I think part’s 4 art style really fits the mood of the story, it’s much more juvenile and you can really feel that Josuke and his friends are high school kids; as much as I love Jotaro and Kakyoin they really didn’t seem like teenagers to me (even if they wore a school uniform most of the time).

I loved part 1-3's art styles. I've watched all parts so far and I'm quite excited for part 6 (one of these days I'll pick up the manga). But the change in style is very off-putting. Like you went from muscular badass to scrawny, lol. Of course I understand that Josuke and Giorno are kids and Jotaro should not be that swol at 17. But like damn. The design was rough and gritty. One of the reasons why I loved it so much. It felt like watching a different anime.

I think what's off putting is how they handled it, it just feels sudden and unnatural to just automatically switch artstyle, instead of just naturally change it progressively like the manga, some people say this would look inconsistent, but other series like One Piece or Bleach had done that kind of natural art style change rather than switching over.

@@crystalalumina It's very difficult to do a gradual change, though. All of the art the entire studio would make would have to change throughout each episode, and that's incredibly difficult to coordinate for an entire studio of people working together. There's even the problem of agreeing on artstyle changes between the production team throughout the season, and I just don't see it happening.

There's nothing wrong with the art style of part 4 and so on, there's just something right about the art style of jojo parts 1-3

I have a theroy. It all has to do with the curse of the joestar bloodline. Speedwagon mentioned during Joseph's battle with kars . That the joestar man Jonathan's father George ,johnathan himslef and Jonathan's son George all died young and while battling some threat. I believe that this cycle was supposed to continue. I believe that after defeating kars Joseph was not supposed to survive the fall . The bloodline would still technically carry on but through lisa lisa having another child or just end altogether. By of course by being the immortal being that he is Joseph lived. By surviving were he shouldn't have Joseph disrupted the curse and reality. In short thanks to the joestar curse two jojo's should not exist/fight together in the same time period. Hence why when jotaro kujo came in there was the first change in the art style/reality itself. The presence of two jojo's being together in the same time period changes reality. Keep in mind part one and two hand the same style because there was only one jojo at that given time. Even part one . There's kinda a more fantasized color scheme. More bright and flashy and johnathan and George both had blue hair. But in part four it's much more realistic,with exception of the pillar men nothing seems flashy or desorted . Because it was one jojo Joseph. Oh and erina and lisa lisa don't count since there not really descendents of the bloodline. Anyway this is why in part four everything seems way more stylized. With the different colors shapes and overall style . Because josuke was born not just two ,but three jojo's at the same time warped reality yet a again however this time since so many jojo's were alive at once it was more distorted. Keep in mind even tho it was more stylized and fantasized. Part three still hand that realistic ish look. Thus why the series started to look a little more like part 3 in part 5 . But hey that's just a theroy a film theory.

part 4 artstyle is the most stylish, which fits the new plot perfectly, since it is by itself a lot different from "buff dudes fighting each other until bones are broken" the way the town looks with all the weird vivid colors actually results in an environment that's fun to the eye and doesn't get stale, since all of part 4 happens in the same small town part 4 is the best and I actually enjoyed its artstyle quite a lot

I’m not going to lie I like stardust crusaders and diamond is unbreakable art styles the most I like stardust crusaders cause of the manliness and the rough edges of the crosshatching with chiseled detailed faces but as a cartoonist I also like diamond is unbreakable a lot because of the polished type look of it although if I saw diamond is unbreakable without context I would just think it’s some slice of life tv-14 fantasy anime

I really think araki has improved so much in his bodily anatomy, from part 2 to 5 they look a little….wonky? Like I love his art and it’s amazing but they look disproportionate a little, in his later parts they look amazing and well drawn and the proportions are so much better than earlier parts

the problem I have with the art style shifting is mostly just that older characters like Jotaro and Polnareff just look off with the new art style. Like fair enough have the new characters use the newer art style but the older characters could at least look more like how we had seen them before so there's some consistency. The palette change in Morioh isnt an improvement over what we had before at all but it at least fits the story, and is the only Jojo part that uses those colours as every part afterwards goes back to stardust crusader's levels of detail and coloration.

