All of these ships in the video were being judged by how good they were at being carriers. I interpreted it as you saying that the Lucrehulk isn't a carrier because of the amount of stuff it can carry. I was just trying to relate it to a real world factual example.

Dexter Nexus that ship was large enough to accomodate everything... You may as well replace the droid control module and the massive droid comm array (Which takes a big chunk of the ship) to replace them with life support modules and beds.

Eh, not from a strategic standpoint. Sure, a single Lucrehulk is powerful, but its hyperdrive is slow and it can only be in one point at once while costing a lot (also in maintenance). That means that a small fleet of Venators, costing about the same amount of resources, could be deployed to different points in a sector, quickly react to threats or opportunities, then band together to fight larger battles, while the Lucrehulk only does large battles well. It's just not versatile.

Adarsh lal That's what I mean. One planet. One location at once. That's what I mean with "strategic". A good strategist faces the enemy where he's weak, not face-on. A fleet of Venators could deploy fighters at ten places at once, destroy supply lines and depots, and entirely avoid the Lucrehulk until it runs out of fuel... Just as one example. Being fast and numerous opens up a lot of strategies that a single big ship doesn't have. The Lucrehulk is great ... For a small set of purposes. Huge battles are rare.

Yep, before "Movie" attack on the Death Star, Rebels tried to destroy it once, with pretty decent force of xwings launched from a Lucrehulk. TL;DR Poor tactics, they all died. Eckharts made a video on it! :D

Maybe this will happen, after the Han Solo-tragedy is forgotten, and something new will be realized that is set after the Clone Wars. I have always liked the idea that a TV show which is set in the timespan between Episode III and IV would be realized. I'm pretty sure that we had encountered several Warlords, remnants of the CIS, with equipment from the Clone Wars.

Can any wing of presumably ISDs be small, if just single one of them is considered as full line in Navy's order of battle? They would've rather detect huge object coming in hyperspace, launch fighters and then casually murder the shit out of the Lucrehulk. Why? Because they're at this time superior in ship-to-ship combat, and he's outdated "battleship" transformed from trade vessel. Rebels won't risk losing it, and won't add heavy guns to ship that absolutely shouldn't carry them. I would like to see rebel Lucrehulks, yes, but as mobile command centers and starfighter carriers, capable od quickly delivering whole squadrons to different parts of Galaxy. Pretty much like the real-world naval carriers. That would be dope, actually.

A nasty variation of the Venator as a battleship, would be to drop the carrier capacity and use the hanger space to store heavy missiles. Add extra launchers at the front so it can fire massive salvos and it could just rain continuous death upon enemy ships that could overwhelm defenses. The extra missiles wouldn't require extra reactor power like extra guns would, just feeding mechanisms to load missiles into tubes. The hanger doors could either be removed, or left there to confuse the enemy as to which version the ship was until it fired, especially if it was a simple modification of an existing Venator carrier and not a new purpose built frame from the ground up. Also using the Venator frame aids logistics and speeds development. Ther only issue is how expensive and difficult is it to make proton missiles? While now useless as a carrier, in a battlegroup it is a lethal ship killer, and with different missiles or torpedoes fitted in torpedo launchers, a good fighter killer as well.

@@nihluxler8823 welp, the venator sacrificed most of its firepower and probably reactors to have such a great number of fighters, thats why it is kinda under armed, but the Secutor did not do that as much as the Venator, also, it was an imperial design so they probably thought "yo having a carrier is great and all but... what if we just put more guns in it instead of fighters!"

MrAzkhare The fractalsponge version of the secutor has a 720 fighter complement and 43 heavy turbolasers (24 octuple, 6 twin, 13 quad) as well as three heavy ion cannon turrets, which make it roughly equivalent in term of firepower to 3-4 ISDs. The ship’s official stats just make no sense.

