Our dryer (this model) started a terrible screeching noise this morning, and I figured it was time to replace. It's Thanksgiving day, and nowhere was open, so I searched and found this video. You just saved me from $500-$800 dollars. I completely disassembled, removed TONS of lint, removed the wheels and pully and cleaned and greased. I would never have attempted without THIS video. It runs like brand new now. THANK YOU!!

This video just saved me $700. I was about to give up on our trusty old Kenmore gas dryer - and I decided to surf the net for the problem. I discovered this video on how to disassemble the dryer, and then replace the thermal fuse. It also allowed me to discover all the lint encased internally that caused the fuse to blow. My local appliance parts shop had the fuse in stock - a very common part - designed to shut the gas off before the lint ignites. The total repair took me 90 minutes - not complicated at all. I've also discovered I can find nearly all of the parts to fix my dryer on this site - and keep it running forever. Now my trusty Kenmore is ready for years more service. Maybe I can put that $700 in my new fishing boat kitty :-)

Thank you for having a video on disassembly on a dryer that closely matches mine(although not an exact match, it did help ). However, trying to put the belt back on is absolutely not as easy as they make it look, because they're doing it without the drum in, and without having to try to get your hands around the motor, doing it blindly no less.

I can not begin to tell you how much this video has helped me! Without trying to sound too melodramatic, this video (and a squeaky wheel) might have saved our lives! I have the gas model and every 5 or 6 months, the pulley starts to squeak. The first time it happened, I followed the instructions and was horrified to discover that the was a small tear in the gasket lining on the lint catcher causing the inside of the dryer to get COMPLETELY coated with a thick layer of lint. I was shocked that it had not caught fire. I cleaned everything up and oiled the pulley. I used the dryer a few times and checked to make sure that the gasket properly sealed. No issues since. I don't want to buy a new dryer, so I just take it apart and lubricate the pulley wheel when it starts to squeal. It only takes me about 15 or 20 minutes. Bottle of PB Blaster is $1.97 at Home Depot and a little bit of my time. Heck of a lot cheaper than a new dryer! Thanx again!!!

Repair Clinic to the rescue again. I've babied a 1994 Kenmore washer and dryer for years with your parts and videos. I usually do the repairs myself unless it requires some lifting I can't do then I get hubby to help. I'm sure the newer appliances are more energy efficient but I'm still trusting my old ones for everyday use.

I cannot tell you how helpful this was. I tried to take my dryer apart myself but without the confidence "you can pull here and not break something" or pry there... I was stuck. This saved me so much grief. Thank you. fortunately my problem was solved by just spraying some lubricant on the belt tensioner and the wheels that held the drum in place. Thanks.

Wonderfully helpful! You made it easy to replace the timer. Thank you so much. One warning to consider adding: Watch out for the little clips on the top panel. One of mine fell into the dryer. The same motion that reduces the pressure on the clip allowing one to open the top panel also loosens the clip from the top panel and it can fall into the hole in the main part of the dryer.
@janell3802
@janell3802 3 жыл бұрын
Same thing happened to me when I changed my timer. Clip fell in through the hole all the way to the bottom. This video showed me how easy it was to take the bottom front panel off to access the bottom where the clip fell down. This video is so helpful and Repair Clinic parts are reasonable .

If you have an older model, a few things may be different - the door switch wires may be separate connectors instead of all in one connector. The screws to remove the control panel may be behind the unit and the end caps may not need to be removed. The lint screen duct may be a separate piece from the upper front panel, so keep this in mind when removing. This video was very helpful to me in repairing one of the fins that had broken off the inside of the drum.
@lifeisjazz

This video was very helpful. I have a much older Kenmore model, but the design is basically the same. I only needed to replace the light socket and clean out the lint duct, but I didn't know where to start. The light socket part had been discontinued and replaced with a whirlpool socket, so I needed to get under the lid to access the wires. Watching this saved me a lot of frustration, the steps were very easy to follow. Thanks!

Watching this saved me about $200, I estimate. Putting the belt on isn't quite as quick & simple as they make it, but overall this is very accurate. Took me about 3 hours to change an idler pulley wheel, but I haven't taken this particular dryer apart before. I spent $20 on the idler wheel in Denver, CO. Not bad for a rookie. Thanks for the instructive video! This was a big help.

Great video! Had the light bulb in the back denigrate and had to fish it out. Required taking everything apart. Couldn't have done it without your video. I put it all back together and a voila! House didn't burn down! It was also a good chance to clean out some of the dust and lint that had accumulated. My only suggestion is that the two screws on top that hold the front were torx screws on my model. Also, you'll need a nut driver or socket for all of the little screws, except the ones on top.

None of the videos I've encountered showed how to take the top off my particular model (Whirlpool GGQ8811LW0). There are two screws at the back of the plastic end panels that have to be removed to be able to swing the control panel up and back, exposing the three hex-head sheet metal screws that must be removed to allow the top to be slid forward for removal. After that, the procedure is the same as with other models to replace the door switch or rollers or drive belt.

Great guide! I have the same model. Some helpful tips to save you 50 trips to the garage or shed. You will need: A putty knife, a skinny flat head screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a 1/4 nut driver, and a T20 Torx bit for the nut driver. You will also want to have a shop vac to suck out all of the built up lint in the lint screen cavity and on the blower fan blades. After removing the front door, there are 3 screws on the lint screen cage that can be removed to access the lint screen cavity.

This video was quite helpful. It could have been better if you had stated exactly where to insert the putty knife or screwdriver when gently forcing the top panel back or removing the bottom panel. Also that little "z" formation to hook the belt back up could have been better explained. But all in all, with a lot of rewinding and fast forwarding, we got it done and saved a lot of money.

Very helpful, is there one that shows how to deal with a drier which has a drum that takes up all the space? I can't figure out how to thread the belt around the drum and the drive since it is below and not behind the drum.

Great video, especially with the safety tips, although I still managed to cut my hand when removing the front panel (my own fault).

So this is the only way to access the thermal fuse by the dryer vent in the back?

@:53 I CANNOT get the front panel off!! A little closer view of how those tabs work would have been much more helpful. I have been prying on this thing for about 20 minutes.

AWESOME VIDEO....however I am not sure with my dryer, I have a broken belt for sure but I would think that once it is disassembled and try to run it the motor should run OR NOT ??? because there is no door and that engages a switch ??

RENEGADEPETIE There should be a door switch that will need to engaged for the motor to run.
