I bet the script is intentionally written to make the White man look bad and make the Female violinist look good, forced feminism be like. The dialogue is too much like those "cliche modern hollywood, boy vs gal" dialouge, as if that's the modern script writing meta. The visual effects is, err "zoomer-like" idk how to describe it other than relating it to what most zoomers do [unlike me], so much smoke as if it's an anime, and cliche night setting. The plot is stupid, like why complain/fight when you can just perform 5 meters apart (oh wait, they don't understand metric) or just go to a different restaurant, its so simple. And the ending is too predictable, like everyone expected them to play together and "work well together". I can't critique this anymore -_- Luckily I didn't watch the remaining 2/3 of the video in the past, and its better to react to it with these guys ;)

As a guitar player, I just have to say that his fake guitar playing was at least as cringe as her fake violin playing. Also that's not what an acoustic guitar sounds like through an amp, and if a musician was actually prepared to destroy someone else's instrument, they would likely also be prepared to just skip it and strangle them.
@biglawturbo6703

Lmao, I had guitar lessons for just a few days then I quit _(because I decided I want to play the piano, yet I quit that as well after a few weeks),_ but gosh, I cringed so hard when I saw his fake strumming. I think faking playing the guitar is more recognisable since the violin isn't as widely shown correctly in mainstream media. Also, if I had an instrument or any object I treasure being held against me, I'd lowkey lunge for either that object or _(if it's too precious to be damaged)_ I'd violently grab the person and basically fight to death for it.

I actually met the actress playing the violin irl. She can actually play the violin, although she doesn't play professionally. And it's not her fault; she was mad about how they handled the sound too. They mixed it weird, didn't sync it properly, and decided to use clips of her air bowing. Personally, I'd blame the director and editor. Fiona is a great actress (and stunt performer), and she's much more capable on the violin than the video makes her out to be.

@@kiiturii A lot of people who want to pursue a career as actors have to take low quality acting jobs like this in the beginning. They may not want to, but they don't have any other options. It's not like the girl was given the option of acting in the biggest Hollywood film of the year and she turned it down to work in this. She took the job because she likely needed the money, and every actor has to start somewhere. You can't blame actors for the quality of writing, and you certainly shouldn't shame artists of any kind for having to take a job that isn't ideal. Plus, she was probably hoping the production team would listen to her since she has musical training. There is nothing wrong with placing blame where it is due, which is on the writing and production team.

One point I would like to make, when you brought up that this must be a show for kids? As a parent of a 3-yr old, I hope no parents out there let their little, little kids (younger than maybe 8?) watch these types of shows that exhibit characters (ESPECIALLY adults) behaving this badly with each other, even if they do resolve it in the end. From parenting my son and talking to his teachers, I can tell you, modelling GOOD behavior is the MOST effective teaching method. The amount of time that your kid would be watching poor behavior between these adults (21 minutes) vs the amount of time that they are seeing them behave nicely and getting along with each other (1 minute at most), it doesn't net out in good behavior's favor. That's all I'm saying. Ok, byeee

Okay, maybe I don't need to say this because nearly everyone here is a musician (or at least understands musicians) but the whole "musical rivalry" thing is complete bull excrement. I've seen story after story written by non-musicians that use the same trope, and it's exasperating. Musicians make music together. It's what we do. Even soloists play with other musicians. When two musicians meet in the same venue, they don't fight. They listen to each other. And if their skills are compatible, they'll jam together. There are a thousand things wrong with this video the guys reviewed, but the basic premise is so wrong, even if the rest of it was right, it wouldn't work. I adore TwoSet, but even watching that video second-hand through their eyes makes me want to scrub my brain afterwards.

Honestly, art is subjective to some degree but someone in the right mind would know that dhar mann's script are just awful, he doesn't have experience nor talent with writing a good script that people would like, a real artist would know that you shouldn't make a character 100% evil and another 100% good, that makes everything so unrealistic, not to mention he had to interact with musicians to see how they behave, making sure that it would look right to everyone. The guitar dude tried his best to be rude with no regards of shame, often when someone does that, he doesn't go far, just a bad first impression and a not so great personality.

I thought he purposefully did it until I watched him talking and saw his behaviour, which made me decide that it is just luck, he talks to his audience as if they are children, meaning they probably are, children won't care about quality of art. Thank you for bringing up that Classical musicians have to practice resonance and projection specifically!! It's true of singing opera versus other genres to music, too-because music theatre and pop artists use microphones most of the time, but opera singers usually don't, so part of training is leaning how to to healthily communicate your sound to the whole performance space on your own. I used to be an opera singer, so it's always cool to see how my experiences/training overlap with those of instrumental musicians!