Honestly the venator was amazing. Really fast, great hyperdrive, huge carrying space, and it could hold its own in ship to ship and point defense

I'd give it to the Lucrehulk. It's twice the size, it has a lot more fighters, and it's a lot more durable. The only real advantage of the ISD is the fact that it's a dedicated warship, that has better forward firing angles thanks to the dagger shape.

Alright nice. I hadn't actually heard of the Empire's carrier, I assumed you were going to use the Quasar-class, which I probably would have put in last place anyways. Kind of surprising that the Rebels, with their reliance on starfighter superiority, wouldn't have a better carrier. Although it does kind of make sense, they wouldn't want to have all their starfighters situated in one ship, which could be destroyed. Instead, they spread them throughout the fleet, with whichever ships had hanger bays. One could even argue that since most of their starfighters had hyperdrives, a full-on carrier would be largely unnecessary.

The venator definitely fit that role while a lurcehulk is like a space station and not only that it carry a bunch of stuff beside starfigther while if you look at real life carrier only carry fighter, bomber, and torpedo plane now they carry transport and helicopters but if you want to carry stuff that transport stuff you use a amphibious transport dock or an amphibious assault ship that look like a carrier but only carry helicopters and two hovercraft or landing boat and none of these ship have good defense

Brent Schneck Munificent class frigate has a misleading name, it's pretty much a cruiser or heavy cruiser with its size and armament.

I'm going to assume you mean the "BIG ASS ION CANNONS" were those main guns on the front, they were actually TWO BIG HEAVY ASS TURBOLASER CANNONS. Also, the Munificent has weaponry called "Flak cannons" which just sounds deadly.

Not really, most of the weaponry in star wars is energy based (made of highly concentrated plasma). Flak cannons fire actual projectiles at a certain distance which then detonate and send shrapnel in all directions. They can cause massive damage to un shielded structures and ships.

They are very big if you compare them with the rest of the ship 2. In Episode 5 a Imperial Star destroyer hits the Falcon and deals damage In the battle where R2 got lost a Venator one-shot a munificent class frigate that had put all powers to the front deflector shields(and I'm talkin about a clone wars episode. Not about coruscant) So i think they don't many. But the ones they have are impressive

Sam dale tbh the Invisible hands shields were depleted over an entire days worth of fighting, and in the show you can figure out that the damage for ship lasers is relatively inconsistent and more to move the plot along. For instance in the Sky battle of quell, 4 Munificents defeated 3 Venators, but in the Battle between Anakins and Cad Banes fleet, 1 Venator absolutely obliterates 4 Munificents without so much as a scratch on itself.

Also I think the turbolaser are of a higher quality than other capital ships because it has less and was able to do what you already said.

Those 52 'lasers' seem closer to light turbolasers to me.

You actually see these laser cannons in the episode Death Trap, where they have the cadets use them to shoot at training targets.

Because they are good ships? The design allows them to be different and so if the Empire had the layout of one, they may not know another. The Shielding is the best, The Hull is fairly strong. They could match and defeat Imperial star destroyers. basically they are just good.

And the 52 'lasers' seem close to the 60 XX-9 turbolasers in scale of turret.

That superlaser from the Venator's hangar is a Clone Artillery in the ventral hangar. Those were put there by Anakin, and not standard at all.

Play Awakening of the Rebellion mod (Empire at War) and you get to use some Venators when playing as either Imperial or Rebel.

agreed, its definitely a very powerful, very flexible ship. the ability to carry BOTH a buttload of fighters and ground troops/armor/supplies make is so great. I think theres some flavor text highlighted in another one of these videos saying that a single lucrehulk (if thats how its spelled) can lock down an entire planet.

You really can't modify it to be better at both roles at the same time. Because it is supposed to be as good as it can be in both roles. The only thing I can think of to make it better at either task without impacting other other would be to re-arrange the turrets so that they make sense (which would increase forward/rear facing firepower). You could make an improved battleship version very easily though.

