You are missing the news of the day. Stanford is talking to BIG. You have to include them in this conversation. They have the largest possibliliy to join BIG as it kinds of locks down ND. It’s looking for like a Stanford/FSU to BIG. While UNC, Clemson, UVA are looking for like an SEC bound.

Just because teams aren’t in the same Conferences anymore doesn’t mean they can’t maintain rivalries. Florida and Florida St. has done it. Clemson South Carolina, Iowa and Iowa St., Georgia Georgia Tech., Notre Dame and Michigan St, USC, Stanford, Michigan have done it. If every team plays 8 Conference games they can have one none Conference rivalry game, and three None Conference ad-hoc games make one required to be from another Power Conference.

You need to remember the Big 10’s strategy. They are trying to tap every major TV Market they can. Florida and Texas are two remaining very large ones they don’t have a footprint in. I can see Virginia as it helps with the Eastern Seaboard TV market, Florida St. is a no brainer as one of the major properties in Florida. North Carolina would fit in academically and filling out that Eastern seaboard. Notre Dame is the biggest fish still available because it draws the entire country. Even if significantly less than local schools.

There are a lot of mixing and matching involving the ACC, Big 10, Big XII and SEC. If there is a settlement or the ACC loses in Court there are only three things most people agree on. 1: BC and WF have no better landing spot. 2: The Big 10 and SEC will take ACC schools. 3: FSU to the Big 10. 1) The Big Ten and SEC have a handshake on splitting their top two teams interested in out of the ACC, thus, FSU to Big Ten and UNC to SEC. Additionally, the SEC likes flagship schools and only one per State if possible. 2) I would be shocked if the Big Ten took Virginia. It’s a mediocre at best football brand and football school. 3) Most talk had been about Clemson going to the Big Ten, and the SEC already has South Carolina 4) Miami has been in the talk a lot with Big Ten, good school and the population of South Florida and recruiting ground of South Florida. Lots of Midwest viewers of Big Ten schools in South Florida. 5) Latest rumor has Notre Dame, finally, joining but with Stanford joining. Other possibilities for the Big Ten might be Utah with Stanford and Notre Dame, and then the FSU, Clemson, Miami combo topping off at 24 total teams.