I love the art styles of both part 3 and part four, but for completely different reasons. It can be a bit jarring to go from 3 to 4, which is understandable, but the thing to think about is how both styles are extremely JoJo’s, just in their own ways, like stated in the video.

This man said a bit Jarring.. from 3-4. Just like Dio was a bit Jarred when Jotaro was behind him. Its like a whole new anime the first episode. New art style, new drip, different personality mostly with remnants left and Stands are still a thing? Not that I hate the stand life, but they only manifested because Dio. They should have unmanifested when he got Ora'ed into a different dimension. That is literally the whole reason Stardust happened to get rid of the stand killing the fam. But Jojo is still Jojo can't be too mad. But don't say a "bit jarring". I thought I missed something when I started Diamond.

The thing is artist art style change through out the years and artist pick what they like and don’t like in their style and make some changes to it. I like it and it wasn’t honestly many big changes to where you are not like that is not jjba. I also feel like the change in the style of buildings also helps with the mood of the story because they are just in a simple little town and doesn’t need to be extravagant like when they were in Egypt the change in colors also helps with the mood it would have felt supper boring for the town to be in plain colors.

A lot of the points you made were off. First, Araki changed the artstyle because he believed that the readers would not like the buff men thing anymore, since most Shonen series were making their characters a lot skinnier. Second, JoJo has never had a clear artstyle, with it having major changes between part 1 and part 3. This is more noticeable in the manga. Next, the OVA adaptation did eventually animate the beginning of part 3, as well as a full length movie for part 1, although the part 1 movie is now a piece of lost media. Later on, a major artstyle change happened around the middle of part 7, since Araki’s art skills were improving and he was working on a monthly schedule instead of weekly. Finally, although stands are a major factor in parts 7 and 8, a new power system called spin is introduced, similar to Hamon.

I love Part 4's art style because of the thick lineart. As someone with similar lineart style, I feel happy everytime I see it move. The linework helps in emphasizing things and the amount of times it has been used well so far proves that.

JJBA: The Animation art style changes: •Season 1 (Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency) - Extremely buffed male characters •Season 2 (Stardust Crusaders) - Extremely buffed angular male characters •Season 3 (Diamond is Unbreakable) - simplified art style •Season 4 (Golden Wind) - living shadowed mannequins •Season 5 (Stone Ocean) - evolved S4 art style. I started watching Jojo's a little over a month ago because a friend recommended it to me. I loved the style because it was very detailed and I liked that the characters looked muscular, I thought it was cool. Just today I finished watching Stardust Crusaders and decided to watch the first chapter of part 4. When it started I felt disappointed, like I was in another anime. I watched the whole chapter and felt like the anime went from something with a lot of details to a childish cartoon. I mean, it's not bad, but I liked the style of parts 1, 2 and 3 much more. Maybe I'll get used to this style with time, but I don't love it

I feel the exact same way. I just watched 3 eps from part 4 and it really is different than parts 1 to 3. Idk why they made Joseph cheat on Suzie Q like that's so outta pocket and doesn't sound like Joseph at all. It's also weird to me that Jotaro and Josuke met one second and are like great with each other with little to no words at all. It feels kinda forced.. but let's see where this is going I guess

I didn't like the background as i said before and i was also uncomfortable with the new art style but i got used to it and it didn't matter to me as much as before 🤭 josuke is actually super funny, i laughed a lot 😂 i'd give part 4 an 8/10

The reason why part 4 has a yellow sky and purple trees are because they want the town of morio to look different, weird and ofcourse, bizarre. This town is not the regular towns. It's filled with serial killers and stand users and I like that. This would have not looked good with other places. Also there was a pink sky and green sky is part 3 for some episodes and no one talks about that.

I got shocked when I see my boy Jotaro in part 4 cause I don't even recognise him anymore, he looks so different in part 4. Although the artstyle looks "normal" (cause all jojo chars is buff man) but I like the old artstyle more. Should it be more distinctive? More special? Idk but I'm trying so hard not to drop the anime 😭

I’m on the verge of just dropping it. It’s sad because part 3 and before really had me hooked. I’m watching season 4 or part 4 whatever and it’s just so weird now. Like it feels like a whole different anime. I hate it. All the inverted colors and skinny characters, I miss the buff characters and blood & the old art

I'm sorry but I just hate the art style of part 4. I personally love the roughness of how jojo used to look. That's what made me fall in love with the show. But seeing not only Jotaro look change but the whole animation just kills it for me.

