How many blocks are in Minecraft? Ten, twenty, one hundred, one thousand? I've run the numbers, and it's actually 16,851! Why is this? It all comes down to a then- new Minecraft Snapshot which changed everything about the game! You might have never heard about it!

BTW: If anyone wants to know how to get to the debug world, when creating a new world, press [shift] while clicking the world type until it says [debug]. This is a Java only feature

I still think the flattening could have been done better. Worlds are a lot larger and load a lot slower thanks to the fact that text is a lot harder for computers to store than numbers. Just increasing the max number from 256 to something like 2,147,483,647 would have solved the problem without causing extra lag... oh welll.

why can't fluids be made a different thing from blocks, that way we could get rid of waterlogging entirely and anything could be waterlogging

Hang on... In bedrock you can combine dyes in a cauldron and there's literally thousands of combinations. Given you use that technique to dye leather armour, and you count different colours as different blocks, I think there are quite a lot more than the amount you stated in the video...

the problem is that he counted all the block variants and stuff like waterlogs as seprate blocks. plank stairs are a block but waterlogged plank stairs is just a variant (not different block just block with water)

thats NBT data, so it doesn’t count as a new block just like how theres not all the different combinations of items in a chest

certain blocks have a waterlogged block state that can be true or false. which means waterlog is block state. blockstate is not block
