Except that's not how the card works. It only triggers the token on CAST, not etb. In other words, if you flicker the wedding ring, you don't get to give a new player a token copy of it, meaning the board state has not changed in any way at all. If you were giving out wedding ring tokens with each flicker, you were straight up cheating my dude.

My preferred way to group hug is to see how many cards you can make everyone draw as fast as possible.Watching them go from thankful for an extra card each turn, to worried when they need to discard to hand size after every turn, to needing to kill me because they can survive drawing 20 more cards on my next turn. It is not mill I am giving them cards to play how nice of me

My group hug deck is korona the false god Step 1: cast korona Step 2: make the deal that no one can attack with, or kill korona Step 3: as soon as someone inevitably breaks this deal I proceed to gate keep and girl boss until the subject has been removed from the table

I loved my really bad "Multiverse War" deck. Basically, Karona with a bunch of Battles and "Oh, you attacked? Do it better". Basically, throwing violence into a catalytic converter and then sprucing it up under the guise of "Here, have an extra Commander everyone!"

My Kwain deck is one of my favorites 🐰 The idea is that I’m planning to go infinite and cast a symmetrical draw effect for a billion. Everyone, myself included, decks out and loses simultaneously. No tutors, minimal counter play, just an crapload of draw spells for everyone to dig for pieces as quickly as possible. I win when we all lose, and if you lose it’s not because I didn’t help you draw into your answers. I love it 😊

@@narkfly Commander is Gor Muldrak, Ampbiologist. With him, the goal is to make sure the opponent has as many Salamanders as possible, whether they want salamanders or not. You do this off his effect, which puts a 4/3 salamander into play of whoever has the least amount of creatures at the end of your turn. You can also forcable turn other creatures into Salamanders, with one of the best options being Isocron Specter imprinted with Standardize, which allows you to turn all creatures on the battlefield into Salamanders. The deck's win conditions are using Seedborn Muse and the aforementioned Isocron Specpter play to just keep everything on the board as Salamanders, and given how your commander gives you and all creatures you control protection from them, you can attack without fear. The next is using cards like Peer Pressure to steal all your opponents salamanders. This has been a lesson on how to group frog. You're welcome.

@@narkfly Not Particularly. I also run cultural exchange, and various other effects that allow me to trade my Salamanders for enemy creatures. Angular Lure Tortoise is another useful card, specially with the Seed born Muse and Isocron/Peer Preasure combo.

Pheldagriff is a top tier group hug commander he’s mad fun. You can also add a win condition by giving everyone hippos and either taking ‘em or having it ping them for damage

Since this comment I've bought the LOTR Elf precon and turned it into Cirdan group hug. (Read: on etb or attack, everyone vote a player in secret; each player draws for each vote they receive, if no votes, they cheat a permanent in) [Might not work for you, but 60+% at our table are variants of spell slinger] First off this boy has made more politic discussions in one game than our table has ever had, as the whole table if forced to "hand out weapons" and no one wants to king make. Then for some absolutely mad plays the Blue and green "Join forces" cards are in there (Each player may pay any amount of mana, the total mana is what each player draws/tutors into play basic lands.) The temptation cycle, Rite of flourishing, howling mine, Helm of Awakening for some kindness But then you might be wondering, how am I supposed to get ahead? Cards like Confounding connundrum. (Read: if an opponent has a land etb after their first, bounce it to hand)

My brother plays the last option with that exact commander, almost every game he uses it just goes absolutely balls to the wall and when that wall is finished being built he uses stuff like Reins of Power to make you pay for it.

King Kenrith had one of my favorite moments. I vowed to a friend that on a later turn, I would use his white ability (life gain) on him when he really needed it. A few turns later and I told him that I would need to break my promise and to be honest, he threw a bitch fit and demanded that I keep up my end. I reminded him that it was my WHITE ABILITY, that I was going to uphold and that he didn’t care. I told him fuck it and I played the card that prompted me to want to breaking my promise; Tainted Remedy. He was pissed, but he forgave me later. There’s a reason why my Kenrith deck was infamously nicknamed by my friends as “Monkey’s Paw.”

I play Yurlok for my group hug deck. Everybody is gonna be swimming in mana. We’re talking every nonbasic is a mountain that deals two to you when you tap it for 6 red mana, which taps all your other lands. Really fun time.

My favorite "group hug" is a budget marchesa deck I built. Centered around the vows, and soul link abilities, tenous truce abilities. It's fun to buff creatures but they can't attack me, and make people draw cards but can't do anything to me. I don't win very often, but it's real fun to see what kinds of things happen.

Made K&T Mario Party by accident once. The thought was to play a bunch of beneficial stuff for everyone it'll ramp up for big, flashy, quick games, and while it succeeded magnificently at points 1 and 2; 3 was a colossal failure. Turns out when you super charge the arms race, you end up with a very complicated cold war where no one can do anything for fear of mutually assured destruction.

Nice! I actually called mr bunny "Springtrap" when I got to know him because he's a rabbit who only seems trust worthy at first....then you realize he is nothing but trouble. My current Group Hug is actually Bill Ferny. I am obssessed with trying to break this commander despite there being only one good combo with Akroan War Horse I think? I'm more interested in Maskwood to either Kingmake or using a spell to retake control of all off them and win the game.

I made loot, the key to everything group hug. Because the key to everything is friendship. Loot is just a little guy that helps me find more group hug stuff to put into play and then I just watch the chaos unfold as everyone draws 8 cards a turn and their mana taps for 6 or more and finally mana pools don't empty between phases so you can just float all of your mana forever

I use the prismatic bridge as my commander and I just drop out creatures that allow my opponents to drop out cards just to see how chaotic the game can be. With lots of pillow fort just so they can't hit me with their new friends.

And if you want to come across as absolutely chaotic, try Zevlor from Baldur's Gate. With red for combat tricks, black for card draw, and blue for removals you can kingmaker anyone in colors they won't expect!

My favorite commander, who is a hug commander of sorts, is Rocco Street Chef. Everyone gets a little something, but you get a little more. And he doesnt just win the game himself, 1/1 counters and food just enable other cards to win the game.

I’m playing Kenrith as my group hug commander, black also gives some neat options like Abyssal Persecutor. No one can leave the game before we allow that and make them beg to stop feeding them resources. I also use this deck to teach people that free resources is a trap with Price of Knowledge when they have a ton of cards drawn with our help. And Kenrith ensures no one is off the game 😊