I was very resentful of part 4's artchange as well with the switch from part 1/2/3 being so drastic. But in all honesty after giving part 4 a second chance it became my favorite part. Josuke, Okuyasu, Jotaro and Koichi is my favorite teamup.

when i saw jotaro in part 4 i was like OH MY GAWD..even his personality changed a lot,kinda opp. to that in Stardust crusaders,,like how jotaro was shown in very first episode of stardust crusaders made me fall in love with him...u get to see that at 1 or 2 events in part 4 otherwise he seems completely difff...

I actually enjoy Part 4 art style and onward better. It fits the ominous theme of Jojo bizarre. Part 3 wasn't as ominous but part 4 and onward I believe really was bizarre and this art style compliments it. Part 1-3 were great too. It fit the character atmosphere and environment for that particular time. As the idea of stands developed, the stand abilities got crazier and super bizarre/weird. This art style gives me the creeps and makes me think that what I am watching, without context of course, is probably going to be weird and unorthodox. Indeed, because I've watched it, it is very bizarre lol. So yeah, it's fitting and again Part 1-3 are also nice.

Part 3 felt like is where Araki perfected the art style only to fuck everything up after part 4. Part 5 is really where I dropped off where the story also began to decline as well.

Part 1 have shitty story and shitty drawings, araki said that he didnt draw well part 1, part 2 is better but the story is bad, part 3 story is a generic shonen story, part 4 story is better than the firsr 3 combined and the writing is just better, look at kira, part 5 story is like a remake of part 3 but in Italy and the characters are really good, all those comments are stupid af lol

Watched this entire video expecting satire, and I’m disappointed. It’s called experimentation, and it’s the reason you have such a varied choice of art to choose from. Idunno I personally enjoy when studios and to call it inconsistent is just ignorant. It’s done on purpose and it was done to reflect Araki’s changing art styles in the manga. There’s a lot of things to criticize Jojo for but criticizing it’s “inconsistent” artstyle is just missing the point. I get it, you like buff dudes fighting. Just watch Fist of The North Star and it’s hundreds of derivatives. You expected that out of JoJo and that’s simply not what it is, and that was your mistake.

I agree with you. When I started Jojo I had never seen anything about the manga and part 4 wasn't out, so I would never call the art style change bad, it just took me by surprise and I missed the old buff style haha. Not trying to discredit the new art style though!

I think part 4's introduction of an artstyle chagne was jarring but by the time we get to part 5 it's upgraded so that you still have buff guys but they aren't looking so buff that it looks extremely stylized.

I personally think it wasn't even just about the buff men. Nearly everything about Araki's artstyle changed for the worse (in my opinion). How he did bodies, faces, everything. The newer style seen in the most recent work I personally think is more technically impressive, but the older style is just much more fun. For me, it's like the difference between Toriyama's work in pre-Frieza saga DBZ to the art style of DB super (I know super isn't Toriyama, but let's be real, it's meant to emulate his work).

Part 4 art will forever be my favorite, the og 1-3 is iconic, but definitely feels behind times. Part 5, I feel like it drained away the elements that made Jojo so interesting to begin with. Lackluster story with drastic changes to characters we loved. The art is beautiful without a doubt, but it just doesn't feel the same

I’m glad the anime reflects Araki’s artstyle, but the OVA’s interpretation of Part 3’s artstyle will stay as my favourite look for JoJo’s, at least for the buff era. Its excellent animation likely plays a part in it, but DP’s Part 3 artstyle felt a bit too limited with how faithful it tried to be, and the colours weren’t very appealing compared to the OVA either.

I felt the same way about the Naruto animation. I liked it until shippuden changed the animation. Shippuden characters look way too clean and slick so does boruto animation. I miss when the characters looked like they were hand drawn.
