See inside a Profitec Pro 700 espresso machine with cutaway components. It's an espresso geek's dream come true! Todd from WholeLatteLove.com takes you on a tour of the machine with all components cut open to reveal how they function internally. Watch as he traces the water flow through the machine from entry to exit including a cutaway E61 group. Special thanks to our friends at Profitec for providing the cutaway machine for this video.

This is basically the best in-depth video that showcases the brilliant engineering and design by Profitec. All a salesman need to do is compare this to any other competing espresso machine with a cutaway to close the deal.

Hi Bruno, Thanks for your comment! The Pro 700 does not disappoint! Not to throw a wrinkle into your decision, but as mentioned elsewhere in the comments you owe to yourself to check out the ECM Synchronika as well. The internals are essentially identical to the Pro 700 but it comes with some added touches to the exterior, an included tamper and an innovative case design. Watching Todd demonstrate the build quality on the PROFITEC is the best sales pitch I've ever heard. On first view I knew what machine I would purchase...A done deal. Just dragging my feet over the cost but continue to gather information. Your videos have been outstanding! I'm leaning towards the next model up. For 200 dollars extra, it's a nice upgrade.

Hi Rick, Thanks for the kind comments., Todd does know his espresso machines! He's likely been inside more machines than anyone in the US. Guessing you're considering the ECM Synchronika? It is a fine upgrade for another 200. The machines are essentially identical on the inside. The ECM is more refined in the exterior finish detail, has angled PF and includes a quality tamper. ECM also has a unique outer case which allows for quick/easy panel removal. One last difference are the steam and hot water valves. Both machines utilize low wear sprung valves with the ECM's operated with levers and the PP700 using knobs. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Whole Latte Love I do have a question on the 300 model. What's with the steam boiler pressure guage over showing brew pressure which I find more useful. The 300 is really all I need but lack of showing brew pressure makes it a no buy for me. I'm down to drinking just amercanos with my second BDB which is on its last legs. Will eventually rebuild it as a project but I want a new machine now. The fit & finish on the Synchronika is stunning!

Hi Blues, Profitec machines are well put together! If you like the Pro 700, be sure and check out the ECM Synchronika if you have not already. It's nearly identical to the Pro 700 internals and specs. For a couple hundred more $$ it adds another level of refinement. Things like: extra detail finishes on the E61that match with lever and PF handles, angled PFs, included bottomless PF, matching logo etched tamper, silvered PID display and a truly innovative case design. I really like the Pro 700 and if I were to get a dual boiler I will get the Pro 700. My only wish is they would relocate those pressure gauges on the top section.. This machine has plenty of room upstairs after seeing the interior of this machine, then and only then I will seriously purchase one. I must have watched this video a dozen times. I like Todd for being so humble and you as professional guide. Your videos set you guys way ahead of your competition, who is insulting and offensive to the viewers.

Hi Ricardo, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. If you must have the gauges up top take a look at the ECM Synchronika. It's essentially identical to the Pro 700 internally. While the Pro 700 has excellent quality finishing and details the Synchronika takes it a step further with a custom taper of the E61 group head, upgraded trim accents, angled portafilters, joystick valve operation and the gauges up top! Great video! I'm curious about the brew boiler. It looks like it had a water level sensing probe much like the steam boiler. How are the water reaching the input to the water siphoning system to the brew group? That input was at the very top of the brew boiler while I think the water sensing probe was at least a couple of cm below the top of the boiler?
@lordkubikum
@lordkubikum Жыл бұрын
I am no expert but from what i understand the brew boiler is always full of water so it can build pressure with the pump. The steam does not require the pump to build pressure, just heat so it needs a head room to build the steam.

Hi Omar, Great Question! The white cylinder is a capacitor. It temporarily stores electrical energy. The capacitor in US model Pro 700s is larger and in a different location than EU machine shown in this video. On the sound... would have to hear it but could just be the pump winding down or perhaps a solenoid closing.

Hi na, You are welcome and thanks for watching and your kind comments! I do have a video on how to descale espresso machines with heat-exchange boilers: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r6t3mdx70L23oYk.html The Profitec Pro 700 shown in this video is a dual boiler espresso machine. Most manufacturers recommend dual boiler machines be descaled by a professional machine technician. Those with proper skills can descale a dual boiler machine. It's more difficult and risky as dislodging scale in a neglected dual boiler machine during descaling may cause obstructions in other parts of the machine. It's also difficult to thoroughly rinse dual boilers after descaling. Best practice for dual boiler machines is to use water that does not cause scale in the first place. Here's a video featuring filtering products that maintain the mineral level needed for good espresso extractions but will not cause scale in a machine when used as directed: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9xpirZ6vdrUn6c.html Hope that helps! Great video, can you do a video on what kind of water to put into an espresso machine?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrey, We've done a few videos on source water for brewing espresso. I'll link to some info below. One might logically assume the purest water possible like distilled or RO treated would be best. Turns out that's not the case. You want some mineral content in the water (but not too much) otherwise taste tends to be very flat. I like to think of it like salt on food. A little helps bring out flavor and too much is unhealthy. For espresso machines high mineral levels cause scale to build up. For Prosumer level machines like the Profitec Pro 700 in this video which are plumbed in we recommend a high quality external in-line water filter like this one: www.wholelattelove.com/products/bwt-bestmax-premium-filter-package The Bestmax premium filter is a multi-stage filter so removes particulate matter and chlorine. Its unique feature is removal of scale causing minerals which are then replaced with magnesium. Magnesium maintains flavor but does not cause scaling. The Pro 700 is a great machine but another major determining factor in deciding on a machine is parts availability. Won't the water from the brew boiler get colder as the pump creates pressure by pumping in cold water from the mains. I ask because the Izzo Alex Duetto IV has the water from the pump going through the steam boiler so when it hits the brew boiler there temp difference is lower than the direct method. It looks like the in and out are both in the top of the boiler in close proximity. I would be disappointed to see a temp drop while brewing as I am buying this machine to get stable brew temp and not have to flush so much...
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Esben, When you brew a shot the refill water will cool the boiler momentarily. But it recovers very quickly. Remember you are only using about 2oz/60ml of water. The boiler and other components have a large thermal mass which helps to heat that water and stabilize temperature. And, with PID control the heating coils within the boiler activate in short burst to quickly get back to set temperature. So long as the machine is fully warmed up the boiler will be back to PID set temp before you can grind, tamp and load for the next shot. As you mention, there are machines which use a heat-exchanger in the steam boiler to pre-heat fill water for the brew boiler. Another machine like that is the Expobar Brewtus. This works well but you do run the risk of overheating the brew boiler if doing many shots back to back. It's easier, faster and more accurate to heat a brew boiler with PID and arrive at preset temperature than it is to cool it down if it's overheated.