That's not even a close or fair match. A resurgent would annihilate the MC85. The MC85 is pitifully armed with 18 heavy turbolasers 18 heavy ion cannons, and 6 concussion missle launchers compared to the 1500+ turbolasers and ion cannons for the Resurgent. The superiority of X-Wings and A-Wings has little effect because of the PD system, the advances in the TIE line, and also because they aren't bombers, so won't actually do much. The Resistance's only bombers were carried by the Ninca, and they would've been shot down easily. The biggest advance is the shielding, which can cover its starfighters when leaving the hangar, but that also means starfighters can go under it, like we see in TLJ, making it even weaking to the 144 TIEs carried by the Resurgent

Jedi Archives To be fair the 1500+ weapons includes the Point defense cannons too (which would be most of that number), not just anti-capital ship level Turbolasers and Ion cannons. It out guns it, very true yes, but not to the degree that the numbers would seem to indicate on first pass. Still curious to see what Ecks would think of this match-up.

Also they had like 20 Munificent against the other 2 ISD. Also they had several Lucrehulks. That means Starfighter superiority. Not much the empire could do.

Kind of a stomp for United Koprulu if you include The Overmind(Free Overmind that isnt obsessed with uniting the purity of essence and the purity of form), The Damn thing is basically a flehsy A.I that gone rogue(and if it wasnt for the quick rush in trying to accomplish its mission it would've conquered the Koprulu sector without difficulty)

Yes, but thats pretty much its only weakness in this one. The Hunter is faster, more manuverable, has stronger weapons and at least equal shields. Also it has the higher advanced technology in terms of aiming computers.

Playing as the Republic, bloody scary whenever one of those things came out of hyperspace.

I actually prefer the Venator since in RaW it only takes 3 build cap,has that beam weapon we see in Episode 3,can go face to face with most ships in RaW ,not only does it carry a a decent number of fighters but compared the to the CIS they are of higher quality plus it's so much easier bringing Venators in from hyperspace to be as close as possible for a tight formation due to their rectangular/sword like shape.

I will agree that the Lucrehulk spam can be quite overwhelming in RaW but I don't speak from experience since I haven't really ran into the AI spamming in my worlds for some reason.

Looking at the official specs of the Gladiator, it was actually incredibly under-armed for a ship of its class. Pretty astonishing really. But whichever would make a better fight, right?

Generic Human that is the argument that is always brought up. it makes the flood pretty much a waste of time to suggest in a fight against most factions because it is incredibly overpowered.

The Protoss had a hard time with the Zerg, why would they fare any better against the Flood?

The reason I prompt this is because I think the Protoss are the best suited for fighting them, their weapons all burn targets, (pretty much) they fight infestation type enemies a lot, they have very very powerful incinerateing from orbit weapons, they can spread info pretty quick so the flood aren’t gonna take a place quick enough to stop a message from getting out, as relation to the Zerg remember what swann said “ if the Protoss wanted to rule the galaxy they could” now we have purifiers, interesting no doubt, as they would likely burn through the flood. The biggest thing however is they are the pure of form, not even a Abathur could find a way to infest them, so they might be like Chief or any other spartan and be resistant, meaning it takes a good deal of time to take over, and a lack of mouths means airborn won’t work. Finally we have Artanis, who would rally the other factions to join them against the parasite. I could think of 3 possible scenarios, one where flood invade Protoss only, one where Protoss attack a large flood controlled system, and have to kill the gravemind. And one where the flood invaded the entire Starcraft galaxy. I think they would be one of the few races to stand a chance, as the galaxy is smaller and flood can’t grow big without alerting everyone. They are perfect for fighting them, and they use a lot of independent mechs, meaning no mendicant bias situation. Also just saying, swarm hosts, cannons, siege tanks, colossus, pertition turrets, carriers, all I can say is goooooooood luck getting past those

Even with the First Order's incompetent generals, The sheer advancements in Technology and how good the Resurgent SDs were would secure them a victory
