Lately, I've been thinking a lot why depression rates vary across different regions. What factors contribute to these differences, and what do we know? It's akin to the age-old question of the chicken and the egg: does depression shape culture, or does culture shape depression?
In my research, I've come across various sources shedding light on this topic (link follows). I invite you to share your knowledge and experiences in the comments below!

For me, depression started from the disappointment of the disconnect between my supposed dream and reality. I'm so glad people in Nigeria are starting to realize it's a real thing. Thanks for this

All what you've mention make sense especially those that come from a foundation of culture and trauma. What I've observe that generation of your birth (gen z, alpha, mileneals) displays different difficulties of depression. Depending on the time period you are in; societal and living standards were/are different and by time have been skewed (for better or for worst). There are just many layers of expectations to be an “acceptable functioning human” which some criterion can be absurd but yet impacts us deeply.

That’s an interesting point! True , our generations (=cultures) do have a great influence on depression. I haven’t thought about this

Very interesting topic, I thought I was depressing by culture also cause of my failure, but now I realize we should not think or regrets on that too deep but to learn by mistake, most important is I like to hang out with friend and family do some coffee and tea with cigarettes. Hahaha I guess I comment too much, hope all of us going to be fine with everything 😂🙌🏻 Is that all normal and natural
