Not gonna lie, the social stigma around classical music is one of the reasons I stopped singing. I was a classically trained coloratura soprano and outside of my vocal coach everyone else thought I was the cartoon self-absorbed diva just because of my vocal range.
@ViolinValia

Never stop being YOU, honey! Looking at the horrendous stupidity and lack of taste in the world, do you really think those people's opinions carry any weight? I'm a soprano, and I say don't quit just because everyone else is being a jerk. There are plenty of people who would *love* to hear you sing with such a range. It's not nice to disrespect something like that, especially when you're not just disrespecting *a* person, but disrespecting an entire genre of music, along with pretty much everyone who plays it or participates in it. Maybe that's a little too much, but it definitely felt like they're trying to make the entire classical genre seem boring at the very least, and that's already enough to anger more than just a few people.

Thelaretus that’s also true for any style of music. If you buy a deep purple best of record then you don’t need another one. Same for the Beatles, Michael Jackson etc. (Of course il not talking about the ones that have only one hit and we’re then sent into oblivion)

8:01 I cake back to watch this after our school had a talent show. Two students played classical piano, and I remember the crowed was cheering at the top of their lungs. They got elected to the finals (so did I) but the crowd (mostly made up of friends and family of the contestants) had to vote. So it wasn't the fairest wins for some of us. But I loved the classical music appreciation.

He wants to put on a good show which is completely understandable, however, the PIANO DIDNT DO ANYTHING FLIPPIN WRONG 3. When I was in high school I went to one of the AGT audition shows. A LOT of scripting is involved. Before and after contestants come on stage the director has the audience film several different reactions they can use in editing. ie: all the girls stand up and scream, now the men whistle and hoot, everyone Boo, everyone say “aww” etc.

I was born into a loving family but then the hospital burned down 5 seconds after I was born and my family died, so I ended up in a corrupt orphanage where I got cancer and When I was 3 I was stolen by kidnappers and taken to Mexico where I worked in a sweatshop, and I was there until I was 7 when I found a guitar one day so I practiced the guitar every day after my 20 hour shift in the sweatshops and I've been doing that for the past 6 years. I finally got enough money to buy my freedom out of the sweatshop where I came here to America's got talent to put my guitar skills out into the world. at the start of the video they made the statement that Woodland players like me work very hard to hide their breath and hold it and that is very true. We do work very hard once my music teacher made us do a lesson about controlled breathing basically where we didn’t put all our air through the instrument and didn’t slouch instead hold air in your stomach. and we had to hold our breath for 50 measures as practice and it was hard. I play clarinet and I feel like I learned well many people learned that if you just keep trying, you can do it when we were doing the 50 measures. Many people instead of blowing all the air during the first five measures we played soft, barely put any air. but enough, so the first guy with the flute took so many breaths, especially for a teacher that’s what they want kids to stop doing when they first start so

Before ANY of the acts audition in front of the audience, the production comes out and tells the audience: standing ovation on 1, 2, 3. now, everybody look up and look surprised/scared. Now, act bored. Then they pick some audience members for the close-up shots of people yawning, laughing, etc. (without anybody on stage.) They do the same with judge dramatic reactions. THEN, the auditions begin and you find out why you were looking up scared/surprised... there's an act with a guy doing aerial stuff. I left after the second audition.

Hey guys, I've been to a live episode of AGT before and I wanna let you know that the audience reaction is totally fake. In fact, before the show even started, they pre recorded all of us making various fake reactions to things. They would say "ok now look surprised" "Okay, now clap". So everything you're mad at in this video could just be all the editor's fault and none of it actually happened how it looks like it happened.

I kind of liked the Italian guy. He showcased two talents. He dances nicely and he can play the piano at least on some level. Making a show combining both talents into one show is a way to effectively present both talents to talent agents etc. who might be looking for dancers or piano players. His show would obviously not attract people looking for orchestral concert pianists but there are other jobs for pianists too. Bands, high-end hotel lounges with a lounge musician, weddings etc. Playing classical music shows that he has some classical piano training, which indicates that he has at least some basic skills like reading music (not all rock'n'roll greats knew how to read music, they just knew how to play). Mixing the dancing together with his classical piano indicates that he is open for other kind of repertoire than just classical as well. It was smart marketing of him in that sense. He had limited time for exposing his talents for the whole America to see and he took maximum advantage of his opportunity. And he did it without needing to resort to stripping. Ok, he took his jacket off, but that was because the jacket would have gotten in the way of his dancing. I bet he got some job opportunities based on his performance.

Idk if you're aware of just how depressingly mainstream the piece he chose to showcase was... It was literally the 3 most famous (and easiest) lines from Für Elise - you could not be less interesting if you tried. And he didn't play them particularly well, he just hit the notes. And you don't even need to sight-read for that! There are about a trillion tutorials for that piece on KZfaq, simply piano and idk what else that show you where to press Now the dancing sure, it was pretty cool, why not But the stool... No musician kicks over any piece of their instrument, even the seat Nah overall he showed : ok dance moves, the piano skills of someone who started a year ago, disrespect for his instrument Not particularly glorious

im a beginner flutist, so here’s my opinion on the first guy: • why is he holding it like that, just hold it up, it’s not that hard • he’s breathing in all the wrong places (and he’s making it very obvious) • there was no need to strip, he just needed to find some way to “save” his performance • *TUNE. YOUR. FLUTE.* • my dude didn’t even play his Bb scale correctly • when the two of them started playing together... *my ears bled out* • if this guy is your teacher (as he stated in the beginning) get a new teacher.
