Andrew adores Shawn and everything he does and says online supports that. The gymnastic community is used to that kind of treatment by a spouse for our beloved athletes! Comments were made that sounded less than that, and people took offense because they only want Simone to be adored by her husband as Andrew adores Shawn. That being said, I agree that what we see online is a snapshot and not the whole picture. It is their marriage and people should not continue to interfere in such a disrespectful way. Obviously it’s hurting Simone, and if they really care about her they should stop.

I wish that we could see the side of gabby you have described. The problem is we watched her at the Olympics display some very interesting behaviour when it came to her team mates. Then after the Olympics we watched her essentially take part in victim blaming women online and young girls for sexual abuse. Then at this latest meet we had to watch again while she basically left the stadium and didnt continue to support her team. Regardless of the circumstances of why she left, there are probably valid reasons but she still displayed herself a certain way and that was interpreted how it was interpreted. And yes it was aj individual competition but the fact of the matter is these girls are put together to make a gold medal winning team, and i just wonder how gabby would fit into that team and be able to work with the other girls as a team when she seems so self centered. Im hoping that at champs this week we see a totally different side to her and more people can rally behind her, but im not holding my breath.

Someone who quits after 1 event isn’t Olympic material. She could have tried the other events. There are better contenders and I’m not holding my breath either but it is respectable to try your sport again after a decade

I like what you said about it will be figured out. I don’t have kids, but I like learning about family dynamics and structure and how to help kids of my friends. My sister did not have that mind set when she had her daughter 24 years ago. The Heartache they both went though dealing with the father untill he gave up on them and disappeared out his daughters life was hard to watch. He wasn’t willing to play the supportive role knowing all the mother’s time would be focused on the newborn. This story has a happy ending with my brother in law coming into the picture and is a wonderful father/husband. Counseling is a needed thing for most people and not enough people use it at this stage in their life. I like listening to you taking us on your life journeys. I’m learning so much life and family lessons from you both.

I know you think people are just injecting themselves in Simone’s marriage but what was out out on social media about her husband and words that came out of his mouth is why I believe people think he isn’t good enough for her. I think people don’t mean her harm, they simply think she doesn’t deserve him and deserves better. Is it their business, no of course not. But he made it everyone business with the way he responded to a question about his marriage to her. She is without a doubt one of the GOATS of gymnastics and people feel a sense of wanting to protect her because they love her.

Theyre not trolling Gabby. People are just not expecting her to make the team this late in the game, and her pulling out after one rotation doesn't give the appearance of loving the sport or fighting her way to the top. It makes me think of how she was in the stands at the 2016 games with a scowl on her face and a lack of sportsmanship towards her teammates. It's hard to cheer for her when she walks out like that.

idk if you read these, but i recently made a comment else ware that it makes me tear up a bit seeing someone like reese esponda be able to make a goofy "whoopsie" face after a wobble on beam or talk to her coach in high spirits right after her salute on her now famous "save queen" bars performance at core classics...thinking how if this were 10 or 15 years ago we probably would have seen fear in her eyes, dread on her face knowing marta was watching

Chow's approach regarding the whole "it's a competition against yourself" thing has an interesting effect. It means that you aren't LIMITED by your competition. In other words, if you know someone's got a 12 and you need a 12.1 to beat them, you're aiming for 12.1. But you may be capable of higher. Yet knowing what you have to make to beat them means you're pushing for juuuuuuust beyond them. When it's against yourself, you're pushing as far as you possibly can. You're not held back by the bar SOMEONE ELSE has set.

Shawn, LONG story short, going to Olympic Trials in 2008 saved my life. I had to go to a new eye doc to get new contacts in time for that trip to Philadelphia and he spotted something that literally over 2 dozen other doctors missed. Days prior to leaving for Trials I was diagnosed with a disease that I've since had 10 brain surgeries for and I live with brain tumor symptoms every moment of my life. I was 21 and that week of Trials I was awaiting confirmation of a life-altering diagnosis with no cure. Trials gave me a distraction and you were a big part of that. Your smile was contagious. Thank you! (PS - Andrew, my hometown team is Washington, family held season tickets for decades, and I am thrilled we were the team you got to play for! HTTR!)

Shawn, I completely agree with you when it comes to the public "weiging in" on althletes and celebrities romantic relationships and personal lives. Its just getting RIDICULOUS. Its quite simply, nobody's business except the people in the relationship. Taylor Swift actually brings this up in several songs on her new album, and a lot of the time she is basically telling her fans to "Duck off." Not all of them of course, just the more ridiculous ones. I hate that ANYONE possibly thinks this is okay. Andrew, I do agree with you on ignoring negative comments, I think that's a good general practice. But I think it was good Simone made a blanket statement this one time, so we all know how she feels about it. Sometimes people don't always realize just how toxic they are being, especially when they are online. The people were warned! I love hearing more about Chow and how he operated his gym, he was the biggest blessing for you, Shawn, and it makes me so happy!

