths now? If so, I commend that, but don't condone anyone who is living that way presently and on a podcast advertising it.

To all of you that seem so shocked and disappointed. I believe the clear message here is communication and love for another human. Face it this is the world that WE have allowed to be the acceptable norm. If you want to quote the Bible it says we should love and have compassion for all living things. No where does it say that we are the judge and that we should shame those with different lifestyles than the majority. They will answer for themselves at the pearly gates just like you and I. But if this couple, who doesn’t shove gay down anyone’s throat, could be an example for those that do and open their eyes how to live their lives just as quietly as the rest of us then more power. No where did they get praised for what they are but rather for who they are as they bring comedy back into this messed up world, show love and communication, that we scared disillusioned turn a blind eye republicans have become.

I partially agree with you, lrbyOCD. You've stated what God references.... We are not to condone what this twisted world now views as 'acceptable norms.' Doing so has brought us to our current plight. We are IN this world; not OF it. This means that WHILE we are accepting of others, it most certainly does NOT mean to approve what God is against. He is for loving one another, yet this does not mean condoning actions that He teaches are wrong. He is against lying. He is opposed to murder. He is against sex outside of marriage. He is not for homosexuality. He is against stealing. Just because many people do or don't live a certain way, it certainly doesn't change what God says is right.

Deceptive flattery leads people to believing certain choices are okay, which will bring devastating consequences.