The problem people have with Simone Biles husband is that he has talked about his athletic achievements as being greater than Simone's and Simone has then backed those opinions. People are upset that her husband believes he is better than her and they are even more upset that she has been convinced to feel the same way. It's one thing to support a healthy marriage and another thing to support a toxic marriage. If these are the types of things that are said in public, imagine the kinds of things that are said in private. Sure there are trolls, but I think there are a lot of people who believe they are being supportive of Simone by being unsupportive of her marriage.

I'm a huge NFL fan and never heard of him until he got involved with Simone. He was UNDRAFTED, signed with the Arizona Cardinals, never played a down in a game, then went to the Houston Texans, was on the practice squad most of the time there, then Green Bay, where he did get more playing time. BUT they didn't re-sign him, so he wasn't ALL That. Now he's a Chicago Bear. He's on his 4th team in 6 years. For him to strut around and boast his athletic capabilities and success compared to Simone is ridiculous.
@emiriwangy
@emiriwangy 10 сағат бұрын
The thing is he didn't say that his athletic achievements were greater than Simone's. He just said that he didn't know who she was before they went on a date. Everyone took that to mean something else rather than the fact that he literally didn't know her. I also don't know the name of every athlete there is out there so the fact that everyone constantly talks down on their marriage is so rude after she has consistently said you don't know what you are talking about and that he treats her like an queen.

Your channel came to me because of gymnastics. If y’all talk about different things, I don’t know. At first, I didn’t recognize you and was wondering how do you know so much about gymnastics. It would be great if yall somehow used your names as identifiers. I was happy to figure out who you were. I loved that commercial with your mom and you’re walking on your hands by the kitchen. That was so funny! On the serious side, you have to give people time to shake their heads and get used to the idea that a still competitive gymnast is married. We knew that when you are 20, it’s about age out time. puberty is postponed in a gymnast’s body (men and women’s,) so when you retire, that is when you date and get married. That’s very old school thinking and older people are still adjusting to that. A couple of other things that we ask patience for is letting us old school gymnasts get used to the fact that girls go to college on scholarship AND still are able to compete in the amateur sports. That won’t take too long to get used to, but you have to agree, we are in the infancy of that stage of competition. Other things that college gymnasts bring to the table that I’m not a fan of is their style changes. First, they are just wrapping up their hair on top of their heads like they just go out of bed, didn’t shower, are wearing their fuzzy house slippers and robe to go get the mail. EEK! When they do that, it seems like they have no self respect or respect for the judges or their fan base. I saw Simone’s hair like that and thought, oh, that’s not a good look. (I hated it on Nastia, too.) Then she was at a different meet with a simple ponytail and I respected her so much more! First impressions are so important. Next, they are bringing their college style of music with them to the amateur competitions. As a music educator and dance instructor (and former gymnast,) there is no musicality to what they bring to us. There is no depth in the musical selection, so there is no depth to the choreography, hence lower artistic impression scores. I believe the only one I see that I can’t wait to see her floor routine again is Shailese Jones. She will proudly represent the U.S. at the Olympic Games and I can’t wait to see how her floor routine grows. (I’ve always believed that Shannon M’s floor routine was far superior to Kim Z’s.) Pretty much anyone else… meh. 🫤 I am allowed to have my opinions just as much as competing gymnasts have the rights to choose whichever style of music they want, and I will support them. I wish they would postpone the college routines to the college of their choice and they will get their easy 10. (I see that quite a bit in college gymnastics. Too many 10’s. So many that they really don’t hold the same weight as they used to.) As for Gabby, I’ve seen footage of her practicing her new release sequence on the high bar and she nailed it each time!! I couldn’t wait to see her do it in competition, and then core happened. I was still so proud of her. I know she has it. I’ve seen it. But I don’t understand why she scratched the other events. (?) She is such a HISTORICAL figure and I admire everything she does. She has the talent to win medals at the Olympics. I pray she brings her confidence and strength with her and not let core hold her back. She’s gonna make the Olympics! I love her and my eyes will be glued to the tv set wearing a Gabby shirt!! (😢By the way… I don’t even know who Simone is married to. I heard y’all say some athlete. I hope she is as happy as she can be in her life!) Simone has the complete package to get gold AA this year, but she needs to keep her head in at all times so that she can stick her landings. I’m a little worried that she has learned bad habits by blowing off her bad landings, like she did at core. When Flo-Jo was sprinting, she didn’t stop running when she hit the tape. She knew she had to go THROUGH the tape and finish at the end of the track. I admired her mental mindset when it came to competitions. I’m not seeing Simone run through the tape. Thanks for letting me share some old timer’s thoughts! I wish you were still competing!

I would love you guys to hear the stories of Jesus in Islam, you’ll be happy to know how much Muslims/Islam love Jesus, Muslims also believe Bible is the book sent by God but there are alterations made over time by human beings as you know, so the word of God isn’t in its true form, it’s contaminated by erring human beings and the our Book, Quran has been preserved since more than 1400 years ago and we have the original word of God in its pure form. It is just a small book, which can be read in one day! Give it a try, you’ll be happy to see the true stories of Jesus, son of virgin Mary, and then when you read Bible, you can tell which texts have been changed over time and which are still in their pure form in Bible😊 Give it a shot, just for knowledge, we should learn about all religions, right?
